Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat kepekaan Pasteurella multocida yang berasal dari sapi di Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) Meulaboh, Aceh  Barat terhadap beberapa antibiotik. Penelitian ini mengunakan 7 sampel berupa swab kerongkongan sapi yang kemudian diidentifikasi dan diperoleh 3 sampel yang teridentifikasi Pasteurella multocida,. Selanjutnya dilakukan uji kepekaan antibiotik. Dalam uji kepekaan, antibiotik yang digunakan adalah vancomisin, klindamisin, streptomisin, tetrasiklin, kloramfenikol, kanamisin, dan gentamisin. Diameter zona hambat yang terbentuk kemudian diukur dengan satuan millimeter. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa Pasteurella multocida tidak peka terhadap vancosin, klindamisin, streptomisin, tetrasiklin, dan gentamicin kecuali kloramfenikol yang masuk dalam katagori intermediate

Abstract

A wound is a damage to the integrity of the epithelium of the skin. There are three phases of wound healing process, the first phase is inflammatory phase, the second phase is fibroplasia phase, and the third is maturation phase. Inflammation that occurs during the wound healing process should be limited because it would cause the wound to undergo an abnormal healing process and pathological inflammation if it persists. The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) sap cream on total differential leucocytes in inflammatory phase of wound healing on mice skin. The method used was literature study using qualitatSive methods. Data used in this study refers to the result of studies which have been conducted and published in national and international online journal. Result of data analysis showed that Jatropha sap cream was effectively limiting and  inhibiting the leucocytes accumulation in inflammatory area and stimulated new blood vessels formation (angiogenesis) in inflammatory phase of wound healing in mice skin. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that the Jatropha sap cream could reduce the number of differential leucocytes in inflammatory phase of wound healing on mice skin.

Abstract

This research aim was to determine the level of bacterial contamination of Salmonella sp on quail egg. The samples used in this research was 24 shell of quail eggs obtained from eight stores in traditional markets in Ulee Kareung Banda Aceh. The shell was crushed with a mortar and then cultured on SCB media (selenite cysteine broth). Isolation and identification was conducted by using SSA media culture, Gram staining, and biochemical tests. The results of this research showed that the shell of quail eggs contained Salmonella sp. Therefore it can be concluded that the quail eggs sold in Ulee Kareung traditional market were contaminated by Salmonella sp.

Abstract

This study was aimed at obtaining basic information about bioecology of Haemonchus contortus, related to larval development and anatomical description of infective larvae (L3). In this study, the ova of Haemonchus contortus were harvested out of the intestines of goats, those were slaughtered in municipal slaughterhouse in Kampung Jawa Banda Aceh. The ova of Haemonchus contortus were then cultured using vermiculite as media, and observed daily until the larvae reached 3rd stage larvae. The result revealed that the larvae need 7 days to reach from eggs into infective larvae. Larvae obtained has uniform morphology, with a body diameter of 22 μm, tail length up to 55 μm hyaline, esophagus posterior to the tail of 592 μm, length of esophagus anterior to posterior esophagus 145 μm, and a total body length of larvae 737 μm.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun pegagan terhadap konsentrasi testosteron pada tikus putih jantan.  Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola one way analysis of varian (ANOVA). Tikus yang digunakan adalah tikus jantan berumur 3-3,5 bulan dengan berat badan 150-250 g sebanyak 12 ekor. Tikus-tikus tersebut dikelompokkan menjadi empat kelompok perlakuan dengan masing-masing tiga ulangan. Kelompok pertama yang merupakan kelompok kontrol (K0) diberikan pakan komersil (T794P, Pokphand), kelompok K1, K2, dan K3 diberi pakan dan ekstrak daun pegagan dengan dosis bertingkat yaitu 125, 250, dan 500 mg/kg bobot badan selama 30 hari. Pada akhir perlakuan, diambil darah tikus sebanyak 1-2 ml pada vena orbitalis lalu disentrifus sehingga diperoleh plasma darah. Konsentrasi testosteron dalam plasma darah diperiksa dengan menggunakan metode enzim-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Data dianalisis dengan ANOVA. Rataan konsentrasi testosteron pada K0; K1; K2; dan K3 masing-masing 4,66±1,93; 4,28±3,70; 4,01±4,93; dan 3,71±0,83.Dari hasil penelitian disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun pegagan tidak berpengaruh terhadap konsentrasi testosteron (P0,05).

