Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a literacy-based teaching module on improving critical thinking skills and cultural intelligence of Grade X students at Al-Amanah Islamic School, Lembang, West Java. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test experimental design. Data were collected using essay tests (to assess critical thinking) and Likert-scale questionnaires (to measure cultural intelligence). Statistical test results showed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores on both variables. The paired samples t-test revealed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating that the implementation of the literacy-based teaching module significantly enhanced students’ critical thinking and cultural intelligence. These findings highlight the importance of developing teaching materials that integrate local cultural values and literacy strategies to strengthen student competencies in the face of educational globalization.

Abstract

This qualitative study seeks to evaluate the implementation of the demonstration method in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and analyse its impact on learning motivation and the creation of meaningful learning for students. The background of the study is motivated by the phenomenon of PAI learning, which is often textual and less involved with concrete experiences, thus potentially reducing students' interest and profound understanding. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis at SDN Pondok Ranji 03, South Tangerang City, Banten. This study involved several students and one PAI teacher as subjects. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman thematic analysis technique. The research findings revealed that 1) the demonstration method significantly increased students' learning motivation through visualisation of worship practices (such as ablution, prayer, or Islamic history); 2) demonstrations create meaningful learning by connecting religious values with real-life contexts; and 3) supporting factors include teacher creativity, authentic media, and active student participation, while the main obstacles are time allocation and the readiness of facilities. The conclusion of the study confirms that the demonstration method has the potential as an innovative strategy in PAI to build emotional-intellectual engagement and internalisation of religious values. The implication is that educators need to design contextual and reflective demonstrations to optimise holistic Islamic religious education learning.

Abstract

Character education, vital amidst youth moral challenges, is strongly supported by Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and the Merdeka Curriculum. SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Sawangan is deeply committed to fostering students with noble character through innovative PAI curriculum. This research aims to examine PAI teachers' strategies in developing character values through PAI curriculum innovation, identifying instilled values, evaluating implementation effectiveness, designing a relevant strategy model, and analyzing supporting and inhibiting factors.This qualitative case study at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Sawangan (March-June 2025) is unique for integrating PAI curriculum development with character strategies within a Muhammadiyah context, employing mixed methods, and focusing on digital native generations. The findings indicate interactive and character-based learning supported by conducive classroom environments, active learning dynamics, and the inculcation of religious, disciplined, tolerant, and responsible values through various methods. Comprehensive curriculum development strategies include a character-based curriculum, collaboration, and continuous evaluation, proving effective in enhancing students' character values and PAI academic achievement. In conclusion, PAI teachers' strategies at SMA Muhammadiyah 7 Sawangan successfully develop student character, though continuous improvement and development are still needed.

Abstract

The Effect of introducing artificial intelligence games on Increasing English vocabulary in children. This quantitative research aims to enhance lexical knowledge in young learners aged 5 to 6 Wildatun Nisa Islamic Kindergarten through artificial intelligence games monster vocab website. The subjects were 10 group B children, 5 girls and 5 boys. Methods for gathering data included observing and recording I, the average value of vocabulary improvement reached 41.3%. In cycle II, the average value increased to 63.3%. This increase shows that the introduction of the AI vocabulary animal website has a significant effect on improving English vocabulary. In addition to vocabulary improvement, this study also showed that the introduction of AI vocabulary animal website increased children's interest in learning, critical thinking skills, communication skills, along with learners’ motivation. The research shows that the introduction of AI vocabulary animal website can help children's language development and increase English vocabulary in children aged 5-6 years at Wildatun Nisa Islamic Kindergarten

Abstract

Pendidikan abad ke-21 menuntut siswa untuk menguasai keterampilan berpikir kritis guna menghadapi tantangan global. Namun, hasil studi PISA 2022 menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa Indonesia, khususnya di jenjang Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP), masih di bawah rata-rata global. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi implementasi model Project Based Learning (PjBL) sebagai solusi inovatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dan desain studi kasus eksploratif, penelitian ini menganalisis penerapan PjBL di SMPN 178 Jakarta, dengan fokus pada tantangan dan peluang yang dihadapi oleh guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa PjBL efektif dalam mendorong siswa untuk berpikir kritis melalui proses pemecahan masalah, analisis, dan presentasi hasil. Meskipun terdapat kendala seperti waktu terbatas dan perbedaan kemampuan siswa, PjBL mampu meningkatkan motivasi dan kemandirian belajar. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi pendidik dan pemangku kebijakan dalam mengoptimalkan penggunaan PjBL untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di Indonesia.

