Abstract

As the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end, education has returned to normal with in-person learning. The good practices in online learning conducted during the pandemic can be maintained to support practical activities, for example, using a virtual laboratory. The limitations of laboratory facilities and the skills of educators and laboratory staff in developing practical materials have made Biology practicals minimal and monotonous. Based on discussions with partners, there is a main problem that needs to be addressed through this program, which is the limited laboratory facilities in terms of tools and materials, resulting in minimal implementation of Biology practical activities in schools. The objective of this community service is to enhance the knowledge, skills, and empowerment of Biology teachers at Muhammadiyah high schools in Yogyakarta City in conducting practicals using virtual labs. This community service method is carried out by training on Biology practical learning online using virtual labs. This program is conducted in several sessions, each lasting 200 minutes, from June to October. Each session consists of a pre-test, material delivery, Q&A discussions, and a post-test. It can be concluded that the community service activities ran smoothly and provided benefits in the form of increased knowledge and skills of participants in Biology practical learning using virtual labs.

Abstract

Protection of children and their rights is the domain of all groups, including parents, students, educators, regional governments, central government and other parties. The role of the State is also urgently needed to formulate regulations that regulate the protection of children's rights from various negative actions that make children victims and protect children as perpetrators of crimes. One of the regulations currently in effect is Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. This law must be interpreted as a guideline for all parties so as not to violate children's rights. However, children must also know and be aware of their rights and the protection of these rights. Massive education must be carried out throughout society, including schools or Islamic boarding schools. This community service activity aims to determine the level of understanding of students at Darul Quran Science High School Colomadu Karanganyar regarding Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection before community service activities are carried out and how students understand it after the child rights education program in Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection. This community service activity uses an interactive method, where the resource persons provide socialization and understanding of the contents of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection to students, and the resource persons provide opportunities for students to ask questions. The resource person then asked questions related to the material that had been presented to the students and the students answered them. The results of the activity show that students do not know Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection and its material. However, after the resource person explained the various rights of children in law, protection for children in the event that children become victims and perpetrators of crimes, state instruments that provide protection for children and so on, the students understood the material presented by the resource person. This can be seen from students' understanding of the questions asked by the resource person regarding the material that has been presented previously.

Abstract

The presto milkfish business activities in Tambakrejo Village are hampered by floods and tidal waves. Floods and tidal waves result in decreased productivity, disruption of the flow of goods and services, and damage to supporting infrastructure. One of the business units affected by the flood and tidal waves is the Enaxmen UMKM managed by Mrs. Kurnia ( Target Partner). Based on information from partners, the disaster that occurred became a serious threat because it greatly disrupted production activities, even at certain times it could not produce because there was no supply of raw materials. The period of 2020-2021 when Covid-19 occurred was a major blow to partners because of the decrease in turnover and production by more than 50% . The problem , based on the conditions above, is that partners are very vulnerable to shocks (disasters) that occur, especially since partners also do not have standard procedures in dealing with these problems . Another problem is that partner marketing is still limited in scope, on the other hand, partners also do not have the capacity to promote products, so that it indirectly has an impact on low product branding. The capacity of Tambakrejo Village MSME actors in managing their business through the implementation of the Business Continuity Plan has increased well . This can be seen from the increasing understanding of MSME actors in planning business continuity amidst the potential for natural disasters . This needs to be done considering that the Tambakrejo Village area is an area that is very prone to flooding, tidal flooding, and fires . MSME actors have also understood online marketing to increase the capacity of the products produced.

Abstract

The Omah Sawah community focuses on environment-based education for children aged 7-13 years. One of the activities is a weekly school held at the Omah Sawah Pavilion every weekend. Activities include environmental observation, flora-fauna identification, yoga, natural batik dyeing introduction, and writing. The limited skills of facilitators, consisting of teenage alumni of Omah Sawah, in innovating learning, and the lack of supporting facilities at Omah Sawah pose challenges. One alternative to enhance learning innovation and instructor skills is by introducing and studying Photovoice. This community service began with preparation, including permission requests and field surveys, followed by curriculum development training using the Photovoice method through lectures and practice. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test methods. The results showed an increase in participants' knowledge of the Photovoice method and its use in environmental education.
