Abstract

The agricultural sector is a key sector in a number of developing countries including Indonesia. The sector has a role in providing food and raw materials for other economic sectors, which can then encourage industrialization. However, the contribution of agriculture in Indonesia has also experienced a significant decline. So this research aims to find out what factors affect the contribution of agriculture to the National GDP with OLS regression, specifically assessing the extent of the role of bank credit in the agricultural sector. It also analyzes each periodization of the Indonesian presidential government. The results of the study show that labor and industry contribution to national GDP have greater elasticity compared to other variables. This also reflects that the economic transformation has an impact on the agricultural sector in Indonesia.

Abstract

Financial inclusion is a crucial pillar in promoting sustainable economic development, particularly in rural areas and small-scale communities. In Indonesia, microfinance institutions (MFIs) play a strategic role in expanding access to financial services to groups underserved by formal banking institutions. This study aims to assess the impact of Sharia-based and conventional MFIs on increasing financial inclusion and the economic development of farmers and small businesses in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. The study employed a quantitative approach, collecting data through a survey of 120 respondents who were active MFI customers. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression to measure the relationship between MFI service intensity and indicators of financial inclusion and local economic growth. The results indicate that both Sharia-based and conventional MFIs significantly influence financial inclusion. However, Sharia-based MFIs tend to contribute more to the development of sustainable financial behavior, while conventional MFIs show a direct impact on increasing business income. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening the role of MFIs in local economic development policies, particularly in promoting the welfare of farmers and MSMEs in rural areas.

Abstract

This study explains the shift in consumption patterns among communities from traditional foods to fast food. The purpose of this study is to explain the strategies used by the Nagari Kapau community in preserving the traditional Nasi Kapau dish in an era of globalization and modernization, such as KFC, McDonald's, and others. Bourdieu's Habitus Theory explains the ability of communities to adapt to modernization. The research methodology uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results show that the community's strategies for preserving Nasi Kapau include (1) maintaining the authenticity of the recipe, (2) innovating and adapting to the modern era, utilizing social media and food service platforms as promotional tools, and (3) holding local cultural events. These efforts are carried out collectively by traders, families, and the local community as a form of social and cultural responsibility. Nasi Kapau has survived globalization thanks to the collective awareness of the community in preserving traditional cuisine through a combination of cultural preservation, innovation, and the use of technology. This strategy not only preserves local culture but also strengthens the social identity of the Minangkabau community in the modern era.

Abstract

Deforestation within the Taman Nasional Kerinci Seblat (TNKS) in Kerinci Regency is a serious problem that impacts the sustainability of the ecosystem and the social life of the surrounding community. As a conservation area, TNKS plays an important role in preserving biodiversity, regulating water management, and supporting the livelihoods of local communities. However, pressure from agricultural land use, settlement, and economic activities has led to rampant forest encroachment. This research was motivated by increasing forest degradation in the TNKS area, which poses a threat to environmental sustainability and social welfare. The purpose of this study is to analyze the environmental and social impacts of forest encroachment in the foothills of Mount Kerinci, Kerinci Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a field study approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data was obtained from the surrounding community, TNKS management officials, and supporting documents, then analyzed qualitatively with an emphasis on the cause-and-effect relationship between encroachment activities and their impacts. The results of the study show that the environmental impacts include loss of forest cover, declining water quality, increased soil erosion, reduced wildlife habitat, and increased risk of ecological disasters such as floods and landslides. Meanwhile, the social impacts that have emerged include increased conflict between the community and TNKS management, shifts in local cultural values, social inequality due to land disputes, and the community's economic dependence on illegal activities in the forest area. Thus, forest encroachment in TNKS not only threatens environmental sustainability but also causes complex social problems for the surrounding community.

Abstract

This study examines the pandek traditional work system in ornamental grass farming in Sukolilo Village, Wajak District, Malang Regency, as a form of social capital that supports the sustainability of farmer communities. Pandek is a traditional work pattern without formal contracts based on trust, norms of reciprocity, and kinship networks. The research uses a qualitative approach with an explanatory case study method, and is analyzed through Putnam's social capital theory, specifically the concepts of bonding and bridging capital. The results show that the pandek system helps farmers save up to 20% of production costs through efficiency based on social solidarity. Bonding capital is evident in the relationship between large farmers who share information and resources, while the relationship between farmers and pandek laborers forms a patron-client pattern as a form of bridging capital. This system supports sustainability in three key aspects: economic (efficiency and job stability), social (cohesion and equitable resource distribution), and ecological (chemical-free agricultural practices). However, this system harbors a paradox: sustainability is achieved through unequal labor relations and low labor wages. Therefore, policy innovation based on strengthening social capital is needed to create more equitable sustainability at the local level.

Abstract

The rapid development of the digital economy has significantly transformed trade structures in Indonesia, including traditional markets that have long been the backbone of community-based economic activities. This study aims to analyze the changes and impacts experienced by traditional traders in Pasar Raya Padang in the digital economy era. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis with source and method triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that traditional traders in Pasar Raya Padang are undergoing social changes marked by adaptation gaps to digital technology. Younger traders tend to adopt social media platforms and electronic payment systems to expand their market reach, while older traders face difficulties due to limited digital literacy. The economic impact is ambivalent: adaptive traders experience increased income, while non-adaptive traders face declining sales. Socially, face-to-face interactions have decreased, yet new, more transactional relationships have emerged in digital spaces. This study concludes that Pasar Raya Padang represents a dynamic interaction between tradition and modernity, resulting in a hybrid form of trade. The findings highlight the importance of empowering traditional traders through digital literacy programs, supportive policies, and community collaboration to maintain the competitiveness of traditional markets in the digital era.
