Abstract

Tanjung Mas Village, North Semarang District is one of the areas in Semarang City that is vulnerable to food insecurity. This food insecurity is caused by the high level of poverty in this region. Poverty has a big impact on food security because poor people are unable to provide sufficient amounts of food, either by producing it themselves or by buying it. This condition encourages the government and society to start trying to fulfill their food needs independently through farming. However, these efforts are hampered by limited agricultural land availability. The aim of the community service program is to provide knowledge, skills and facilitate urban farming facilities to achieve food independence in the Tanjung Mas, Semarang City. The methods used are socialization, counseling, dissemination, training and facilitation of urban farming facilities. The results of this community service program are that the community has an understanding of urban farming, knows the technologies in urban farming, has verticulture skills, and verticulture facilities are available as learning demonstration plots.

Abstract

Psycho-social hazards in children at school include violence against children, peer victimization, discrimination, heavy academic pressure and bullying. The impact of psycho-social hazards on children is very serious, such as children becoming low self-esteem, aggressive, depressed, injured, drug abuse, experiencing personality disorders, tending to want to hurt themselves and even wanting to commit suicide. On the other hand, parenting styles, students' socio-economic conditions and the influence of gadgets and social media can make children more exposed to psycho-social hazards, whether at school, in their families or in the environment where they live. Manifestations of existing problems include students committing physical violence at school, mocking friends, and even threatening their school friends, whether the school knows about it or not. The aim of this activity is to increase children's knowledge regarding potential psycho-social hazards at school and know how to prevent them. Implementation methods include: 1) preparation stage, 2) implementation stage and 3) evaluation stage. This activity has received an ethical certificate no. 313/KEPK/FK/KLE/2024 from the Health Research Ethics Commission, Faculty of Medicine, UNNES. The results of this activity obtained an increase in teacher knowledge by 2 points, namely from an average of 83 to 85, while the average student knowledge increased significantly, namely from 53 to 80 (an increase of 27 points). Therefore, learning innovation through various media, including educational game media, is very necessary to accelerate the increase in children's knowledge which can be obtained more enjoyably.

Abstract

As a metropolitan city with limited land for food production, Semarang faces a challenge in maintaining its food security. This issue is exacerbated by climate change, increasing the risk of crop failure. As a result, Semarang still relies on food supplies from other regions. This situation has encouraged innovation through the concept of urban farming. Urban farming allows communities to optimize vacant land, providing a mitigation strategy against food shortages while creating green open spaces and offering economic value. The urban farming activities are supported by SAKA Energi Muriah Limited and Semarang State University, which conduct community empowerment, including: (1) socialization, (2) formation of farmer groups, (3) training for farmer groups, (4) urban farming system training, (5) urban farming implementation, (6) provision of facilities and technology, and (7) monitoring and evaluation. The results show that urban farming successfully provides an alternative food source, especially during floods, and increases community awareness of food security and the environment. Training in cultivation techniques, organizational development, and provision of facilities and infrastructure have been key factors in the program's success. The urban farming model applied includes vertical pipes, hanging pots, and polybags. The plants to be cultivated include Brazilian spinach, celery, strawberries, medicinal plants, and ornamental plants. Active community involvement through institution-building, training, and implementation has strengthened residents' ability to utilize limited urban land while contributing to the provision of green open spaces.

Tambakrejo Village faces complex environmental issues, such as waste accumulation and flooding. This is exacerbated by the low awareness among the community regarding waste management and environmental preservation. To address these challenges, the Environmental Education Movement in Schools was initiated as an implementation of school-based environmental education. The program aims to encourage and develop environmentally conscious and culturally aware schools that are capable of participating in and implementing efforts to preserve the environment within the framework of sustainable development. The PBLHS (Environmental Education Movement) at SMP Al-Fattah, Tambakrejo Village, Semarang City, is supported by Saka Energi Muriah Limited and Semarang State University, and includes the following activities: (1) socialization, (2) preparation of the Learning Program Plan (RPP), (3) training of Adiwiyata cadres, (4) integration of PBLHS into the curriculum, (5) implementation of PBLHS, (6) provision of facilities and infrastructure, and (7) monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activities show an increase in students' awareness of waste and energy management, as well as the development of environmentally friendly habits at the school through intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. The development of facilities such as waste sorting stations, environmental posters, and the formation of Adiwiyata cadres strengthens the role of students as agents of change within the school and the surrounding community. Abstract

Milkfish processing is a superior product and a typical souvenir from Semarang City that requires serious attention because it has a significant impact on regional economic growth. Tambakrejo Village is a thematic village of Semarang City (Milkfish Processing Village) with the formation of the Putri Laut Processing and Marketing Group (Poklahsar) since 2017 with 21 members. Business actors in Poklahsar still face problems in production and marketing aspects. Partners in this PDTI are Poklahsar Putri Laut and Tambakrejo Village. In terms of production, the production capacity of presto milkfish is limited to only ± 50 kg / day. In addition, processed milkfish has a short shelf life so that technology needs to be applied. The reach of marketing aspects, product promotion is still lacking , In this community service activity, Retort pan facilities were provided, is one of the thermal food preservation techniques, which has many advantages, namely a shelf life of more than six months. The pressure cooker is a hybrid model specifically designed to make soft-boned milkfish effectively and efficiently. This presto milkfish cooker is a combination of innovations about soft-boned milkfish cookers with temperature and time control . The tool still uses LPG fuel and a soft-boned milkfish cooker with an electric heater.

Abstract

Coffee serves as a vital agricultural product in Madiun Regency, particularly flourishing on the slopes of Mount Wilis in the Kare District. Presently, approximately 55 hectares of land in this region are dedicated to coffee cultivation, primarily managed by a local farmer group. The predominant variety cultivated in Kare is high-quality robusta, which thrives at an elevation of 700 meters above sea level, making it particularly well-suited for this type of coffee. Known locally as Kare coffee or Wilis coffee, this product is distinctive due to its unique flavor profile, which sets it apart from other Indonesian coffees, as it is exclusively sourced from the slopes of Mount Wilis. All coffee sold under this label is cultivated and processed by the Mugi Lestari farmer group, which faces significant competition in the local and national coffee markets, prompting them to seek broader marketing opportunities. However, the increasing demand for coffee necessitates that farmers in Kare Village enhance their skills in production management to ensure that their coffee not only improves their livelihoods but also empowers them economically. The challenges encountered by these farmers include a lack of understanding regarding the significance of effective production management for enhancing product competitiveness and the absence of training or support to bolster their human resource capabilities. Additionally, the low wages and income levels of coffee farmers in Kare Village hinder their ability to address these issues independently, underscoring the need for targeted assistance and training in coffee production management. In response to these challenges, the Community Service Team proposes a comprehensive solution that includes socialization, counseling, and support focused on the effective management of Kare Coffee production
