Abstract

Hindu Religious Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of students based on Dharma values, especially in the era of globalization and digitalization, which is prone to moral disorientation. This study aims to examine the strengthening of Hindu religious education through curriculum innovation, the utilization of information technology, and the integration of local wisdom values in the learning process. This study employs a qualitative approach, drawing on a literature review that examines Hindu sacred texts, character education literature, and recent research findings on pedagogical challenges in the digital era. The results of the study indicate that effective Hindu religious education must be dynamic and adaptive without abandoning Hindu spiritual roots. Teachers as agents of change need to master the use of digital technology such as audiovisual media, online learning platforms, and interactive learning resources. A contextual approach, through the exploration of the Hindu Nusantara tradition, also strengthens the relevance of learning. This study highlights the importance of revitalizing holistic Hindu education by integrating philosophical, pedagogical, and technological aspects to cultivate a generation of intelligent, noble, and spiritually inclined young Hindus.

Abstract

Cross-cultural understanding is a crucial competency for students participating in international internship programs, particularly in Japan, which is known for its distinctive work norms and social values. This study aims to analyze the cultural understanding levels of students from the Japanese Language Education Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang who joined internships in Japan in 2023 and 2024. The data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 25 participating students. The results reveal that students' understanding of general culture was 24%, Japanese work culture 64%, and cultural aspects in Japanese communication 76%. The highest comprehension was in dining culture (92%), while the lowest was in workplace discipline (16%). These findings suggest a gap in students’ understanding of both general and work-specific Japanese culture. Theoretically, this study contributes to the discourse on the need to integrate Japanese work culture education into university curricula, thereby holistically preparing students for the cultural challenges they will encounter in the Japanese workplace environment.

Abstract

Differentiated learning can foster creativity, independence, and motivation to learn in students. However, misconceptions in understanding and implementing this approach produce negative outcomes. This study analyzes misconceptions in differentiated learning among Indonesian social studies teachers, examining their forms, causes, and impacts. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, utilizing structured and open-ended interviews conducted via Google Forms, with 126 randomly selected social studies teachers across Indonesia. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Results reveal significant misconceptions among Indonesian social studies teachers. Key findings include an overemphasis on learning styles (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) in teaching practices, uniform time allocation despite varying student abilities, and excessive reliance on group learning without considering individual student profiles, including those who prefer independent learning. These misconceptions reveal fundamental misunderstandings about the principles of differentiated instruction, underscoring the need for enhanced teacher training and professional development programs.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low collaboration skills and learning outcomes in social studies subjects, which are attributed to monotonous learning methods and the underutilization of digital learning media. The research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the "Journey to Merdeka" educational game integrated with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing students’ collaboration skills and learning outcomes. Employing a mixed-method research and development (R&D) approach, this study involved 8th-grade students from three junior high schools in Brebes Regency. Key stages included product design, validation, testing, and analysis using statistical techniques such as Wilcoxon and N-gain tests. Findings show a significant increase in collaboration skills—students categorized as "very good" rose from 10.81% to 97.30%—and improved learning outcomes, with an N-gain score of 0.6213 (moderate effectiveness). The results confirm that the educational game is valid and well-received, and effective in supporting active learning, problem-solving, and collaborative engagement in social studies.

Abstract

Global demand for fossil energy continues to increase, affecting both the environment and energy availability. This study aims to describe the energy crisis and its impacts, the adoption of renewable energy (RE), and the educational challenges in addressing these problems in Indonesia.  The Systematic Literature Review method was conducted using Harzing’s Publish or Perish application, which indexed articles from Scopus and Google Scholar, using the keywords “energy crisis,” “renewable energy,” “energy education Indonesia,” and “impact of fossil energy.” The review covered publications from 2017 to March 2025. A total of 116 articles met the eligibility criteria. The results indicate that the environmental impacts include increases in CO2 emissions driven by urbanization, industrialization, and transportation. Globally, RE adoption remains at only 1%. The use of renewable energy in Indonesia is relatively low, at 11.31% of the available energy supply. Indonesia’s educational strategies include establishing specialized schools for the development of RE, curriculum support, and implementing project-based learning. These strategies must be replicated and further developed by other institutions. Through these efforts, Indonesia is expected to become more aware of the limitations and impacts of fossil energy and better able to utilize the availability of renewable energy.

Abstract

This study stems from the importance of preserving local cultural values in the digital age, particularly in social studies learning, through technology-based innovations that support the internalization of Pangadereng values. This study aims to examine the influence of digital media on the transformation and internalization of Pangadereng values (Ade', Bicara, Rapang, Wari', and Sara') to improve the digital ethnopedagogy of junior high school students. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design, incorporating in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were processed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression. The findings show that digital media significantly improves students' understanding of Pangadereng values and correlates positively with an increase in digital ethnopedagogy, contributing 38%. Ade' and Sara' show the highest level of internalization, while Bicara, Rapang’, and Wari' require more innovative and context-based pedagogical strategies.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgent need for educational leadership that can foster moderate attitudes amidst ideological challenges and social pressures in Islamic educational institutions. The goal is to develop a centralized disciplinary leadership model that is effective in promoting religious moderation at MTs Gondang, Pekalongan. Using a qualitative case study design, the research collected data through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and staff, as well as an analysis of policy documents and training programs. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that centralized disciplinary leadership is implemented in a humanistic (rather than authoritarian) manner through a coaching approach based on advice, counseling, and mentoring. While hierarchical supervision ensures consistency, it has the potential to limit teacher creativity and foster dependency. Key challenges arise from the dominance of textual approaches, internal resistance, and pressure from conservative communities that hinder the critical internalization of moderate values.

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom into digital learning materials is a strategic approach to strengthening cultural literacy and character education in social studies learning. However, variations in instructional design models and digital platforms have resulted in different levels of pedagogical and cultural effectiveness. This study aims to examine how instructional design models influence the development process and to identify the most effective digital platforms and media for delivering culturally based materials. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA protocol and analyzed through the PICOS framework. The findings reveal that the ADDIE model is most widely implemented due to its flexibility and iterative evaluation process, followed by Borg & Gall, Dick & Carey, and the 4D model, each supporting product validation and pedagogical relevance. Additionally, e-modules and interactive multimedia are the most effective platforms for improving conceptual literacy, while mobile applications and e-learning platforms enhance accessibility and interactivity.