Abstract

Complex respiratory disease in the calf (enzootic calves pneumonia) is a complex respiratory disease (bovine respiratory disease complex/BRDC) caused by co-infection with viral, bacterial or fungal pathogens. Granulomatous pneumonia is one of the dominant lesions in BRDC that characterizes the infection of Mycoplasma bovis, a bacterium that is very strong against phagocytosis of immun cells. This study aims to determine the presence of risk factors associated with the incidence of granulomatous pneumonia. This study used secondary data from Laboratory of Pathology in Balai Veteriner Lampung, Sample collection in 2015-2017 period from one of the breeding farm in Lampung.  Data is processed by calculating frequency, tables and logistic regression in Epi-info tools.  The frequency of granulomatous pneumonia at the age of pre weaning and weaning was 63.06% and 36.94%, breed Wagyu and Brahman cross (76.12% and 23.88%), as well as males and females (61.01% and 38.99%). The results of measurements with Epi-info show that the age factor (Odds ratio = 2.16, 95% CI = 1.51-3.09) and breeds (Odds ratio = 1.52, 95% CI = 1.003-2.31) were associated with the incidence of granulomatous pneumonia. Based on the results of research that Wagyu calf and weaning age are more at risk of granulomatous pneumonia.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the presence of borax in beef meatballs in Pidie Jaya. This study used 20 samples of beef meatballs which were randomly selected from 4 districts in Pidie Jaya: District Meureudu, Meurah Dua, Bandar Dua, and Trienggadeng. Samples were collected from 5 sampling sites in each district in the afternoon at 17:00 to 19:00 pm. Borax examination was carried out using borax kit test. Data were analyzed descriptively. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh propofol terhadap frekuensi denyut jantung dan pernafasan tikus putih penderita diabetes melitus (DM) yang diinduksi dengan aloksan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 8 ekor tikus betina umur 3-4 bulan dengan berat badan ±150-200 g yang secara klinis dinyatakan sehat. Secara acak seluruh tikus putih dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok perlakuan, masing-masing kelompok terdiri atas 4 ekor tikus putih. Kelompok I(KI) sebagai kontrol dan  kelompok II (KII) sebagai tikus DM yang diinduksi dengan aloksan 150 mg/kg bobot badan. Sepuluh hari kemudian dilakukan pemeriksaan gula darah puasa pada semua tikus, selanjutnya dianestesi dengan propofol dan dihitung frekuensi denyut jantung dan pernafasannya. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan analisis varian pola split-plot dengan program SPSS 18. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa frekuensi denyut jantung pada KI dan KII menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P0,05) yaitu KI (383,13±44,72) dan KII (434,25±57,47), sedangkan pada waktu pengamatan antara kedua kelompok tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P0,05). Frekuensi pernapasan pada KI dan KII tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata (P0,05) yaitu dengan rata-rata KI (113,25+25,49) dan KII (119,00+28,83), namun perbedaan yang nyata terlihat pada periode waktu pengamatannya (P0,05). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa propofol dapat diberikan pada pasien penderita DM

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify the protein value of stray cats and domestic pet cats in Surabaya. In this study blood samples were collected from 28 stray cats and 28 domestic pet cats. Total protein value was determined by Pacar Laboratory Surabaya. The result showed that 11 samples of stray cats (39%) had abnormal protein value, where 7 samples had low protein level (4,5-4,7g/dL) and 4 samples had high protein level (9,1-10,1 g/dL). Total protein value from domestic pet cats showed that 7 samples (25%) were abnormal in which 4 samples had low protein level (5,3-5,8 g/dL) and 3 samples had high protein level (8,9-9,4 g/dL). The data was analysed using independent sample t-test with SPSS, and showed that the data was not significantly different between stray cats and domestic pet cats. It can be concluded that both stray cats and domestic pet cats had risk of low and high total protein value as indicators of any disease.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of giving Sipatah-patah extract toward the histopathological and femur bone growth of white rat that was ovariectomized. The experimental animals that were used were 12 white rats divided into 4 treatment group with 3 repetitions. K0 was the ovariectomized rat without giving Sipatah-patah extract (ESP); K1, K2 and K3 were ovariectomized rats which were given Sipatah-patah extract with multilevel doses of 500 mg/kg BW, 700 mg/kg BW and 900 mg/kg BW for 30 days. On the 31st day, rats were euthanized using chloroform and os femur that was taken to being made into histological preparation.  There was the decrease in the bones density of the K0 group which is characterized by thinning of trabecular structure, there were lots of osteoclast cells on the edge of the trabecular and lower density of active osteoblasts and passive osteoblasts. The rat of group K1 and K2 showed an improvement on the trabecular structure and lower osteoclast than group K0. The rat of group K3 had a visible improvement of the most congested trabecular structures, cohesive with the most density cell of active osteoblasts than the other groups. The result of this research concluded that the giving of Sipatah-patah extract doses 900 mg/kg BW showed a higher density of trabecular and active osteoblasts than the control group, K1 and K2 on the white rat bones that were ovariectomized.
