Abstract

Enhancing Students' Problem-Solving Abilities: The Role of Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, and Learning Motivation. Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of Project-Based Learning (PjBL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), and learning motivation on students' problem-solving abilities at the secondary education level. Methods: This study uses a quantitative approach with SmartPLS 4 data analysis techniques to test the relationship between the variables involved. The research sample consisted of students at the secondary education level who were divided into three experimental groups. Each group received project-based learning (PjBL), problem-based learning (PBL) interventions, as well as the influence of learning motivation as a factor influencing students' problem-solving abilities. Findings: The results of the study indicate that both PjBL and PBL have a positive and significant effect on students' problem-solving abilities. In addition, learning motivation has also been shown to have an important role in strengthening the development of students' problem- solving abilities. These findings indicate that project-based and problem-based learning can improve students' skills in solving complex problems. Conclusion: The findings of this study provide evidence that Project-Based Learning and Problem-Based Learning methods can be effective alternatives to improve students' problem-solving abilities. Learning motivation also plays a crucial role in supporting the learning process. Therefore, it is important for teachers to create a learning environment that can motivate students to be more active and participate. By combining these two methods, students are expected to develop critical and creative thinking skills, which are very much needed in facing challenges in the real world. Further research is needed to explore other factors that may affect students' problem-solving abilities, such as social and emotional factors. Keywords: PjBL, PBL, problem-solving ability, learning motivation.

Abstract

Ethnoconstructivism E-module: Design, Implementation, and Contextualization of Local Wisdom-Based Procedural Text Learning in Elementary Schools. Objectives: Limited learning resources, low learning outcomes, and skills in writing procedural texts are among the problems at SDN 04 Randublatung. This research aims to develop, test the feasibility, and evaluate the effectiveness of an ethnoconstructivism-based e-module using Flip PDF Professional, integrated with the local wisdom of Blora, in improving learning outcomes, procedural text writing skills, and their contextualization in digital era learning. Method: This research uses the research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development design. Data collection was conducted using test (pretest and a posttest) and non-test techniques (observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation). Finding: The results of this study indicate that the e-modules developed are very feasible to use with a percentage of 92,6% (material experts) and 92% (media experts). The reliability of the multiple-choice questions is 0.87 and the reliability of the essay questions is 0.756, both are declared reliable. The normality test showed a sig > 0,05, indicating normal data distribution. The t-test result showed sig. 0,000 confirms an increase in learning outcome after using e-module. The effectiveness showed with n-Gain of  61,25% (learning outcomes) and 59.07% (writing skills), both in the moderately effective category. Local wisdom, the traditional coconut milk coffee of Blora, is used as a context to explain procedural text material, making it easier for students to relate to new knowledge. Conclusion: With the increase in the average, the learning material in the form of a professional flip PDF-based ethnoconstructivism e-module integrated with local Blora wisdom on procedural text material is effectively used in the fourth grade of elementary school. Keywords: e-module, Ethnokonstructivism, local wisdom, text procedures.

Abstract

The Effects of I-bLA on Resolving the Issues of the EFL Students’ Writing Skills and Content Originality. Objective: This research aims at testing the effects of Inquiry-based Learning Approach (I-bLA) on Resolving the Issues of the EFL Students’ Writing Skills and Content Originality. Method: The one Group Pre-test and Post-test experimental research design was used to test the effects of I-bLA. Findings: The result of paired sample test explicates that the sig. 2-tailed value is 0.000 designating a significant difference between pre-test and post-test. Furthermore, the I-bLA significantly decreases the similarity index by 80% meaning that the content originality of the students’ essays does not match against the original sources. Conclusion: the use of I-bLA can significantly resolve the issues of the EFL students’ Writing Skills and Content Originality. Keywords: I-bLA, writing skills, content originality DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i2.202106

Abstract

The Role of Advanced Academic Literacy Development in Enhancing Academic Writing and Publishing: A Narrative Inquiry of Indonesian Doctoral Students. Objectives: Academic writing and publishing are crucial elements of doctoral education, yet many Indonesian doctoral students face significant challenges in developing the advanced academic literacy necessary for scholarly publishing. Methods: Employing a narrative inquiry approach, this study explores the lived experiences of five doctoral students from five universities in Indonesia. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews. Findings: Findings reveal that structured academic literacy programs, mentorship, and exposure to scholarly discourse play a crucial role in improving students’ writing and publishing capabilities. However, persistent challenges, including linguistic barriers, institutional constraints, and the pressures of the ‘publish or perish’ culture, hinder their progress. Conclusion: The study underscores the need for higher education institutions to provide comprehensive academic literacy training, sustained mentorship, and collaborative research opportunities to support doctoral students in achieving academic publishing success. These insights contribute to a broader understanding of the interplay between academic literacy and research productivity, with implications for doctoral education policies and scholarly writing development programs. Keywords: academic literacy, academic writing, doctoral education, Indonesian higher education, scholarly publishing.
