Abstract

The research problem in this study is that the development of Islamic Education teachers has not yet been optimal in integrating technology, resulting in low learning effectiveness and limited digital competence. The purpose of this study is to analyze teacher development and the influence of technology on the effectiveness of Islamic Education learning, and to formulate an effective development model. The research used an exploratory sequential design: a qualitative case study with 15 teachers (interviews, observations, and documentation), followed by a quantitative correlational stage with 50 students (Likert-scale questionnaires analyzed with SPSS). The results show that technology-based teacher development has a significant effect on the effectiveness of Islamic Education learning. Qualitatively, teachers experienced improvements in lesson planning, the use of varied teaching methods, and the utilization of digital media such as videos, applications, and online learning platforms, making learning more interactive, engaging, and student-centered. Quantitatively, instructional development (X1) contributed 47.4%, technology-based value-added development (X2) contributed 57.4%, and simultaneously, both contributed 59.6% to learning outcomes. The data were tested for normality and found to be valid and reliable. The study concludes that technology-based teacher development significantly and measurably improves the effectiveness of Islamic Education instruction. The significance of this research lies in producing a technology-based teacher development model as a foundation for policy development and modern Islamic education training.

Abstract

The research problem shows that the evaluation of Islamic Religious Education learning is still dominated by the cognitive aspect, which limits its ability to measure affective and psychomotor aspects, and has not been optimal in improving the overall quality of teachers’ instruction. This study aims to determine the influence of formative and summative evaluation, as well as learning motivation, on the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education teachers’ teaching methods in the overall learning process. The method used is quantitative research with an experimental approach through questionnaires distributed to 80 Islamic Religious Education teachers. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27, with a two-way analysis of variance to examine the influence of evaluation and learning motivation. The results show that evaluation methods and learning motivation have a significant influence on the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education teachers’ instruction, with a significance value of 0.000, an evaluation value of 128.808, and a motivation value of 39.366. In addition, there is a significant interaction effect (41.473), indicating that the effect of evaluation depends on the level of motivation. Summative evaluation is generally more effective at measuring learning outcomes than formative evaluation, whereas formative evaluation is more effective for teachers with high motivation. In conclusion, adjusting formative and summative evaluation based on learning motivation improves the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education learning and optimally and measurably enhances the quality of teachers’ instruction. The significance of this study lies in its theoretical and practical contributions to the development of more holistic Islamic Religious Education evaluation and to the continuous improvement of teacher competence through professional development.

Abstract

The verses of Qasidah Burdah have long been debated, as some contemporary scholars argue that they contain elements of ghuluw (excessive veneration), polytheism, and the deification of the Prophet. This study seeks to reinterpret these controversial verses through the perspective of Ahlus Sunnah Waljamaah Islamic boarding schools, examining them from textual, spiritual, and social dimensions. This research employs a qualitative field approach, including interviews with religious scholars, direct observations in Islamic boarding schools, and analysis of relevant documents, books, and academic journals discussing interpretations of Burdah. The findings indicate that Ahlus Sunnah Waljamaah scholars do not understand Qasidah Burdah as a literal text promoting polytheism. Rather, it is viewed as a highly sophisticated literary work rich in symbolic language and rhetorical beauty. Expressions of praise toward the Prophet are interpreted as manifestations of love (mahabbah), means of tawasul, and instruments for moral and character education among students. In institutions such as Al-Khairat in Palu and Ar-Riyadh in Palembang, Burdah is recited regularly as a form of dhikr, spiritual therapy, and a practice that fosters communal solidarity. Its linguistic features, such as majaz (metaphor), kinayah (allusion), tashbih (simile), and tawriyah (double entendre), demonstrate its aesthetic depth. Furthermore, the recitation of Burdah functions as a religious ritual that strengthens Sufi traditions and serves as a means of seeking intercession (shafa‘ah) and blessings. Ultimately, this study highlights Qasidah Burdah as a spiritually meaningful literary work that supports a moderate theological understanding.

