Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower communities through ecobrick-based environmental literacy as an innovative approach to plastic waste management. The program was implemented using a participatory approach, with several stages: observation, problem identification, socialization, training, and continuous mentoring to encourage active community participation. The activities focused on increasing public awareness of environmental issues and on promoting practical solutions to reduce plastic waste through ecobrick production. The results showed that community members, especially women's groups and youth organizations, were able to transform plastic waste into ecobricks that were further utilized as functional products, such as plant pots and simple waste bins. In addition, the program successfully improved community understanding of environmental cleanliness, waste reduction, and the importance of sustainable environmental practices. The implications of this program suggest that ecobrick-based environmental literacy can be an effective strategy for strengthening community participation, encouraging environmentally responsible behavior, and supporting sustainable plastic waste management at the local level. Furthermore, the program fostered long-term environmental awareness and collective responsibility within the community.

Abstract

This article aims to develop a conceptual framework for educational human resource management innovation by integrating the local wisdom of sauyunan and teachers’ Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) in the context of elementary schools. This study employed a qualitative approach through conceptual analysis of literature on educational management, local wisdom, school culture, and teacher organizational behavior. The findings indicate that sauyunan functions as cultural capital that strengthens cooperation, mutual support, trust, and harmony within the school organization. Meanwhile, teachers’ OCB serves as a behavioral mechanism that transforms cultural values into voluntary, proactive, and collaborative actions beyond formal job requirements. The integration of sauyunan and OCB produces a contextual, participatory, and sustainable model of educational human resource management innovation that is relevant to the socio-cultural characteristics of elementary schools. The study implies that school leaders and policymakers should design teacher development strategies that do not rely solely on administrative or technological reforms, but also strengthen cultural values and voluntary organizational behavior as foundations for improving school quality and institutional sustainability over time.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health concern in Islamic boarding schools due to the high risk of disease transmission in communal living environments. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the "Lawan TBC" educational movement in improving students' knowledge of tuberculosis prevention. A pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted among 38 students in grades 10–12 at an Islamic boarding school in Surabaya. The intervention included lectures, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions on TB transmission, symptoms, prevention, and proper cough etiquette. Knowledge was assessed using questionnaires administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The mean pretest score was 35.53 ± 10.05, increasing to 46.32 ± 7.86 in the posttest, with a mean difference of 10.79 points. Statistical analysis showed a significant improvement in knowledge after the intervention (p = 9.45 × 10⁻⁸; p < 0.01). The findings demonstrate that the "Lawan TBC" educational movement effectively improves students' knowledge of tuberculosis prevention. Educational programs in Islamic boarding schools can support TB prevention efforts and promote preventive health behaviors among adolescents.

Abstract

Companions in cases of violence against women and children play an essential role in providing protection and recovery services for victims. This study aims to enhance companion capacity through a skill booster program focused on case management standards, victim-centred assessment, cross-agency coordination, and ethical gender-sensitive assistance. The program was implemented using a participatory capacity-building approach involving workshops, case studies, simulations, and focus group discussions. Evaluation used pre-test and post-test questionnaires, analysed with Respondent Achievement Level analysis. Results show an increase in mean score from 3.81 to 4.16, indicating improved competencies in case management understanding, victim assessment skills, and ethical practice implementation, while coordination across service networks remains limited. The findings imply that continuous capacity development is required to strengthen integrated service systems, improve inter-institutional collaboration, and enhance the professionalism and responsiveness of companions in handling violence cases against women and children. Strengthening referral mechanisms and periodic training is recommended to ensure sustainable service quality and effective victim protection outcomes at the institutional level through a continuous monitoring and evaluation system improvement cycle.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in writing best practices based on creative and innovative learning experiences. Many teachers encountered difficulties in systematically documenting innovative instructional practices due to limited academic writing skills and the absence of structured mentoring. The program employed a participatory training and mentoring approach consisting of five stages: identification of teachers’ needs, program preparation, training implementation, evaluation, and continuous mentoring. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and pretest-posttest assessments to measure participants’ understanding and writing abilities. The findings revealed a significant improvement in teachers’ competencies, as indicated by a 9.32% increase in pretest and posttest scores. In addition, participants demonstrated greater confidence and motivation in documenting and disseminating their innovative teaching experiences in written form. The program implies that systematic training and mentoring in best practice writing can strengthen teachers’ professional competencies, promote reflective teaching practices, and encourage the broader dissemination of innovative learning models in educational settings.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of community empowerment initiatives in strengthening inclusive, child-friendly, and disability-responsive early childhood education environments. The research focuses on how structured teacher and parent training can improve pedagogical competence, increase awareness of children with diverse learning needs, and strengthen collaboration between school and home. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining quantitative assessments of participants' knowledge and attitudes with qualitative data from observations, reflections, and stakeholder feedback. The results indicate that targeted empowerment programs contributed to positive changes in teachers' ability to adapt learning strategies, parents' understanding of inclusive support at home, and the development of a more collaborative school culture. Participants showed improved awareness that inclusion is not limited to physical access but also requires emotional, instructional, and social support. This study implies that sustainable inclusive education requires continuous training, active parental participation, and institutional commitment to create responsive learning ecosystems where every child can participate meaningfully.

