Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the narrative writing skills of high school students through the use of the Toontastic 3D application as an interactive learning medium. The targets of the activity are grade X students at SMA Negeri 5 Ambon who have challenges in developing ideas and narrative writing structures. Theoretically, this activity is based on the constructivist learning approach and the theory of multiple intelligences, which emphasizes the importance of active student involvement and the use of media that suits visual and kinesthetic learning styles. Toontastic 3D, as an animation-based digital media, provides opportunities for students to creatively organize and develop storylines while strengthening their narrative cohesion and coherence. The method of activity implementation includes socialization, training on the use of the application, assistance in writing animation-based narratives, and reflection sessions. The evaluation was conducted through questionnaires that were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of the questionnaire analysis from 30 respondents showed that 87% of students felt more motivated in writing after using Toontastic 3D, 83% stated that this media helped them in organizing the story structure (introduction, conflict, climax, and resolution), and 78% claimed to be more confident in expressing their ideas in writing. In addition, students reported that the visual and interactive learning experience made the writing process more enjoyable and meaningful. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the integration of interactive digital media such as Toontastic 3D is an effective approach to support the improvement of narrative writing literacy among secondary school students. This activity also encourages innovation in Indonesian language learning through the use of technology that suits the characteristics of the digital generation.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity is to strengthen the professional competence of Indonesian language teachers at SMAN 5 Ambon in designing contextual learning based on local wisdom. Contextual learning that is integrated with local cultural values is considered to be able to increase the relevance of teaching materials and shape the character of students who love local culture. The target of this activity is Indonesian language teachers at SMAN 5 Ambon who are active in teaching and show commitment to developing innovative learning strategies. The method of activity implementation includes identification of partner needs through an initial survey, training through workshops, focus group discussions (FGDs), and direct assistance in the preparation of learning tools in the form of contextual lesson plans based on Maluku local wisdom. Activities were carried out offline with a participatory, collaborative, and reflective approach. The results of the activities showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding and skills in designing contextual learning. Based on the analysis of evaluation questionnaire data with a descriptive statistical approach, the average competency improvement score was 87.9%, which indicates a very good category. All participants also stated that this activity was very relevant and applicable to be applied in daily learning. In addition, the lesson plans show the integration of local cultural values explicitly and creatively. Based on the analyzed questionnaire results, it can be concluded that training based on contextual approaches and local culture is effective in improving teachers' pedagogical competencies. This competency strengthening also contributes to cultural preservation efforts through education and encourages the realization of a more meaningful and humanistic learning process in Indonesian language classes.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education has encouraged the birth of various learning innovations, one of which is through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). This article aims to describe the implementation of training activities on the application of AI in learning English at the SMA/SMK level as part of the Community Service program. This activity was motivated by the need for teachers to develop learning methods that are more interactive, contextual, and in accordance with the demands of the digital era. The training focused on the utilization of AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Quillbot that support the improvement of students' language skills, especially in the aspects of writing, reading, and speaking. The training method is designed in a participatory manner with a demonstrative approach and hands-on practice, so that participants can concretely understand the application of these technologies in learning. The results of the training evaluation showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding of the functions and benefits of AI in English classes, as well as the high enthusiasm of participants to integrate the technology into their lesson plans. This finding shows that AI training can be a strategic step in supporting the transformation of learning that is adaptive, innovative, and oriented towards improving 21st-century competencies. This activity also makes a positive contribution to strengthening the professional capacity of teachers in facing the challenges and opportunities of education in the digital era.

Abstract

The English for Fun Community Service Program was conducted to enhance the English language skills of students at SD Negeri 4 Halong through an interactive and enjoyable learning approach. The program ran for five days, from Monday to Friday, covering topics such as weather, profession, numbers, and animals. Each session was designed using the learning by playing concept, which combined visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities such as singing, using picture cards, and participating in group games. The implementation consisted of three main stages: preparation, execution, and evaluation. The results showed an improvement in students’ basic vocabulary mastery as well as increased enthusiasm toward learning English. In addition to benefiting the students, the program also provided valuable learning opportunities for university students to gain real teaching experience and foster social empathy. Collaboration among students, teachers, and the school played a key role in the success of the program. Moving forward, similar activities are expected to be further developed with more diverse materials and broader community involvement.

Abstract

Students' need for efficiency in writing scientific papers is increasingly urgent, along with the increasing academic demands and complexity of research in various fields. Amidst busy schedules, students are often faced with the pressure to produce high-quality work in a limited amount of time. This prompts the search for solutions that can help them better manage their time and resources. The use of writing tools, such as reference management software and sophisticated word processing applications, has become increasingly common to improve productivity. In addition, an in-depth understanding of research methodologies and effective writing techniques has also become crucial to meet the set academic standards. Thus, efficiency in scientific writing is not only a practical necessity but also an important part of academic skill development that will support students' future success. This service focuses on developing e-modules for the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in writing scientific papers for students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program. Through the implementation of workshops and the creation of e-modules, it is expected that students will better understand digital literacy as an effort to support academics. This program is designed by combining a systematic approach, starting from coordination with mentors, planning activities, and implementation and evaluation.