Abstract

Limited empirical evidence exists on the relationship between religiosity and acceptance of rape among Islamic university students in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the relationship between religiosity and acceptance of rape and understand students’ perceptions of sexual violence. This study used an explanatory sequential mixed-method design at two Islamic universities. Quantitative correlational analysis (N=162) with MUDRAS and SRMA scales was followed by qualitative case study interviews analyzed thematically. Quantitative results show no significant relationship between religiosity and acceptance of rape, with a very weak positive correlation (r = 0.049, p = 0.532). This indicates that higher religiosity does not necessarily reduce acceptance of rape myths. Qualitative findings reveal that students generally demonstrate strong awareness of sexual violence issues, rejecting victim blaming, consent misinterpretation, and rape myths. Despite high levels of religious practice and moral self-control, these factors do not translate into statistically significant attitudes toward rape myth rejection. The findings highlight a disconnect between religiosity and attitudes toward sexual violence, suggesting the influence of broader social and cultural factors beyond religion alone. Religiosity is not significantly related to acceptance of rape among Islamic university students in this study context. Findings inform educational and policy strategies emphasizing multidimensional approaches beyond religiosity to prevent sexual violence effectively in society.

Abstract

This study examines the limited scholarly attention given to the role of Bu Nyai as legislators in the Tapal Kuda region through Simone de Beauvoir’s existential feminism. It aims to analyze the roles, positions, and domestic relations of Bu Nyai within the legislative sphere in Tapal Kuda, East Java. A qualitative case study approach was conducted in the Tapal Kuda region. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis, and were analyzed thematically using data triangulation to obtain an in-depth understanding of Bu Nyai’s roles in the legislature. The findings show that Bu Nyai's involvement reflects a significant transformation of pesantren women from the domestic sphere into the public political arena. Figures such as Neng Dana, Ninik, and Neng Ufa utilize religious social capital, education, and organizational networks to strengthen their political positions. From Simone de Beauvoir’s perspective, they experience a process of becoming that negotiates between immanence and transcendence, thereby challenging patriarchal structures. In addition to legislative, oversight, and budgeting functions, they also advocate for women’s issues, education, health, and community-based economic empowerment. This demonstrates the strengthening of autonomous political subjectivities among pesantren women in Indonesia’s public sphere. In conclusion, Bu Nyai represents a transformation toward more independent and empowered political actors capable of transcending traditional patriarchal boundaries in Tapal Kuda. This study contributes to existential feminist scholarship and supports more inclusive and gender-responsive public policy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study is based on the still-limited body of scholarly research that specifically examines the role of kyai in strengthening santri family resilience, grounded in the maq??id al-sharia, within pesantren environments in a comprehensive and in-depth manner. This research aims to analyze KH's thoughts, roles, and impacts. Yazid Karimullah is strengthening the resilience of santri families. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the kyai contributions to santri family resilience at Pesantren Nurul Qarnain Jember through interviews, observations, documentation, and systematic thematic analysis. The results show that family resilience according to KH. Yazid Karimullah is built on the principles of al-amna (security), ash-shihah (health), and al-kifayah (sufficiency), which complement each other in creating harmonious and sustainable families. This resilience is strengthened by religious, ethical, and moral values, resulting in sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah (tranquil, loving, and merciful) families. Various strategies are implemented, such as the establishment of ISNUQ, integration of marriage education into the curriculum, family counseling, conflict mediation, economic empowerment, religious sermons, and the prohibition of unregistered marriage (nikah sirri), early marriage, and domestic violence. These findings demonstrate the comprehensive implementation of maq??id al-sharia and the role of kyai as social agents who shape strong, independent, and adaptive santri families in facing modern challenges. The conclusion of this study is that santri family resilience is formed through the integration of religious values, pesantren strategies, and the kyai’s role as a social agent. The significance of this research enriches the study of maq??id al-sharia and provides practical contributions for pesantren in strengthening santri family resilience.

Abstract

This study examines the gap in the implementation of management policies for Islamic Higher Education Institutions in DKI Jakarta and Banten, resulting from variations in managerial capacity, infrastructure limitations, and low levels of digitalization, which in turn affect institutional quality and competitiveness. The objectives of this research are to analyze the effectiveness of management policies for Islamic Higher Education Institutions, identify dominant factors influencing quality and competitiveness, and assess the contribution of seven policy variables. The study employs a quantitative method using questionnaires distributed to institutional leaders, with data analyzed through multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that the model explains approximately 77% of the variation in institutional quality and competitiveness and is statistically significant simultaneously. Partially, curriculum, collaboration, quality assurance, and financial management have a positive and significant effect on improving institutional quality and competitiveness. In contrast, facilities and infrastructure have a significant negative effect, indicating structural barriers due to infrastructure limitations. Meanwhile, lecturer quality and technology utilization do not show a significant effect, suggesting that the integration of these aspects into institutional governance has not yet been optimal. The conclusion highlights that governance, collaboration, and quality assurance are the key drivers for improving institutional performance. This study contributes both theoretically and practically to policy development and governance reform, while also offering strategic recommendations for strengthening Islamic higher education through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable digital transformation.

