Abstract

The adoption of e-wallets for zakat payments remains low due to limited digital literacy, security concerns, and the requirement for Sharia compliance, despite fintech innovations improving efficiency and transparency. This study investigates the influence of opportunities and challenges in e-wallet usage on community participation in digital zakat payments. A mixed-methods approach with a Sequential Explanatory design was employed. The quantitative phase used a correlational approach with questionnaires, analyzed in SPSS for descriptive statistics, and tested for validity, reliability, normality, and linearity, using t-tests and F-tests. The qualitative phase involved a case study with interviews and documentation from 20 informants over 59 days, analyzed through data condensation, descriptive presentation, and triangulation of sources and techniques. Results indicate moderately high perceptions of e-wallet opportunities (mean = 16.00), high perceived challenges (mean = 36.10), and moderately high zakat usage (mean = 16.43). Statistical analyses confirmed significant positive relationships between variables. The Madura community, especially younger generations, uses M-Banking and ShopeePay for daily transactions, including zakat, although most still prefer cash. E-wallets provide accessibility, flexibility, and transactional proof, but limited knowledge, security concerns, and traditional habits limit their adoption for zakat payments. The study concludes that opportunities enhance zakat participation, challenges reduce interest, and overall adoption depends on community understanding, access, and trust. This research offers important insights into how e-wallet opportunities and challenges affect the effectiveness of digital zakat payments.

Abstract

At MTs Al-Hidayah Wanti, Aqidah Akhlak instruction is mostly traditional, and student motivation to learn is relatively low.  Furthermore, the Gimkit application, as an interactive learning medium, has not been utilized optimally. This study aims to determine the effect of using Gimkit on students’ learning motivation and to analyze the effectiveness of digital media in Aqidah Akhlak instruction. This research employed a quantitative, descriptive, quasi-experimental design with saturated sampling. Data acquisition encompassed Likert-scale questionnaires, observational techniques, and document examination. The ensuing data analysis utilized validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, correlation, and t-tests. The findings indicated that, before the integration of Gimkit-based learning media, a substantial percentage of students (36.5%) showed diminished learning motivation in Aqidah Akhlak, with a mean score of 60.3. Following the implementation of Gimkit, student motivation showed an upward trajectory: the moderate category increased to 59.6%, and the mean score rose to 67.27, indicating an average improvement of 6.97 points. Correlation analysis produced an r_xy value of 0.166, surpassing the 0.05 threshold, whereas t-test results demonstrated that t_calculated (2.405) exceeded t_table (1.86), thus corroborating the rejection of the null hypothesis (H?). This platform effectively cultivates student engagement and interest in Aqidah Akhlak instruction. Consequently, the implementation of Gimkit-based learning media demonstrably elevates students' motivation to study Aqidah Akhlak in contrast to traditional pedagogical approaches. Gimkit facilitates active involvement, cultivates interest, and encourages participation, thereby reinforcing students' comprehension of the subject matter and augmenting the efficacy of Aqidah Akhlak teaching.

Abstract

This study examines the widespread involvement of children and adolescents in Mekarsari Village in unproductive mobile phone activities, such as excessive gaming and exposure to harmful content. The study aims to explore the strategies parents employ to teach about honesty, the consequences of their actions, the responsible use of technology, and the provision of religious guidance. A phenomenological approach was employed in this study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, discussions, and observations. Data analysis encompassed the synthesis, presentation, and interpretation of findings. The study's credibility was ensured through prolonged observation, data triangulation, and confirmability. The findings indicate that parents utilize religious teachings to advise their children on limiting online gaming and avoiding harmful content. Supervision is achieved through direct communication and the internalization of religious tenets, thereby promoting the early cultivation of children's moral understanding. Children are instructed that all actions have repercussions, highlighting the importance of discipline in worship, spiritual responsibility, and the prudent incorporation of technology within educational and familial contexts. Parents utilize tawhid-based education and moral development to counteract digital addiction, guiding children toward becoming religious, wise, and responsible individuals. In conclusion, parental advice, encompassing honesty, the instruction of consequences, and religious education, is efficacious in mitigating undesirable conduct. This study underscores that a fiqh-based methodology, along with moral education, is crucial in cultivating children's character to develop into disciplined and responsible persons.

