Abstract

Child-Friendly Schools (SRA) prioritize children's rights in learning to actualize individuals who need to be educated with good treatment. The SRA concept is intended to create a safe and enjoyable learning atmosphere at all levels of education, including early childhood education. A comfortable learning atmosphere for students positively impacts physical and psychological well-being, which leads to optimal developmental tasks. There are six components in the implementation of child-friendly PAUD, namely 1)policy, 2)curriculum implementation, 3)educators and education staff, 4)infrastructure, 5)child participation, and 6)parent and community participation. The group needs help realizing child-friendly PAUD, one of which is that the activity programs carried out by these PAUD institutions must meet the SRA indicators. The activity program in question is more specifically an effort to involve parents in realizing SRA. Parenting activities that have been carried out so far have yet to be in harmony with the activities carried out by schools, especially in fulfilling children's rights. Therefore it takes school principals' and teachers' knowledge and skills to design parenting activity programs aligned with school activities to realize SRA. This community service aims to carry out training in preparing parenting activity programs. The method for implementing this activity program consists of five stages, namely: 1)analysis of problems in partner institutions; 2)socialization (brainstorming and equalization of perceptions); 3)workshops; 4)assisting the implementation of child-friendly PAUD activity programs; 5)evaluation.

Abstract

The use of cooking oil in daily life continues to increase over time. The large use of cooking oil causes an abundance of used cooking oil (cooking oil waste) and will have negative impacts if it is not processed properly. In fact, the facts on the ground show that used cooking oil has not been widely used by the community in several areas, including the community in Punggawan Village. Based on this problem, one of the 2023 UNS KKN teams conducted a workshop on making aromatherapy candles. The aim of this workshop activity is to utilize used cooking oil waste into useful products in the Punggawan Village community. The methods used are socialization and direct practice. This activity is divided into three stages, namely: (1) planning and preparation; (2) implementation of activities; and (3) program follow-up. This planning and preparation stage requires coordination with the PKK as well as preparing the tools and materials that will be used. The activity consists of presenting material and direct practice in making aromatherapy candles. The follow-up stage of this program is that the community is able to reduce and utilize used cooking oil waste. This workshop activity was attended by 30 participants who came from PKK members in Punggawan Village, Banjarsari District, Surakarta City. The results of this activity show that there is positive feedback from participants who participated actively during the workshop. This activity is expected to provide knowledge and experience for PKK members so they can utilize used cooking oil waste to process it into products that are useful and have sales value.

Abstract

The literacy rate in Indonesia is meager due to the lack of literacy facilities in schools. One of the schools in Indonesia, precisely in Boyolali, namely SDN Cangkringan, has fewer literacy facilities. This activity aims to improve literacy at SDN Cangkringan by revitalizing the library and creating a Reading Corner. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data sources obtained from observations, documentation, and literature studies carried out before and before library revitalization activities. The results of this activity showed that the library visit rate from students increased by 42%, with active students increasing by 30% after the revitalization was carried out. The existence of a reading corner gives students their own space to read other than that, with this reading corner, students also become more interested in reading because reading facilities are closer.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a serious problem in Indonesia because plastic cannot be decomposed naturally and can have a negative impact on the environment and public health. Then the 3R principle is applied, namely Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. This socialization activity will focus on the principle of Recycle (recycling) through ecobrick in the village of Shoulder RT 04 RW 07 Jati, Jaten District, Karanganyar Regency. Ecobrick itself is a creative effort to manage plastic waste into useful objects that have use value and sale value, reducing pollution and toxins caused by plastic waste. Making ecobrick does not require special skills and only requires a lot of money because it uses household waste plastic as the main material. The purpose of holding the socialization in Pundak Village RT 04 RW 07, Jati, Jaten District, Karanganyar Regency is to overcome plastic waste and provide an understanding of how to recycle plastic waste using the ecobrick method. The methods used in this ecobrick socialization are questionnaires, lectures, and demonstrations. The result of this socialization is a decrease in the amount of untreated plastic waste which is related to the greater awareness of residents in the Village of Pundak RT 04 RW 07, Jati, Jaten District, Karanganyar Regency in waste management.

Abstract

Indonesia is the second largest country that produces plastic waste in the world. Plastic waste is decomposed in about 1000 years. Plastic waste has a negative impact on the environment, such as the accumulation of garbage, which causes environmental pollution. Correct steps are needed to overcome these problems. One of the right strategies to overcome this problem is by using the 5R method, namely Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Replace, and Replant which we should apply in dealing with plastic waste. However, not all areas have waste disposal facilities. Especially nowadays a landfill is a necessity, for that we need a landfill. The solution to this problem is the manufacture of ecobrick products, in which these products can be made easily with makeshift tools and materials. The purpose of this socialization is to increase public awareness, especially in the Malangan Hamlet area, RT 04, Kalimacan, Kalijambe, Sragen Regency regarding ecobrick products as a step to care for the environment. The method used is counseling in the form of lectures and demonstrations. The results obtained are that people can understand the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental health by sorting waste properly, and are able to provide ecobrick products in the form of shoe containers, both as personal and community needs. Ecobrick has a positive impact on society by reducing plastic waste and turning it into a livelihood opportunity.

Abstract

This community service program aims to create awareness of the plastic pollution challenge by empowering the local communities around Sekolah Alam Solo Raya (SELASAR). The program is part of a problem-based learning approach implemented to support community-based education in SELASAR. SELASAR’s students are expected to educate the communities in sorting the general waste and separating out items that can be recycled. The educational kit of a simple recycling machine will be developed in UNS and then installed in Sekolah Alam Solo Raya for educational purposes. The communities will take an educational tour through plastic recycling, from sorting to final production. The objective of the educational tour is to raise awareness of waste reduction and provide practical tips on how to create a more sustainable environment. It is also expected that students could create well-designed products that have more commercial value.
