Abstract

The increasing number of elderly people in Indonesia encourages the importance of a comprehensive social protection system, especially for neglected elderly groups who are physically, socially and psychologically vulnerable. This study aims to examine in depth the experience of neglected elderly people in receiving social protection at Beringin Bhakti Foundation, Cirebon Regency. The method used is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation of four elderly informants and one caregiver. The results showed that the social protection provided included fulfillment of basic needs, health services, spiritual guidance, skills empowerment, and integrated psychosocial assistance. This intervention has proven to be able to restore the physical and emotional condition of the elderly, build a sense of security, and restore their dignity as valuable individuals. Support from the Social Service, volunteers and the community are the main supporting factors, although there are still obstacles in the form of lack of family involvement. This research contributes to the development of an elderly social protection model based on a holistic and community approach.

Abstract

Education with a global perspective at the elementary school level is a strategic approach in shaping the character of students who care, think critically, and have broad insights from an early age. This article examines a number of global issues such as the environment, human rights, social inequality, cultural migration, and the development of information technology, and explores how these issues can be integrated into contextual, fun, and relevant learning for elementary school students. The role of teachers as learning facilitators is crucial in realizing global education through thematic, project-based approaches and strengthening multicultural literacy. This approach is in line with the values of the Pancasila Student Profile and contributes to forming a generation that is ready to face global challenges, without losing the roots of national identity and culture.

Abstract

This research analyzes ethical violations in five presidential and vice presidential debate sessions in the 2024 Election using a qualitative approach based on content analysis. The main data sources come from debate video transcripts, code of ethics documents, and media coverage. Each statement is classified according to five indicators: information quality, clarity, relevance, politeness, and public responsibility. The findings show a significant tendency for violations: the use of technical jargon without explanation, unverified data claims, veiled personal attacks, polarizing rhetoric, and simplification of complex issues. For example, in the vice presidential debate, Gibran used the term SGIE and rhetorical techniques to attack other statements, which were conveyed as “unethical” communication due to minimal context or explanation. The third presidential debate was also dominated by an ad hominem style that triggered polarization and reduced the substance of public discourse. These results support Grice's pragmatic theory and Habermas's deliberative theory on the importance of transparency, respect, and rationality in public debate. Continuous violations of broadcasting debates as a means of political education increase societal polarization and reduce public trust. Recommendations include improving debate moderation, direct verification by the media, and implementing a stricter code of ethics in each national debate session.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of difficulty and development of early writing skills in children with Down Syndrome at SLB Negeri X Kudus. The approach used is quantitative descriptive with a single subject, namely an elementary school student with intellectual disabilities due to Down Syndrome. Data collection techniques were carried out through structured observations during six meetings, documentation of student work results, and assessments using a scale of 1–5 on five main indicators, namely the ability to recognize letters, connect letters with sounds, copy writing, writing forms, and independence. Data were analyzed statistically using SPSS software through descriptive statistical tests and paired sample t-tests. The results showed a significant increase in students' writing skills, from a total score of 8 at the first meeting to 20 at the sixth meeting. The t-test showed a significance value of 0.000, which indicated that the difference was statistically significant. This increase was influenced by the use of visual media such as images and videos, a gradual approach (task analysis), and consistent positive reinforcement from the teacher. This study concludes that an adaptive, visual, and responsive learning approach to students' emotional needs is effective in developing early literacy skills in children with Down Syndrome.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum is an educational reform that emphasizes learning freedom and character strengthening of students. Teachers play a key role in the successful implementation of this curriculum. This study aims to examine the extent to which teacher qualification standards influence the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at SMP Negeri 27 Medan. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through interviews and observations involving teachers and students. The results show that teacher qualifications, which include pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies, significantly affect the success of the curriculum's implementation. Although some teachers welcome the Independent Curriculum and find its flexibility helpful, there are still implementation obstacles due to inadequate qualifications and understanding. Meanwhile, the majority of students struggle to adapt to the new learning model. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening teacher qualifications to support the effectiveness of the Independent Curriculum.

