Abstract

Arabic is one of the important languages ​​learned for spiritual, educational, and communicative purposes. One of the main challenges in learning Arabic is mastering the vocabulary, which is the foundation for understanding and using the language. This study aims to explore the implementation of the al-iktisyaf book memorization method to improve vocabulary mastery among students at nurur rohman islamic boarding school. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with primary data obtained through observation, interviews with teachers, students, and Islamic boarding school administrators, as well as secondary data from books, journals, and related documentation. The results of the study indicate that the Al-Iktisyaf Book memorization method, which includes the technique of memorizing nash, nadhom, and the rules of nahwu sharraf, significantly improves the mastery of the students' vocabulary. The memorization process is carried out with flexible time, where students submit their memorization to the teacher individually. Supporting factors for the success of this method include motivation from the teacher through praise and support, memorization repetition strategies, and routine evaluation. In addition, this method is supported by initial learning using the bandongan method which provides basic understanding to students before they memorize. This study concludes that the application of the Al-Iktisyaf Book memorization method at the Nurur Rohman Jember Islamic Boarding School is effective in enriching vocabulary and improving students' Arabic language skills. This is indicated by the increasing ability of students to remember and use new vocabulary in the context of vocabulary in the context of learning the Al-Iktisyaf book. With this method, students not only expand their vocabulary but also improve their ability to read and understand Arabic texts, which supports holistic mastery of language skills.

Abstract

The Muhadatsah program is a key component of Arabic language instruction, delivered through dialogues that emphasize interactive, two-way communication between speakers and listeners. Communicative and contextual approaches are central to this method, aiming to develop students’ speaking skills (maharah kalam) for effective, real-life communication rather than focusing solely on grammar or vocabulary memorization. This study aims to: (1) describe the implementation of the Muhadatsah program using communicative and contextual approaches at Ma'had Tahfidz Al-Qur'an Al-Amien; (2) identify challenges and solutions in its implementation; and (3) analyze the program’s contribution to students' speaking proficiency. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, focusing on the "Takmili" class of 40 female students at the Al-Amien Qur’an Memorization Institute in Brendowan, Sumenep, Madura. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The program is conducted twice a week under the guidance of conversation instructors, using materials such as textbooks and audio recordings of native Arabic speakers. Lessons are designed to reflect students’ daily lives. Challenges include students' limited vocabulary and speaking confidence, and teachers' time constraints and varying student proficiency. Despite these challenges, the program significantly contributes to three areas: contextual vocabulary use, mastery of everyday expressions, and language enrichment across various topics and situations.

Abstract

Arabic texts often have complex structures and vocabulary, requiring effective strategies for student engagement. The Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy encourages students to make predictions, check their understanding, and evaluate texts actively. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of DRTA in enhancing student engagement in reading skill learning. Using a quasi-experimental approach, it analyzes students' participation and comprehension before and after DRTA implementation. The results show that active involvement in learning is key to success. DRTA helps students comprehend materials more easily and develop critical thinking skills. The experimental class using DRTA showed significant improvement in test scores, from 34.00 to 70.00, while the non-experimental class showed little change. This emphasizes the importance of active, interactive learning in improving outcomes. The study suggests that DRTA is effective in enhancing Arabic reading skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

In studying the science of meaning or semantics (dalalah science) there are many kinds of meaning, two of which are denotation meaning and connotation meaning. In Arabic, denotation and connotation meanings are not only limited to one dimension as in Indonesian. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to find out the meanings in Arabic that are commensurate with denotation and connotation meanings. This research is a library research with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data collection method uses library techniques. And using thematic analysis techniques, namely identifying themes related to denotative meaning and connotative meaning of Arabic contained in books, books, and scientific journals. Because there is no literature that provides an explicit classification of the meaning of denotative and connotative equivalents in Arabic, this paper will contribute to providing an understanding of the differences in denotative and connotative meanings in Arabic. The three equivalent meanings are: the first is the basic meaning and the Idafi meaning, the second is the haqiqi meaning and the majazi meaning, the third is the mukjami meaning and the siyaqi meaning. The three meanings have a relationship or connection with each other.

Abstract

Surah Yasin has several privileges and virtues for those who read and understand it, in addition to the privileges obtained by those who understand it. Surah Yasin itself also has the privilege of several aspects, one of which is in the linguistic aspect in which it contains a lot of 'only' and other language styles such as hyperbole and personification. This research tries to uncover the existence of hyperbolic language styles and personifications structure contained in the Qur'an especially in Surah Yasin. The research method used by the researcher is a literature study by reading various literature and understanding theories related to and relevant to the topic being studied, with the analysis model using ‘content analysis’ adopted by the researcher from the content analysis model of the Kripperndorff Clause. The results of this research found that there were five verses containing a hyperbolic language style in Surah Yasin, those are in verses 28, 29, 75, 78, and 72. Then five verses were found that contained a personification structure in Surah Yasin, those are in verses 33, 38, 40, 46, and 49.

