Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of tourist attractions on the religious behavior of the community in Ngadiharjo Village, Borobudur District. The increasing development of tourism in the area has brought diverse external influences through incoming visitors, potentially shifting local religious practices. Using a phenomenological approach within Islamic studies, this qualitative field research collected data through interviews with religious leaders, community figures, and local residents, supported by observation and documentation. The findings reveal both positive and negative impacts. On the positive side, tourism has encouraged the revival of Islamic-based traditions, such as the merti desa ritual, and improved economic conditions by creating jobs and reducing unemployment. On the negative side, exposure to tourists has led to behavioral shifts that conflict with Islamic values, including changes in dress and lifestyle influenced by Western norms. Contributing factors include an increasingly open mindset among locals, environmental influences from tourist interactions, and broader socio-cultural changes driven by infrastructure development.

Abstract

The development of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum in higher education plays a strategic role in shaping graduates who are not only intellectually excellent but also possess strong Islamic character. This article aims to examine in depth the processes of development, implementation, evaluation, and the challenges of the PAI curriculum at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Tarbiyah Madinatul Ilmi (STITMA) Yogyakarta. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings show that STITMA applies an integrative curriculum approach that combines contemporary scientific knowledge with Islamic values, supported by active learning models such as project-based learning and the use of digital technology. Curriculum evaluation is conducted regularly and participatively, forming the basis for curriculum revisions that are aligned with real needs and national education policies. Despite challenges such as limited resources, resistance to innovation, and digital readiness issues, the development of the PAI curriculum at STITMA has shown a transformative direction that is adaptive and relevant to the demands of the times. This article recommends strengthening cross-sector collaboration and enhancing lecturer capacity as strategic steps to improve the quality of the PAI curriculum in the future.

Abstract

This research examines the strengthening of Al-Qur’an literacy through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SD Ashabul Kahfi PK Sidoharjo. Al-Qur’an literacy in this context goes beyond the mechanical ability to read Arabic script; it also includes the comprehension of meaning, internalization of Qur’anic values, and their application in everyday life. Employing a qualitative approach with data collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis, the study reveals that Qur’anic literacy reinforcement is primarily implemented through the habituation of reading the Qur’an before daily learning activities.  This program is designed to prepare students’ mental and spiritual readiness while embedding religious values into their daily routines, serving as a preventive measure against moral decline in the era of globalization. Key supporting factors in the implementation of the program include strong collaboration among school stakeholders—teachers, principals, and administrative staff—as well as active parental involvement. These elements contribute to a school environment that consistently promotes Qur’anic engagement and values-based education.  However, a notable challenge remains: the lack of awareness among some students regarding the deeper significance of Qur’anic learning. This is reflected in the low intrinsic motivation and passive participation observed during Qur’an reading sessions. Despite this, the program has shown measurable effectiveness in enhancing students’ Qur’anic reading fluency and comprehension, while also positively contributing to their character formation.  The educational approach adopted by the school is oriented toward Rabbani values those centered on spiritual consciousness and moral excellence. Through consistent Qur’an-based character education, students are encouraged to develop noble traits such as discipline, humility, patience, and emotional regulation. In conclusion, the Qur’anic literacy program at SD Ashabul Kahfi PK Sidoharjo presents a valuable model for integrating religious instruction with holistic character education, contributing meaningfully to the school’s broader mission of shaping spiritually resilient and morally upright individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of management at Sumedang Jaya Wisata (SJW) in supporting the development of community-based halal tourism in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. Halal tourism is understood as a destination management approach that not only emphasizes economic and aesthetic aspects but also highlights Islamic spiritual values such as cleanliness, trustworthiness, community participation, and environmental sustainability. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including field observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants consist of SJW managers, business actors, and village officials directly involved in managing the tourism area. The results show that the management implementation at SJW includes key functions such as facility management, improved accessibility, delegation of authority, and tourism promotion. However, several challenges remain in implementation, particularly regarding the quality of human resources, limited budget, lack of technological innovation, low public awareness of public facility governance, and suboptimal promotion of halal tourism. Islamic values such as maslahah (public benefit), ukhuwah (brotherhood), muhasabah (self-reflection), and amanah (trust) have not yet been fully internalized into managerial practices. This study recommends the need for sharia-based tourism management training, strengthening of local halal tourism regulations, the formation of a community education team, and the digitalization of promotion and services. With more structured and Islamic value-based management, Sumedang Jaya Wisata has the potential to become a leading halal tourism destination that is competitive and sustainable.

