Abstract

The 2025 flood disaster in Ujong Pacu Village, Lhokseumawe City, disrupted access to preventive health services for children, including circumcision, which has medical, social, and religious aspects. This community service research aims to improve the health of flood survivor children through a community-based mass circumcision program. The implementation method uses a community-based intervention approach that includes preparation, medical procedures, and post-procedure monitoring and evaluation. Data were collected through activity observations, participant documentation, and post-circumcision health evaluations. The results of the activity indicate that the mass circumcision program, implemented continuously from 2015 to 2026, served 260 children with a 100% success rate without serious complications. This program not only improves children's preventive health but also strengthens social solidarity and the role of universities in post-disaster social rehabilitation. These findings confirm that community-based health interventions are effective as a community empowerment strategy in disaster-affected areas.

Abstract

The ejection seat system in fighter aircraft is a safety technology that plays a crucial role in saving pilots in flight emergencies. However, the high vertical acceleration during the early ejection phase and the propulsion phase exposes pilots to significant axial loads, increasing the risk of spinal cord injury. This systematic review was conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines by reviewing literature from Scopus (n = 20) and PubMed (n = 12) databases. After screening and assessing eligibility, 15 studies were included in the qualitative synthesis. The results showed that axial compression of the spine during the early ejection phase was the most common injury mechanism. Vertebral fractures, particularly in the thoracolumbar segment, were the most frequently reported acute injuries. In addition to biomechanical factors, pilot survival is also influenced by operational factors, particularly the timing of the ejection decision and the altitude at which ejection was initiated. Delayed ejection has been reported to be associated with an increased risk of fatality. Thus, injury severity and survival are influenced by the interaction between axial biomechanical loads and operational decisions in emergency situations. These findings demonstrate the importance of an integrated safety approach through the development of ejection system designs, improvements to operational training, and monitoring the occupational health of fighter aircraft crews.

Abstract

The great potential of village tourism and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has not been matched by effective marketing strategies or digital utilization. This community service aims to enhance MSME competitiveness and promote tourism through digital marketing training. The method involved workshops, interactive sessions, and technical mentoring for 30 participants, including MSME actors, village tourism managers, and local communities. Pre- and post-training questionnaires showed an increase in digital marketing understanding from an average score of 4.08 to 4.29, and in tourism marketing strategies from 4.04 to 4.37. These findings confirm digital marketing's effectiveness in market expansion and tourism development. However, limitations in infrastructure and digital literacy remain barriers. Further training, internet access improvement, and multi-sector collaboration are required for long-term impact.

Abstract

Empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is a crucial strategy for strengthening local economies and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 on inclusive economic growth. This community engagement program was implemented through SMEXPO Palembang 2025, held on 17–19 October 2025 at Palembang Square Mall. The activity involved 27 active MSMEs from the Southern Sumatra region and aimed at expanding market access, enhancing marketing capacity, and strengthening business networks. The implementation methods included a product exhibition (expo), branding and digital content workshops, direct booth-based mentoring, and multi-stakeholder collaboration involving academics, industry, local government, and business communities. The results indicate an improvement in MSME capacity in terms of branding, product display arrangement, digital literacy, and marketing communication. In addition to qualitative impacts, the program generated an economic turnover (Gross Merchandise Value/GMV) of IDR 128,758,952 over the three-day event. Overall, SMEXPO Palembang 2025 made a tangible contribution to strengthening the MSME ecosystem and aligned with SDG 8 by creating more inclusive and sustainable economic opportunities.

Abstract

The flood disaster that occurred in North Aceh on November 26, 2025, significantly disrupted the social and economic conditions of affected communities, particularly in Keude Geudong Village. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a community-based post-disaster recovery model that integrates emergency education and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) empowerment. A community-based participatory approach was employed, involving two main target groups: school-aged children and MSME actors. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and program documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The results show that the social intervention successfully restored access to education, achieving over 80% participation and improving children’s learning motivation and psychosocial well-being. In the economic sector, MSMEs experienced a 40–60% increase in production capacity and a 25–35% increase in income, supported by improved financial management and digital marketing adoption. The integration of appropriate technology and continuous mentoring further enhanced program effectiveness and sustainability. This study highlights that combining social and economic interventions within a community-based framework can generate synergistic impacts and strengthen post-disaster resilience. The proposed model offers a practical and replicable approach for sustainable recovery in disaster-affected communities.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) aims to increase understanding, legal awareness, and community capacity in maintaining public order and public peace, as well as community protection (Trantibumlinmas) in Ampenan District, Mataram City. The background to this activity is based on the still low level of public understanding of regulations, the less than optimal role of the Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas), and the lack of community participation in maintaining environmental security, especially in heterogeneous communities such as immigrant communities. The activity implementation method uses a participatory and educational approach through socialization, interactive discussions, community mentoring, and activity evaluation. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. This activity involves the community, village officials, community leaders, youth, and Satlinmas members as the main actors in the implementation of Trantibumlinmas. The results of the activity show an increase in community understanding of the Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 26 of 2020, increased legal awareness, and growing community participation in maintaining environmental order. In addition, the role of Satlinmas also shows improvements in aspects of early detection, environmental security, and social mediation at the village level. Thus, this Community Service Program (PKM) activity contributes to strengthening the synergy between the community, government, and the Public Order Agency (Satlinmas) in creating a safe, orderly, and conducive environment. The resulting recommendations include the need for continuous strengthening of the capacity of the Public Order Agency (Linmas) and an enhanced community-based participant approach to the implementation of the Public Order Agency (Trantibumlinmas).

Abstract

Desa Dalig Raya in Simalungun Regency possesses significant potential in red ginger commodities; however, its utilization remains limited to raw product sales, resulting in low economic value added. This study aims to enhance community income through innovation in processing red ginger into value-added ginger candy based on local potential. The research employs a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving stages of situation analysis, production training, and business management assistance. The results indicate that the innovation of red ginger candy products improves community skills, increases economic value added, and creates broader market opportunities in functional food products. Furthermore, the program strengthens community economic independence through downstreaming strategies and collaborative partnerships. Overall, this initiative contributes to improving community welfare by optimizing local resources and promoting sustainable rural economic development.
