This study develops a framework model for Linguistic Landscape (LL) strategies aimed at strengthening national identity in tourism areas, focusing on the integration of local culture and multilingual communication. Using the Riau Islands and West Sumatra as case studies, regions recognized for their cultural richness and tourism potential. This research employs a mixed methods approach to analyze public signage in prominent tourist destinations. Among the multilingual signs, 80% successfully incorporate local cultural elements, fostering a stronger connection to regional heritage while improving navigation and communication for foreign tourists. Statistical analysis indicates a positive correlation between culturally integrated, multilingual signage and tourist satisfaction, with 88% very agreed level of stakeholders preferring signs that blend local identity with practical information in multiple languages. The proposed framework emphasizes the strategic incorporation of local linguistic and cultural elements into public signage to preserve national identity amidst globalization and modern tourism demands. This approach not only promotes inclusivity but also enhances the competitive positioning of Riau Islands and West Sumatra as culturally distinctive and welcoming tourist destinations. The study concludes that adopting this framework can support sustainable tourism development while fostering pride in national and regional heritage.

Abstract

Improving the quality of teaching requires a thorough attention on various critical areas. Anxiety is a significant issue in the classroom, which has an impact on the current subject being discussed. Novice educators often encounter nervousness. Teaching loses its effectiveness in terms of conveying information to pupils. The presence of anxiety throughout the learning process has negative effects on the level of discomfort experienced. Technological advancements can significantly reduce this problem, especially in reducing anxiety throughout the learning process. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of using the PowToon application in reducing teacher anxiety while teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) courses. This literature study analyzed eight scholarly studies that investigated the effects of incorporating PowToon and other electronic media in educational training. The study's findings indicate that PowToon provides a multitude of advantages for learning. PowToon is highly regarded as a helpful tool for educators due to its ability to facilitate teaching and explanation. Using PowToon helps stimulate students' creativity by mitigating the monotony sometimes associated with uninteresting educational settings. The findings suggest that the use of PowToon media can successfully reduce anxiety, boost instructor confidence, and make the learning process more enjoyable. Hence, this study can provide valuable perspectives for instructors who lack confidence in their pedagogical skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify, analyze, and discuss the translation techniques used in the subtitle of an animated movie, as well as the phenomena found during the research process. The methodology used in this research is a qualitative analysis with a descriptive approach, but a simple quantitative approach is applied to find out the most dominant techniques. The utterances of two main characters in the film are collected, which are then categorized by type according to the theory proposed by Molina and Albir. These utterances are then analyzed and described accordingly. The research findings show that there are 13 out of 18 techniques used in the subtitle, with literal translation (146 data) as the most dominant technique. This result is in line with previous studies on the similar topic, which also have literal translation as the most dominant technique used. In summary, it can be said that there are only a few translation techniques that are actually suitable in translating movie subtitles. As the implication of this study, this research contributes to the study of language in film media and knowledge enrichment for those who are interested in translation techniques.