Abstract

The research was aimed at examining the extent to which the Realistic Mathematics Learning (RME) model rooted in local Batak cultural knowledge was able to improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. A total of twenty eighth-grade students from Istiqlal Deli Tua Private Junior High School participated in this research which used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of one group pretest-posttest. The research instrument was a geometry concept test in the context of Batak culture. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test, N-Gain analysis, and homogeneity and normality tests. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of mathematical concepts, with an average score of 57.25 in the pretest to 86 in the posttest. The Paired Sample T-Test showed a statistically significant difference between before and after the application of the learning model with a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05). The average N-Gain score of 0.6940 placed the majority of students (60%) in the moderate improvement category, while the other 40% experienced a high increase. Thus, the Batak culture-based realistic mathematics learning approach has proven effective in deepening students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Research recommends utilizing local cultural knowledge as a learning resource to provide more relevant and meaningful mathematics learning for students.

Abstract

The skill of translation is considered as one of the abilities that language learners, particularly foreign language learners, should have. In fact, this is particularly true for students of foreign language learners, in this case English, as a Foreign Language (EFL), often navigate the complexities of linguistic proficiency while striving to retain the essence and nuances of the original text. Thus, this study aims to investigates the strategies employed by EFL students to preserve the nu-ances of original texts during self-translation from Bahasa Indonesia to English under five strategies: 1) Intentional Language Selection (ILS), 2) Cultural and Linguistic Sensitivity (CLS), 3) Equivalence and Fidelity (EF), 4) Emotional and Stylistic Impact (ESI), and 5) Hybrid Identities and Third Space (HITS), and challenges faced by EFL students in employing self-translation strategies. Conducting a qualitative research design, 23 EFL students were selected as the source of data, and document of their translated text (academic and non-academic text) were the instrument for collecting the data. Content analysis was used to identify the data to answer the research study. The finding indicated that five proposed self-translation strategies were employed by the EFL students in translation, and challenges they faced were caused by limited linguistic proficiency, cultural awareness, and the cognitive demands of translating complex sentences while preserving the original meaning can also lead to cognitive overload.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine Students’ and English Teachers’ Perspective on the Implementation of English Day (A Study of 12th Grade at Mawaridussalam Islamic Boarding School). This research method is applied a qualitative research, data were collected from questionnaire, interviews. The sample of this research is the students of class 12th grade of Mawaridussalam. The writer uses questionnaire and interview guidelines. The results of this study indicated that the English day program can improve students' English skills. However, the implementation of English day at Mawaridussalam has not been carried out well because: some students still use Indonesian during English day, some students are not confident to speak English with friends around them, there is anxiety in the because they are afraid of making mistakes when speaking English, and sometimes they still make mistakes in writing or pronunciation. It is recommended that LIC (language improvement council and CLI (central language improvement) be more sensitive and strengthen the rules so that all students do not violate the rules and can overcome existing obstacles..

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Roger Fowler's critical discourse model on detik.com online news. The research method used is a qualitative method with descriptive techniques. The data collection method in this research is the documentation method. The object of the research is two news articles that discuss corruption cases with different impacts, namely the Harvey Moeis case with a state loss of Rp 300 trillion and a sentence of 6.5 years, and the corruption case of the Ruteng airport terminal project with a loss of Rp 8 billion and charges of 5 to 8 years. The results showed that the media used linguistic strategies such as classification vocabulary, view restrictions, and marginalization to shape public opinion. In the Harvey Moeis case, the much lighter sentence compared to the amount of state losses reflected the inequality in the justice system, which then led to strong criticism from the public. Meanwhile, in the case of the Ruteng airport terminal project, the media emphasized the severity of the sentence, even though the scale of the loss was much smaller than the Harvey Moeis case. This research confirms that language in the media not only functions as a communication tool, but also has a role in shaping public perceptions of legal justice.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perception of additional learning in order to improve official test scores, especially in official class students at Al Azhar Superior High School Medan. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach with a total sampling technique, involving all official class students as respondents. The research instrument is in the form of a Likert scale questionnaire which includes indicators of student perception of the material, learning methods, the role of teachers, and the effectiveness of additional learning on the understanding and results of the official test try-out. The results showed an average perception score of 4.14, which was classified as a positive category. The indicators with the highest scores were program sustainability (4.5) and clarity of teacher explanations (4.4), while indicators with relatively low scores were an increase in try out scores (3.8). These findings indicate that students consider additional learning beneficial, not only in improving material comprehension, but also in building confidence in facing official tests. In conclusion, students' positive perceptions of additional learning contribute significantly to their academic and affective readiness, so this program is worthy of being maintained and further developed to support students' success in official school selection