Abstract

This paper presents a comparative analysis of the permissibility of seafood within the Hanafi and Shafi'i schools of Islamic jurisprudence. Although both schools derive their rulings from the Qur'an and Hadith, they offer divergent interpretations regarding various marine life. Whereas the Shafi'i madhab generally permits all types of seafood based on the broad textual evidence, the Hanafi school restricts permissible sea creatures chiefly to fish, relying on a more cautious and often literalist textual interpretation. By examining Qur'anic verses, Hadith evidence, the methodological underpinnings of classical jurisprudence, and the perspectives of various scholars, this study elucidates the historical and contextual basis for these legal differences. Furthermore, contemporary case studies are included to explore how these rulings affect dietary practices in Muslim communities today, thereby demonstrating the legal pluralism inherent in the Islamic juridical tradition.

Abstract

The concept of waswas is a recurring theme in Islamic teachings, particularly in the Quran, where it is depicted as a subtle yet powerful tool used by Shaytan to mislead believers. This study explores the nature of waswas as described in the Quran, its psychological and spiritual implications, and the strategies prescribed in Islamic teachings to combat it. By analyzing key Quranic verses and interpretations from classical and contemporary scholars, this paper aims to provide a deeper understanding of waswas and its effects on faith, decision-making, and mental well-being. The study further highlights practical approaches, including supplications (du'a), remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and adherence to Islamic principles, to resist and overcome satanic whisperings. Ultimately, this research seeks to offer a comprehensive perspective on maintaining spiritual resilience in the face of these challenges. By understanding the nature of waswas and implementing Quranic guidance, believers can cultivate greater spiritual resilience and maintain focus in their religious and personal lives. This paper aims to equip readers with a deeper understanding of waswas and effective methods to combat it.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the imperfect status of ownership in the distribution of common property (gono-gini) from the perspective of Islamic law and positive Indonesian law, especially in the context of assets that are still pledged or have not been paid off. This problem becomes particularly relevant considering the number of married couples who acquire assets in the form of credit during their marriage period. This study employs a normative juridical method with a comparative approach, analyzing the norms of Islamic law, the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), and the Supreme Court Circular Letter (SEMA) No. 3 of 2018, and comparing them with judicial practices in religious courts. The results show that positive legal approaches that emphasize formal ownership tend to overlook each party's actual contribution in acquiring property, thereby risking the creation of injustice. On the contrary, the principle of substantive justice in Islamic law provides room for recognizing real contributions through conditional apportionment mechanisms and proportional assessments that are more adaptable to the socio-economic dynamics of households.

Abstract

This study explores the role of spatiality in the Qur’anic narrative of Prophet Moses, examining six central locations, Egypt, the river, the palace, Midian, the sea, and Mount Ṭur as transformative stages in the prophetic journey.  Drawing upon classical Qur’anic exegesis and Gadamerian hermeneutics, the research employs a textual-analytical approach to explore how each place functions not merely as a geographical site but as a locus of divine pedagogy and existential formation. The study addresses a gap in Qur’anic studies and educational philosophy by highlighting how spatial interpretation reveals the pedagogical dimensions of prophetic experience and the construction of spiritual identity. Through this lens, the paper contributes to developing a Qur’anic philosophy of sacred space and deepens understanding of divine education in the Qur’anic worldview.

Abstract

This study describes the role of the Muhammadiyah diaspora in supporting global Islamic education and spreading progressive Islamic values. The research was carried out with a qualitative approach through literature studies, by collecting data from various literature, official documents, and online databases, which were then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings show that the Muhammadiyah diaspora plays an active role in organizing formal, non-formal, and informal education that is adjusted to the social, cultural, and political situation of the community in the destination country. The da'wah strategy implemented includes academic, cultural, and digital approaches, so that the message of Islam that is moderate, inclusive, and contextual can be conveyed widely. On the other hand, they face challenges in the form of limited resources, differences of internal views, strict government policies against religious minority groups, and negative stigma against Islam in some countries. Nevertheless, the diaspora is able to maintain its identity by strengthening internal communication, fostering cadres in an ongoing manner, establishing cross-organizational cooperation, and adapting to local culture without ignoring the basic principles of Islam. This study concludes that the Muhammadiyah diaspora has succeeded in combining tradition and modernity in its role as an agent of spreading progressive Islam, as well as opening up space for further research on the contribution of the next generation of the diaspora in the future.
