Abstract

Stunting during adolescence will affect psychomotor development, fine motor skills and neurosensory integration, the level of intelligence and the lack of competitiveness that children have in the fields of development and the economy. Nutrition in adolescents determines the optimization of learning, maturation of thought patterns and optimization of the work of organ systems. A teenager's diet will determine the amount of nutrients they obtain for their growth and development. "Isi Piringku" explains what is needed in a portion of food that can meet nutritional needs, in one portion of food there must be half the plate filled with vegetables and fruit, the other half filled with a source of protein (both vegetable and animal), in the right proportions. more than carbohydrates. Nutrition education regarding "Isi Piringku" for teenagers is one of the efforts to prevent stunting by implementing a healthy diet and meeting daily nutritional needs. At Al Falah Islamic High School, Jambi City, priority problems are still found, namely that the majority of teenagers still do not know about the terms "Isi Piringku" and the Message of Balanced Nutrition. There are still teenagers who adopt unhealthy eating patterns amidst busy school activities so that their nutritional needs are not met. The aim of this community service activity is to provide "Isi Piringku" Nutrition Education to Teenagers in Efforts to Prevent Stunting. The series of activities will start from March 2023 to September 2023 at Al Falah Islamic High School, Jambi City. Participants who attended were estimated at 40 people. The material was presented using power point for ± 90 minutes including a question and answer session with the participants. Before and after education, a pretest and posttest are given which are carried out by activity participants. The results obtained were a change in the average pretest and posttest knowledge, namely 7 (78 to 85). This activity has improved participants’ knowledge about healthy eating patterns as an effort to prevent stunting. It is hoped that similar education can be carried out sustainably in the future so that adolescents become increasingly able to adopt balanced nutrition practices in their daily lives

Abstract

The MMR target in 2024 is 183 per 100,000 live births. This figure is still very far from the current condition of 305 per 100,000 live births. Likewise, the estimated prevalence of stunting in toddlers in 2024 with a target of 14% is still far from the current condition of 24.4%. In order to accelerate the reduction of MMR and the prevalence of stunting in toddlers, one of the efforts made is through increasing the quality of maternal health services (antenatal care) to 6 times. Maternal health services 6 times have only reached 2,583,073 pregnant women out of the target of 4,897,988 pregnant women, and the number of pregnant women who received Hb examination services is lower, namely 1,474,723 mothers, those examined by doctors at the 1st visit (K1) were 771,936 mothers, and those examined by doctors at the 5th visit (K5) were 543,510 mothers. The Bumil Setia Movement refers to the Healthy Pregnant Women Movement program from the Indonesian Ministry of Health which seeks to reduce stunting in Indonesia starting from before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after birth. The Bumil Setia activity aims to increase awareness and compliance of pregnant women in undergoing prenatal checkups, maintaining health during pregnancy, and improving understanding of managing food/diet during pregnancy. This activity is carried out by providing information and education both in groups and individually by conducting home visits to pregnant women in Sembubuk Village. There has been an increase in maternal compliance in checking their pregnancy from previously only 48.2% to 76.5%. Most pregnant women have regularly attended prenatal classes for 4 times (82.4%). 58.8% of pregnant women who consume iron supplements tablets > 90 tablets. Most pregnant women with Hb levels > 11gr% are 12 pregnant women (70.6%).

Abstract

A social welfare institution functions as a substitute for parents or guardians by fulfilling the physical, mental, and social needs of the children under its care, while also promoting activities that foster economic independence. A community service initiative, implemented through a series of workshops on the production of Healthy Squeezable Yogurt, was designed to strengthen partnerships that support both the health and economic sustainability of the institution. The program was conducted over a one-year period, with intensive mentoring provided for three months from July to September 2024 targeting caregivers and 55 residents of the Sunan Ampel Orphanage in Malang City. The mentoring sessions covered several key areas, including production, consumption, packaging, and marketing. After three months of implementation, 80% of the students were reported to consume yogurt regularly, while 91% experienced no health-related problems. Furthermore, the students demonstrated the ability to produce yogurt independently and accurately. It is recommended that the product packaging be further enhanced to increase its visual appeal, that marketing efforts be expanded through social media platforms, and that regular cooking shifts be established to promote the long-term business sustainability.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem affecting child growth and remains a challenge in East Jakarta, particularly in Pondok Kopi and Klender. This program aimed to improve the nutritional status of stunted children through family-based nutrition education and assistance. Activities were conducted from September to November 2023 in the Duren Sawit Public Health Center area. Interventions included nutrition education, monitoring of weight and height, dietary intake recording, and home environment observation. Results showed improved maternal knowledge about food variety and nutritional status improvements in some children. Approximately 20–25% showed progress in weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-height indicators. Despite fluctuations, the interventions had a positive impact on child growth. Environmental factors also influenced nutrition, so sanitation education was provided. The program demonstrated that family-based education and assistance can help reduce stunting, though continued and personalized interventions are still needed.