Abstract

German is the second foreign language taught in high schools in Maluku. In its introduction, students have difficulty learning German vocabulary and structures. However, teachers always try to ensure that students can understand the material taught well, even though the differences between Indonesian and German make it still difficult to learn a new language. This makes teachers look for creative ways so that the material taught can be absorbed easily by students. For this reason, teachers need to design interactive media that is easy to access and use digital media that is familiar to high school students, who are currently known as Gen Z. This Community Service (PKM) is an assistance for teachers to teach German material by utilizing one of Suno's interactive digital media. In this service, the PKM team taught Uhrzeiten und Aktivitäten Material. Students were asked to compose a simple text related to the material Uhrzeiten und Aktivitäten. The text was then transferred into the Suno application. In the application, they can choose the desired music genre. Students can finally create an interesting and pleasing song by using the simple text they compiled. Through the song, students can remember the themes, vocabulary, and structures they have just learned. Consciously, they can pronounce the song according to German pronunciation. As a result, learning German as a foreign language becomes more meaningful and fun. Overall, this assistance has a positive impact not only on students but also on teachers. Learning becomes more meaningful and fun. Students can easily memorize the vocabulary taught because it is repeated according to the song genre they like. When the teacher practices it in class, she feels helped by the assistance material provided. The learning atmosphere became more fun and meaningful, and the students' German learning outcomes improved.

Abstract

The need for optimal use of reading rooms in academic environments requires orderly, systematic management that is oriented towards user needs. In the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program at the Indonesian Literature Program at Pattimura University, the absence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) has resulted in ineffective use of the reading room, characterized by irregularities in borrowing and storing reading materials, as well as underutilization of available facilities. Therefore, this community service activity aims to develop and implement SOPs for the use of reading rooms as a strategic step to improve efficiency, comfort, and regularity in academic activities. The activity process was carried out in several stages, namely identifying user needs through surveys and observations, developing SOPs based on data analysis results, disseminating new rules through print and digital media, and evaluating the effectiveness of their implementation. The results of the implementation show a significant increase in the orderliness of the reading room's use, users' understanding of the rules, and the efficiency of facility management. Thus, the development and implementation of SOPs not only create a more conducive academic environment but also encourage a culture of literacy and shared responsibility in maintaining learning facilities that support the improvement of education quality on campus.

Abstract

The “Ngabubuteach” community service activity was carried out to improve the English language skills of the children at the Al-Madinah Wara Orphanage while also fostering social awareness and concern for the community among students. This program was designed with an interactive learning approach through educational games, conversation simulations, and fun group activities to motivate the children to use English. The activity consisted of four main stages, namely fundraising to support the needs of the activity, preparation of teaching materials, implementation of the learning process, and evaluation to measure learning outcomes. Based on the evaluation results, the children showed an improvement in their ability to understand basic vocabulary, greetings, and simple expressions in English. Meanwhile, the students involved gained valuable experience in teaching practice, teamwork, and strengthening social empathy towards others. The success of this activity was due to the collaboration between student organizations, the support of supervising lecturers, and the cooperation of the orphanage. In the future, this program is expected to develop more varied materials and provide more adequate learning facilities.

Abstract

The “This Community Service activity aims to provide additional information and knowledge about the importance of being an innovative and creative teacher in today's digitalization era for elementary school teachers. This seminar is motivated by the demands of the times, where elementary school students have daily activities involving smartphones in playing games and other activities. In addition to the boredom characteristic of elementary school students, teachers are required to be more creative in developing innovative teaching materials and implementing them in the classroom by utilizing IT to overcome this challenge. The methods used in this training include lectures and interactive discussions. This activity was attended by 8 teachers at State Elementary School 4 Halong, Ambon City. The results of this seminar showed the participants' awareness of the importance of being innovative and creative teachers in developing teaching materials and in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. In addition, the critical questions asked by the participants during the discussion illustrated their better understanding of the seminar topic. This activity concludes that a seminar on becoming a professional teacher through the implementation of digitalization in education is needed for teachers.

Abstract

The Community Service Program at SMA Negeri 63 Central Maluku aims to improve students' German speaking skills through the application of audiovisual digital media. The implementation of this activity is motivated by the results of interviews with German language subject teachers, which show that teachers still have difficulties in implementing effective learning that can encourage students' interest in learning German, especially in improving their speaking skills. In addition, students are also less motivated to learn because the media used are still limited to textbooks and static images. Thus, the target of this training activity is SMA Negeri 63 Maluku Tengah class XI students, totaling 20 people. The methods used in learning by using audiovisual media are lecture, question and answer, group discussion, and dialogue. The results of this activity show that students are more motivated to learn German with the help of video media, where they are very enthusiastic to master the utterances and vocabulary related to the theme of introductions and do pronunciation exercises repeatedly, which leads to an increase in their German speaking skills. The conclusion that can be drawn from this activity is that learning German by using audiovisual digital media can have a positive impact on improving students' speaking skills. through this activity, the PKM team can provide recommendations for German language subject teachers to apply audiovisual digital media in German language learning activities.