Abstract

Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ) in pesantren environments has impeded advancements in Qur’anic education, specifically concerning the accommodation of student requirements and technological constraints. This study investigates the use of technology in digital TPQ instruction, aiming to identify challenges and suggest solutions to improve learning outcomes, student participation, and long-term success. The study used an Exploratory Sequential Design, starting with a qualitative case study that included interviews, observations, and document analysis. The qualitative findings then informed a quantitative descriptive phase, where a Likert-scale questionnaire was given to 30 respondents, and the data were analyzed using SPSS and Microsoft Excel. The survey results show that a significant 80.7% of the participants believe that digital innovation in TPQ successfully connects Qur’anic education with current developments. Teaching tajwid incorporates tools like laptops, projectors, audiovisual aids, and mobile applications. These resources are used to increase student motivation and encourage active participation. WhatsApp serves as a communication tool for teachers and parents, helping to monitor academic progress and encouraging teamwork. Moreover, a significant 78.4% of those surveyed highlighted the importance of carefully managing digital media use. In essence, digital innovation serves to augment motivation, foster engagement, and improve instructional efficacy, all while upholding the core principles of pesantren. This study contributes to the ongoing discussion regarding the incorporation of digital technology in TPQ environments, demonstrating its potential to improve educational results and develop Qur’anic teaching methodologies tailored to the particular context.

Abstract

Social media users frequently engage in excessive self-presentation, including ostentation and arrogance, without regard for Islamic values; this leads to digital identities that conflict with religious ethical standards. This study seeks to examine identity construction on social media through a Qur’anic lens and to ascertain the influence of Islamic values on users' digital interactions. This study employs a qualitative approach, beginning with a literature review in Scopus. Subsequent steps involved editing, organizing, and analyzing the content, along with an assessment of the sources' accuracy and relevance to the topic. The results indicate that the process of identity formation on social media is influenced by digital interactions, cultural values, and Islamic ethical guidelines. Muslim adolescents navigate their religious and social identities through their shared content, demonstrating positive values and refraining from arrogant or disparaging conduct. Social media platforms, while facilitating self-expression, religious education, and community engagement, simultaneously present difficulties concerning misinformation and social pressures. Users can cultivate a balanced and responsible digital persona by incorporating Qur’anic tenets, including tabayyun (verification), humility, and honesty. Consequently, the construction of a Muslim digital identity should be congruent with Qur’anic principles, thereby directing online conduct and ethical decision-making. This study contributes to digital ethical awareness, provides direction for Islamic interactions on social media, and supports research into communication and identity.

Abstract

The Bontowon Kon Bui’an tradition in Bolaang Mongondow raises concerns regarding symbolic kinship severance prior to endogamous marriage, which may appear to conflict with Islamic principles that emphasize the sanctity of family ties. This study evaluates whether Bontowon Kon Bui’an constitutes ‘Urf ?a??? or contradicts Sharia principles. Qualitative fieldwork was conducted through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with customary and religious leaders, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using ‘Urf, maq??id al-shar?’ah, and living law frameworks. The findings suggest that the symbolic severance of kinship functions as a ritualized mechanism rather than an actual breach of family ties. The practice aligns local social norms with Islamic expectations, with religious authorities demonstrating contextual tolerance provided the practice is recognized culturally rather than theologically. From the maq??id al-shar?’ah perspective, the tradition fosters communal harmony, prevents familial conflict, and reinforces family honor. These results indicate that local customs can coexist with Sharia when interpreted through appropriate normative frameworks, illustrating the adaptive and negotiated nature of Islamic law in pluralistic cultural contexts. In conclusion, Bontowon Kon Bui’an exemplifies how symbolic local customs can harmonize with Islamic law without violating core Sharia principles. This study provides insights for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners on integrating customary practices with Islamic law to preserve social harmony and cultural values.

Abstract

Digital transformation demands adaptive classroom management; however, the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Islamic higher education has not yet been structured into a human-centered model that considers pedagogical, ethical, and humanistic values. This study aims to analyze the needs of digital classroom management and to formulate a contextual Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence model for Islamic higher education. The research employed a qualitative approach with conceptual development studies through interviews, classroom observations, academic documentation, and interpretive thematic data analysis. The findings suggest that classroom management is confronted with difficulties stemming from diverse student capabilities, fluctuations in learning engagement, and inadequate utilization of learning data. To mitigate these issues, a Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Model was developed, incorporating learning analytics, adaptive recommendation systems, and humanistic pedagogical tenets grounded in Islamic educational principles. This model designates educators as the principal decision-makers, with AI functioning as a data-driven support system. The model's implementation could potentially augment learning efficacy, personalize the learning experience, and sustainably enhance the quality of pedagogical interactions. Consequently, the integration of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence fortifies adaptive classroom management by harmonizing technology, humanistic values, and the strategic function of educators. This study offers a conceptual model of AI-driven classroom management that is humanistic, contextually relevant, and pertinent to Islamic higher education within the digital age.