Abstract

Political personalization is an increasingly dominant communication strategy in the practice of digital democracy, where the focus of politics shifts from institutions and ideologies to individual figures. This study aims to analyze the influence of political personalization on voter behavior, especially in the context of social media that allows direct and intense interaction between candidates and the public. Using a qualitative approach through literature study, this article examines how political personalization strategies are constructed and accepted by the public, as well as their impact on the quality of voter rationality. The results of the study show that voters, especially the younger generation, are more likely to respond to visual and emotional aspects of political figures such as communication style, personal narratives, and symbolic closeness on social media. Political personalization creates an impressive relationship between candidates and voters, but on the other hand also simplifies the complexity of politics into a contestation of personal images. The discussion shows that this phenomenon increases public involvement visually and emotionally, but reduces attention to ideas, programs, and policy substance. The conclusion of this study is that political personalization has a significant impact on shaping affective and impressive voter behavior, which in the long term can weaken the deliberative democracy process if not balanced by increasing public political literacy.

Abstract

Character is the values that a person has that are formed through interaction with his or her environment. These interactions shape a person's attitudes and behaviors, which ultimately shape his personality. This research focuses on the learning mechanism of social care character, what factors affect the character of social care in students, and its effects. Data analysis involves subtracting, presenting, and drawing conclusions from data. The purpose of this study is to describe the formation of social care character in elementary school students. This study uses Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine in depth various journal articles related to efforts to build social care characters through learning in elementary schools. The data of this study are articles from 22 journals collected from "Google Scholar" with the keywords "character building", "Social Care", "elementary school". Furthermore, the data is analyzed in depth to draw a conclusion. Based on the results of the study, it shows that learning strategies that are integrated with moral and social values are carried out through exemplary strategies to foster the character of social care in elementary school students. This approach must be carried out in a sustainable manner and involve various parties in the educational environment.

Abstract

This study explores the existential experiences of university students within the context of higher education, particularly how they perceive their own existence amid academic and social pressures. The aim of this research is to describe the existential realities faced by students through a descriptive qualitative approach, using reflective questionnaires and literature review. Data were collected from 38 student respondents from various universities in Indonesia. The findings reveal that most students experience identity crises, uncertainty about their life direction, and pressure from academic and family expectations. However, they also show awareness of their freedom to make decisions and a sense of responsibility for their life choices. The discussion connects the findings to existentialist thinkers such as Kierkegaard, Sartre, and Heidegger. The study examines four main aspects: crisis of meaning and personal struggle, freedom and life choices, existential reflection amid social-academic pressure, and freedom of thought along with personal responsibility. This study concludes that students are in the midst of an important existential process, where education should serve not only as a space for academic achievement, but also as a reflective journey to build authentic meaning and self-understanding. Therefore, a more humanistic and reflective educational approach is necessary to support students in discovering their true selves.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the use of flashcard media can help improve basic literacy and numeracy skills in mildly mentally retarded students at SLB X Kudus. Mentally retarded students generally have difficulty in understanding letters and numbers due to cognitive limitations, memory, and concentration, so they need a concrete and enjoyable learning approach. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on one student in class VIII-C1 with the initials DK. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during eight learning meetings. The results showed that before the use of flashcards, DK was not yet able to recognize vowels, distinguish consonants, mention numbers 1–10, and match numbers with the number of objects. After the flashcards were consistently applied, DK showed an increase in learning interest, focus, and the ability to recognize and mention letters and numbers in a guided manner. The discussion confirms that flashcard media which is visual, interesting, and interactive is suitable for the learning style of mentally retarded children who find it easier to understand concrete information. In conclusion, flashcards have proven effective in supporting the development of basic literacy and numeracy in mildly mentally retarded students, and can be a relevant visual learning strategy in the context of inclusive education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of piano musical instrument media in increasing students' awareness of local cultural values through regional songs, especially the song "Gundul-Gundul Pacul" in grade IV MI Khoiriyah Kayen Pati. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that the use of the piano not only improves students' musical skills, but also fosters understanding of the cultural meaning contained in traditional songs. Students showed high enthusiasm in the learning process, as well as improved piano playing skills and understanding of values such as simplicity, responsibility, and leadership. These findings indicate that the media of piano musical instruments is an effective means of learning musical arts based on local culture as well as in supporting character education in elementary schools.
