Abstract

Affective learning strategies in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) play a crucial role in shaping the character, attitudes, and moral values of students as an important foundation in building a moral society. PAI learning not only emphasizes cognitive aspects, but also affective integration that directs students to have religious behavior in their daily lives. This study aims to analyze the urgency, implementation models, and implementation challenges of affective learning strategies in PAI based on literature studies from various recent studies. The results show that affective strategies such as teacher exemplary, value clarification, positive attitude habituation, and emotional reinforcement contribute significantly to students' character building. However, obstacles such as difficulties in attitude evaluation and limited learning time remain a challenge that needs to be overcome with a collaborative approach between teachers, students and the environment. The Qur'anic texts, especially Q.S. Al-Mujadilah verse 11, strengthen the foundation that value-based learning is part of increasing one's degree of faith and knowledge. Thus, the application of affective learning strategies that are integrated, systematic, and adaptive is an urgent need in improving the quality of PAI education in the modern era.

Abstract

Children with Down Syndrome are part of a special needs group that requires integrated medical, social, and spiritual attention. From the Islamic perspective, they are not a disgrace but rather unique creations of Allah, full of wisdom and purpose. This study aims to examine Qur’anic verses related to the process of human creation and the uniqueness of children with special needs particularly those with Down Syndrome and to explore Qur’anic values that can serve as preventive, educational, and social foundations in responding to this condition. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using library research and thematic (maudhu‘i) interpretation methods. Primary data are derived from Qur’anic verses such as Surah Al-Mu’minun [23]: 12–14, Al-Insan [76]: 2, At-Thariq [86]: 6–7, and ‘Abasa [80]: 1–10, analyzed through classical and contemporary tafsir literature. Secondary data come from scientific literature discussing Down Syndrome from medical and social perspectives. Thematic analysis is applied to integrate the understanding of Qur’anic texts with the real-life conditions of children with Down Syndrome in society. The findings reveal that the Qur’an views the process of human creation as meaningful and purposeful, including for children born with special conditions. It also offers moral and educational foundations for supporting, accepting, and empowering children with Down Syndrome so they may live with dignity, grow optimally, and participate fairly in society. Therefore, an integrative approach that bridges divine values and medical science is essential in building an inclusive and just community.

Abstract

Al-Ghazali is a central figure in the history of Islamic thought who successfully integrated the three main branches of Islamic sciences—kalam (theology), fiqh (jurisprudence), and tasawwuf (mysticism)—into a unified and harmonious epistemological framework. He viewed kalam not merely as a tool to defend Islamic creed against external threats, but also as a rational foundation for spiritual purification and ethical development. For Al-Ghazali, true Sufism must be firmly rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah, while avoiding metaphysical and speculative deviations such as hulul (indwelling), ittihad (union), and emanative cosmology influenced by Neoplatonism. Through his monumental works like Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din and Minhaj al-‘Abidin, he demonstrated how the synthesis of disciplines could yield an understanding of Islam that is both rational and legalistic, yet deeply ethical and spiritual. Rejecting extreme forms of Sufism that neglect outward Sharia obligations, he emphasized a balanced path that unites knowledge and practice, aiming ultimately at ma‘rifah (gnosis) and true happiness (sa‘adah). His integrative vision not only provided a robust foundation for classical Islamic scholarship but also remains profoundly relevant to contemporary Islamic intellectual and spiritual discourse. This article systematically examines Al-Ghazali’s integrative thought, while addressing both critiques and appreciations of his position within the broader spectrum of Islamic sciences.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of learning strategies in supporting the implementation of the deep learning approach to enhance learning effectiveness in Indonesia. This research employs a literature review method by analyzing various articles related to learning strategies and the application of the deep learning approach in education. The findings indicate that learning strategies significantly contribute to fostering learning motivation, material comprehension, and the achievement of learning objectives. The appropriate selection of learning strategies can also help students develop critical thinking, creativity, and independence. Furthermore, the implementation of the deep learning approach has proven effective in improving conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, active student engagement in learning, and the personalization of learning materials. However, the successful implementation of this approach requires teacher readiness, adaptation to local contexts, and adequate support from the educational system and digital literacy. Therefore, integrating appropriate learning strategies with the deep learning approach is a strategic step toward realizing quality education and sustainably improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Civic education at the elementary school level is crucial in shaping students' character and moral values, especially considering the challenges posed by the decline of social values in society. This article aims to examine the role of values-based civic education (PKn) in building students' civic character at the elementary school level. Using a literature review method, data was collected from relevant books, journals, and articles, and then analyzed qualitatively. The research findings indicate that value-based learning methods, such as case studies, role-playing, and reflective discussions, are effective in instilling democratic values, justice, social responsibility, and active participation in students. However, challenges in implementation include limitations in human resources and facilities at schools. Nevertheless, opportunities to strengthen values-based civic education through the Merdeka Curriculum policy, teacher training, and support from parents and the community are wide open. In conclusion, values-based civic education at the elementary school level can strengthen students' character as responsible citizens, with the support of appropriate resources and policies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the understanding of elementary school students regarding population and the Indonesian government system, and its impact on the formation of their social awareness. The problem studied is how citizenship education based on the topic of population and government systems can improve students' social awareness in elementary school. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving interviews, observations, and documentation in several elementary school in Kendari City. The research informants consisted of students, teachers, and principals. The data analysis technique used a thematic analysis model. The results of the study showed that a better understanding of population and the Indonesian government system was positively related to an increase in students' social awareness. Learning that integrates theory with real social experiences produces a more applicable understanding. As a result, students show higher social awareness, although there are gaps in the application of knowledge in everyday life. This study contributes to the development of more contextual and participatory citizenship learning methods, as well as encouraging changes in teaching practices in elementary school.