Abstract

Female judges in the District Court of Jember Regency face tensions between classical fiqh perspectives and modern judicial practices, including social, structural, and gender-based barriers that limit their participation. This study aims to analyze the relevance of Husein Muhammad’s gender thought and gender-just Islamic interpretations to the existence and role of female judges. Employing a qualitative empirical approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with a female judge, document analysis, and literature review on gender discourse in Islam and judicial practice. The findings reveal that female judges possess equal authority and responsibility as male judges but continue to encounter social and structural challenges, including domestic burdens and gender stereotypes. Husein Muhammad's perspective, when viewed through the lens of maq??id al-shar?‘ah, offers a robust theological and ethical foundation for gender equality, highlighting the tenets of justice, public benefit (maslahah), and human dignity. This framework supports the idea that women should participate in the judiciary, thus reducing the influence of patriarchal views in legal decisions. The research shows that it's possible to combine modern religious discussions with established legal procedures. Ultimately, incorporating gender-sensitive Islamic thought into judicial practice can foster a more inclusive and fair legal system. The study's importance resides in its provision of a contextual Islamic framework that endorses women's participation and challenges patriarchal interpretations found within traditional fiqh.

Abstract

The interpretation of riba in modern Islamic thought remains controversial, and the perspectives of al-Maraghi and Ibn Ashur have not been systematically compared through the lens of Maqasid al-Shari’ah. This study aims to reconstruct the meaning of riba through a comparative analysis of Tafsir al-Maraghi and al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir using a maqasidi and critical hermeneutic approach. Employing qualitative library research, it integrates tafsir muqaran, maqasidi analysis, and critical hermeneutics to examine primary and relevant secondary literature. Findings show both scholars affirm the absolute prohibition of riba on ethical and jurisprudential grounds, yet differ methodologically: al-Maraghi emphasizes the socio-economic harm of riba, focusing on zulm and exceptions under darurah, whereas Ibn Ashur applies a maqasidi-ijtihadi framework, evaluating transactions through fitrah, maslahah, and musawah. Synthesizing their insights yields a holistic framework that emphasizes anti-exploitation (man’ al-istighfall), wealth justice (‘adalah al-tharwah), and purposive compliance (iltizam al-maqasid), which is relevant for assessing modern financial instruments in light of Shari’ah objectives. Reconstructing Riba based on maqasid offers a contemporary, just, and anti-exploitative framework for Islamic economic jurisprudence, extending Islamic hermeneutics and providing practical guidance for modern financial regulation and practice.

Abstract

The productivity of lecturers at pesantren-based Islamic Higher Education Institutions remains relatively low due to organizational culture, kyai leadership, suboptimal interpersonal communication, and varying levels of achievement motivation across individuals and work units. This condition requires a comprehensive examination of internal and external factors that shape academic performance. The study aims to determine the influence of organizational culture, servant leadership, and interpersonal communication on lecturer productivity through achievement motivation as an intervening variable. A quantitative survey approach was employed involving 105 lecturers selected through proportional random sampling, with data analyzed using path analysis and the Sobel test to examine both direct and indirect effects. The findings indicate that servant leadership has a significant direct effect on lecturer productivity (beta = 0.135), while achievement motivation also shows a significant effect (beta = 0.237). In addition, organizational culture, servant leadership, and interpersonal communication significantly influence productivity indirectly through achievement motivation. SITOREM analysis identifies areas requiring improvement, including scientific publications, community service, and time management, while teaching performance and technology utilization must be maintained and strengthened. These results highlight the importance of integrating organizational, leadership, communication, and motivational factors sustainably. Overall, lecturer productivity is shaped by both direct and indirect effects mediated by achievement motivation. The study provides a strategic foundation for pesantren-based Islamic Higher Education Institutions managers to enhance lecturer productivity through strengthening organizational culture, leadership practices, communication quality, and achievement motivation development.