Abstract

This study identifies key barriers to retail-based donation systems in Indonesia, including low trust, limited zakat literacy, digital security concerns, and perceived intrusiveness, which significantly reduce donation effectiveness. It aims to analyze the Alfamart–BAZNAS partnership in enhancing effortless donations through improved accessibility, transparency, trust, and social awareness embedded in daily shopping activities. A qualitative case study approach was employed, using semi-structured interviews, field observations, and document analysis, with thematic analysis to identify factors influencing consumer participation in retail donation programs. Findings reveal that integrating donations into Alfamart shopping transactions significantly increases consumer participation. Key drivers include cashier-based convenience, small donation amounts, and extensive store coverage. Program transparency through public reports, social media, and in-store displays strengthens consumer trust, while social impact awareness and visual communication at checkout points reinforce donation intention. The Alfamart–BAZNAS collaboration creates a simple, fast, and accessible philanthropic model that sustains consistent public contributions. The study further shows that cashier-led donation requests strongly enhance participation by serving as behavioral triggers that generate positive social pressure and trust. Empirical data from 2024–2025 confirms steady growth, reaching IDR 21.7 billion, highlighting the dominance of interpersonal communication despite minor monthly fluctuations. Retail partnerships are effective in increasing donations through seamless daily shopping integration, transparency, and enhanced public participation. This study contributes to the development of scalable, transparent, and replicable retail-based philanthropy models.

Abstract

This study addresses the lack of integration of character values in teaching materials for the Learning Media course in Islamic Religious Education, the limited availability of character-based resources, and the less-than-optimal holistic learning experience for prospective educators. The purpose of the research is to develop teaching materials based on character values for this course. The study applies a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, involving third-semester students of Islamic Religious Education at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. Data collection techniques include expert validation, observation, and statistical analysis using a t-test and N-Gain. The results indicate that the developed teaching materials are effective. The t-test analysis yields a t-value of 6.01, which exceeds the t-table value of 1.69 at the 0.05 significance level, indicating that the null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. This confirms a significant difference in student learning outcomes before and after using the developed materials. Furthermore, the N-Gain score of 0.88 is categorized as high, indicating a strong improvement in learning achievement. Student learning activities featured active participation, task completion, and group discussions, while lecturers primarily served as facilitators and explainers of material. In conclusion, the development of character-based teaching materials significantly improves student learning outcomes and is effective. This research is significant for enhancing educational quality, strengthening student character, and providing an innovative teaching material model that can be adapted to other higher education courses in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study examines the limitations in the integration of tawhid-based decision making, leadership behavior, and communication style in improving the performance of madrasah principals, which has so far been analyzed partially and has not been comprehensively addressed. The study aims to empirically analyze the partial and simultaneous effects of tawhid-based decision making, leadership behavior, and communication style on the performance of principals of State Islamic Senior High Schools (MAN) in Medan. A quantitative ex post facto correlational study was conducted at MAN 1, MAN 2, and MAN 3 Medan with a sample of 60 respondents. Data were collected using valid and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results show that tawhid-based decision-making has a positive and significant effect on madrasah principal performance, with a coefficient of 0.365 and a significance value of 0.005. In contrast, leadership behavior is not significant, with a coefficient of 0.022 and a significance value of 0.872. Communication style is the most dominant variable, with a coefficient of 0.479 and a significance value of 0.000. Simultaneously, the three variables have a significant effect, with an F value of 19.583 and an R² of 0.512. The performance of madrasah principals is significantly influenced by tawhid-based decision-making and communication style, with communication being the dominant factor. This study strengthens Islamic leadership theory and provides practical implications for improving performance through the integration of spiritual values and effective communication.
