Abstract

This research is motivated by students' difficulties in comprehending the material provided by educators. Among the contributing factors is the educators' lack of innovation in designing instruction. Students struggle to grasp the subject matter due to the instructors' abilities not being fully utilized in the design of teaching methods. This study seeks to demonstrate how the Pomodoro learning method is employed within the framework of official education guidelines for teaching Islamic religion. The research is conducted as a field study utilizing descriptive qualitative research techniques. The locus of the study is the Muhammadiyah Islamic Vocational High School (SMK) 2 Malang. Data collection for this study is carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The method of data analysis consists of data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings of this study depict that the Pomodoro learning technique is a time-management oriented approach, thereby ensuring that the concentration level of the students' learning remains undisturbed. This learning technique requires habitual practice to enable students to regulate their study time effectively.

Abstract

As an educational institution born from the cradle of Islamic civilization, madrasahs have played a role in the advancement of the Muslim community in the past. However, in the midst of this era of globalization, madrasahs face complex challenges. This research aims to describe the development of madrasahs in the dynamics of Islamic education and the strategic steps madrasahs take in facing the era of globalization. This study is a literature review that uses documentation as the method of data collection, while the analysis technique employs inductive analysis. The results of this research indicate that in this era of globalization, madrasahs encounter two main challenges: 1) internal challenges, such as the low quality and competitiveness of madrasah graduates; and 2) external challenges, namely Islamophobia in the global community, especially in the West. To address internal issues, integrated improvements involving all elements of madrasah management need to be pursued. External issues need to be approached with a new marketing model that utilizes contemporary communication patterns to combat negative stigma against madrasahs and simultaneously create a positive trend towards the image of Islamic educational institutions and Islam itself.

Abstract

Moral education plays a crucial role in shaping student characteristics. The lack of creativity in teaching Aqidah Akhlak poses a barrier to effective character development. Therefore, this study analyzed the creativity of teachers in teaching Aqidah Akhlak in public and private senior high schools. This study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. The research participants were six Aqidah Akhlak teachers, 12 students from two public Islamic senior high schools, and four private Islamic senior high schools in Bantul Regency, Indonesia. The results indicate that teacher creativity in teaching Aqidah Akhlak is more prominent in private schools than in public schools. Teachers in priate schools show better performance in developing creative learning strategies, presenting more interesting material, and creating a more interactive learning environment so that students can be actively involved in the learning process, understand religious values, and internalize them in their daily lives. One creative approach that resonates with students is the "confide-in" session during lessons, which boosts their enthusiasm and encourages positive behavior.

Abstract

Amid the threat of radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia, Islamic boarding schools are often viewed as breeding grounds for radical groups. This study examines the multidimensional approach in the curriculum of Pondok Pesantren Darul Ishlah Tulang Bawang, Indonesia, to counter radicalism. A case study design involving in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation was employed for this study. The results of this study indicate the need for the integration of moderate values in the pesantren curriculum and activities. This included the enrichment of materials related to life skills. This study also underlines the importance of professionalism in the development of pesantren management through public involvement and technology integration. In addition, regulatory strengthening, government supervision, and cooperation between pesantrens and related institutions are other substantial findings of the study. This multidimensional approach is relevant to prevent pesantrens from becoming hotbeds of radicalism. This encourages the generation of peace agents. A detailed elaboration of efforts to prevent radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia through the pesantren curriculum and management is provided in the study.

Abstract

The current study intends to analyze the management of the Tahfidz program in shaping students' character. The non-mulazamah program became the subject of the study. A qualitative approach using a case study method was employed in this study. Data collection techniques included interviews, observation, and documentation. Data were generated from the analysis process, comprising data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the management of the Tahfidz program was successful in shaping students’ characters based on four indicators. First, in the planning stage, the madrasah conducted a need analysis and prepared stakeholders to ensure proficiency in reading the Qur'an, creating an ideal learning environment. Second, in organizing the Tahfidz program, the madrasah had a clear purpose, well-defined job responsibilities, and adequate facilities to support the program. Third, the Madrasah leaders implemented a situational leadership style during the program's execution. Finally, in the control phase, the management team ensured that the program produced quality outcomes, with many students surpassing the expected targets. The study indicates that the Tahfidz program nurtures students’ characteristics such as discipline, responsibility, independence, and compliance.

Abstract

This current research aims to analyse the influence of religious figures on people's interest in choosing Islamic education in the Indonesian context. This study involved 400 respondents from various regions. From the data collected through the survey method, results show that people's perceptions of religious figures significantly influence their interest in choosing an Islamic educational institution. As many as 75% of respondents considered religious figures before deciding to send their child to an Islamic school. This research also revealed that trust in religious figures with a good reputation can increase people's satisfaction with Islamic education. In addition, there is tension between tradition and modernity in Islamic education, which indicates the need to modernize the curriculum to remain relevant to global developments. It is hoped that these findings can be a guide for policymakers in formulating strategies to increase the interest and quality of Islamic education in Indonesia.