Abstract

This mentoring activity aimed to improve the quality of Al-Qur’an memorization learning through the preparation and implementation of the Tahfizh Lesson Plan (RPP) at Kiai Khotib Tahfidz Madrasah. The main problem addressed was the absence of structured tahfizh learning tools, which caused learning activities to be less focused and students’ memorization outcomes to be measured unsystematically. This activity employed a descriptive qualitative method with a participatory strategy involving teacher mentoring, classroom observation, documentation, and pretest-posttest activities with 25 students in the tahfizh program. The results showed improvements in students’ memorization ability, recitation discipline, and consistency in muroja’ah. In addition, teachers demonstrated better readiness, confidence, and competence in managing tahfizh learning based on the prepared lesson plan. These findings indicate that a well-structured Tahfizh Lesson Plan can serve as a sustainable learning tool to guide teachers and improve the effectiveness of memorization activities. The implication of this activity is the need for consistent implementation of the Tahfizh RPP and continuous teacher mentoring, which can be replicated in other madrasas to strengthen the quality of Al-Qur’an memorization learning.

Abstract

Bed turnover time is a critical performance indicator in inpatient services because it directly influences bed availability, patient flow, and operational efficiency. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of workflow redesign and staff coordination support on bed turnover time in an inpatient unit. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was used, with retrospective operational data collected from January to April 2026. January represented the pre-intervention period, while February to April represented the post-intervention period. A total of 1,492 bed turnover events were analyzed, consisting of 479 pre-intervention and 1,013 post-intervention cases. The intervention included workflow restructuring, time-monitoring alerts, assignment of a final checker, improved coordination between nursing and housekeeping staff, infection prevention and control monitoring, and daily performance evaluation. The results showed a reduction in mean bed turnover time from 133.71 to 125.98 minutes and a decrease in median from 48.12 to 42.23 minutes. Statistical analysis indicated a significant difference between periods (Z = -4.01; p < 0.001). These findings suggest that structured workflow optimization and strengthened interprofessional coordination improve bed readiness and inpatient operational efficiency, supporting sustainable hospital performance improvement.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy and strengthen entrepreneurial awareness among students of SMAN 4 Banjarmasin through a digital-based waste sorting learning model in wetland ecosystems. The method applied in this activity is Participatory Technology Development (PTD), which integrates socialization sessions, AI literacy workshops, and hands-on implementation using a web-based application system powered by Gemini AI Vision Recognition. This system is designed to identify wetland waste characteristics that are typically wet, mixed, and contaminated with sediment, making conventional sorting methods less effective. The results of the program show a significant improvement in students’ cognitive understanding, indicated by an increase in the average score from 5.67 in the pre-test to 7.76 in the post-test. In addition, 93.1% of participants reported that they had never interacted with AI technology before, while 91.0% expressed high satisfaction with the learning experience. The implication of this activity is the development of an innovative circular economy-based environmental education model that integrates AI technology into waste management learning. This model is expected to be scalable and adaptable for other schools in wetland regions, enabling the transformation of environmental challenges into opportunities for digital innovation and student entrepreneurship development.