Abstract

Collocations in Arabic, especially in Qur'anic texts, play a significant role in constructing linguistic meaning and function. Although corpus linguistic studies of the Qur'ān have grown, research specifically analysing collocations of verbs and prepositions in this sacred text is limited. While previous studies have focused more on analysing the semantics of individual words or their morphological relationships, this study offers a novelty by integrating corpus-based collocation analysis in examining the relationship between the verb āmana ‘believe’ and its accompanying prepositions in Surah Al-Baqarah. This study uses a corpus linguistic approach to systematically identify collocation patterns with the help of AntConc software. The analysis includes frequency of occurrence, lexical distribution, as well as semantic interpretation of collocations in the context of the Qur'an. The results show that the collocation āmana bi ‘believe in’ is the most dominant form, appearing 18 times, which reflects the transcendental faith relationship between the subject and the object of belief, such as Allah or His revelation. Meanwhile, the collocations āmana li ‘believe for’ and āmana min ‘believe from’ reveal more complex social nuances and origins of faith, suggesting that the meaning of faith in the Qur'ān has wider contextual variations compared to conventional meanings. Thus, this study contributes to the study of corpus linguistics, Qur'anic exegesis, and Arabic language teaching, particularly in understanding how collocation patterns play a role in shaping theological meaning. The novelty of this research lies in the application of corpus-based collocation analysis in the study of sacred texts, which has rarely been done comprehensively in Arabic linguistic studies. The results of this study can also support a more accurate and contextualised translation of the Qur'an.

Abstract

The lack of prior knowledge among the students and the tedious lecture-based teaching techniques provide difficulties for Arabic reading education at MTs Shirothul Fuqoha' Malang. In order to improve maharah qira'ah through an interactive method, comic-based educational resources were created using Canva. The objectives of this study were to describe the creative process, ascertain viability, and evaluate efficacy. The study included 53 eighth-grade students who were split into two groups: experimental (25) and control (28) participants. Observation, interviews, surveys, and tests were used to gather data, which SPSS 25 was then used to evaluate for validity, reliability, normalcy, and T-tests. The requirements analysis was the first of 10 steps in the media development process. The instructional medium received a good rating of 96%, while the content and language received an 86% rating from expert validation. The final media was created following experiments and adjustments. According to the findings, the experimental group's post-test score (83.33) was 11.73 points higher on average than the control group's (71.60). With a significant value of 0.000, the Independent Sample T-Test verified the effectiveness of the media in improving maharah qira'ah at MTs Shirothul Fuqoha' Malang.

Abstract

Pronunciation errors in reading Arabic texts remain a significant challenge for students in the Arabic Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Makassar. These errors primarily involve difficulties in articulating specific Arabic letters, distinguishing between long and short vowels, and maintaining fluency while reading. Mispronunciations often lead to changes in meaning, which can hinder students' comprehension of texts, particularly in academic and religious contexts. To address these issues, this study aims to implement ath-thariqah as-shautiyyah as a phonetic-based teaching method to improve students' pronunciation accuracy in the Qiraah course. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation of students struggling with pronunciation. The analysis process involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing to identify pronunciation errors and measure improvements following the implementation of ath-thariqah as-shautiyyah. The findings reveal that the method significantly enhances students’ ability to pronounce challenging Arabic letters, differentiate between short and long vowels, and read texts with greater fluency. The structured approach, which includes listening exercises, imitation, and systematic repetition, plays a crucial role in fostering phonological awareness. Additionally, students demonstrated increased confidence in reading Arabic texts aloud, indicating that the method also positively impacts their overall learning experience. In conclusion, ath-thariqah as-shautiyyah proves to be an effective strategy for overcoming pronunciation difficulties in Arabic reading instruction. Given its success in improving phonetic accuracy, fluency, and confidence, this method should be widely adopted in Qiraah courses.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' interest in using ChatGPT as a learning aid in Arabic language education and analyze the factors influencing their engagement. ChatGPT has significant potential to support language learning; however, its effectiveness depends on students' willingness to use it. This research employs a mixed-methods approach with an explanatory sequential design. Quantitative data were collected through a questionnaire involving 72 Arabic Language Education (PBA) students at UINSI Samarinda. The questionnaire results were analyzed descriptively to determine the level of student interest. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 students who participated in the survey to explore the factors influencing their engagement. The findings indicate that students show a high level of interest in using ChatGPT for Arabic language learning, particularly in translation (77.4%), writing (75.5%), and reading comprehension (72.5%). Factors influencing their interest include ease of use, translation accuracy, the ability to generate writing ideas, and the capability to correct language errors. This study confirms that integrating ChatGPT into Arabic language learning can enhance students' interest and overall learning experience.

Abstract

Listen ability is the initial skill that must be mastered by students because naturally humans first understand langue through hearing. However, the method used by educator is still teacher-centered and the limeted ude of learning media also affects the listening process of student. The learning media developed is a problem-based learning video. Learning using videos can insrease students understanding and student contentration on learning because of the combination of images, text and sound. Therefore, this study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of problem-based learning media based on problem based learning using the capcut application at Sd Islam Cendikia Faiha Palembang. This research uses the Research and Development method of the Borg and Gall model.The content / material expert validation questionnaire showed 80% results with a valid category and the media expert validation questionnaire obtained 80% esukt, both of which included a very valid category. The result showed that the student needs questionnaire reached 69.74% and the satisfaction questionnaire reached 76,07% both with the word valid category. The test between wo classes, namely the control class and the experimental class, showed a significant value of the control class pre test of 0,086, the control call post test of 0,100 and the significant value of experimental class pre test of 0,095 and the experimental post test of 0,241, so the date wa normally distributed. The homogeneity test obtained a value of 0,317 with the homogen category. Independent simple t-test significant value (2-tailed) 0,000 there is a significant defference in value between the control class and the experimental class. And the results of the clculation of the average value in the control class 38,39% including the less effective categoy while the average value in the experimental class reached 68,72% with a fairly effective category.