Abstract

Baby massage is one form of early stimulation that can improve the overall health and well-being of the baby, both from the physical, emotional, and motor development aspects. However, the knowledge and skills of the mother in doing baby massage are still limited, especially in urban communities such as Paal Lima Village, Jambi City. This devotional activity aims to empower mothers through community-based education on appropriate and safe infant massage techniques. Methods of implementation include counseling, direct demonstrations, and interactive training focused on the active participation of the participants’ mothers. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in the mother's knowledge and skills regarding baby massage, as well as increased confidence in caring for the baby. This activity shows that community-based education can be an effective strategy in increasing the capacity of parents to support optimal infant growth. Empowerment of the mother through simple interventions such as infant massage training contributes directly to the improvement of early childhood well-being at the community level.

Abstract

Nutritional problems in pregnant women, nursing mothers, and toddlers are still a major challenge in efforts to improve the degree of public health in Indonesia. One approach used to overcome this problem is through Provision of Additional Food (PMT) that is directed and based on local nutritional needs. This research or program aims to review the implementation of PMT as a form of nutritional intervention aimed at improving nutritional status and public awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition for mothers and children. This activity employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. This design was chosen to determine the effect of Supplementary Feeding (PMT) and nutrition education on improving mothers’ knowledge and changes in the nutritional status of toddlers. The results showed a significant increase in mothers’ nutritional knowledge by an average of 32.75%, as well as an improvement in the nutritional status of toddlers, with the proportion of undernourished children decreasing from 60% to 20%. In addition, 85% of mothers reported being able to prepare nutritious supplementary foods using local ingredients after the program. The success of this activity was supported by the involvement of posyandu cadres, the selection of nutritious local food ingredients, and active community participation. In conclusion, PMT can be an effective nutritional intervention strategy in lowering the risk of malnutrition and improving the quality of maternal and child health, especially when coupled with extension and community-based approaches

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of long-term disability, requiring continuous rehabilitative interventions. This community service program aimed to provide education and training on fan therapy as a non-pharmacological approach to help reduce spasticity and improve coordination in stroke survivors. The activity was conducted at the Amaranee Foundation in Bali, involving stroke survivors as participants. Initial assessments showed that the majority of participants had high blood pressure (64%) and normal blood glucose levels (71%). Before the educational session, most participants had a low level of knowledge (89.2%), but after the fan therapy education and practical demonstration, there was a significant improvement, with 64.2% reaching a moderate level and 35.8% achieving a high level of knowledge. Fan therapy was chosen for its ease of implementation, absence of side effects, and potential for independent application. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the program and were able to practice basic fan therapy techniques to reduce muscle stiffness and enhance motor coordination. This program contributed positively to community-based rehabilitation efforts, particularly for stroke survivors in need of simple yet effective approaches. Fan therapy education is considered relevant as a sustainable recovery intervention within community settings.

Abstract

Reproductive healthy is a state of health related to problems with the organs of reproduction, which begins in adolescence, marked by the onset of menstruation in girls or wet dreams in boys. Sex education for adolescents provides knowledge about sexual aspects and develops constructive attitudes for adolescents in dealing with sexual problems that occur early. Taboo views surrounding information about reproductive healthy within families result in the ineffective dissemination of such information. Therefore, comprehensive and targeted reproductive health education interventions are needed for adolescents to help them understand bodily changes, reproductive roles, as well as risks and prevention methods. The educational session was conducted on Friday, October 4, 2024. Participants in the educational activity were all students in grades 5 and 6 at SDK Untung Suropati 2 Sidoarjo. The material was presented in the form of a PowerPoint presentation designed to be as engaging as possible, making it easier for participants to understand the content. The evaluation results showed that 97% of participants were able to understand physical changes during puberty, the risks of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), how to maintain reproductive organ hygiene and the risks of infection, some incorrect information about sexuality, hormonal changes and emotional development during puberty, and the importance of reproductive organ hygiene.
