Abstract

Breast self-examination (BSE) is learning to see and examine your own breasts every month (Rasjidi, 2021). The main goal of BSE is to find breast cancer at an early stage so that treatment can be better. Lack of understanding or lack of information about breast cancer and steps to prevent early detection causes many women to be less or less interested in having this examination. Breast cancer is the cancer with the second highest prevalence after cervical cancer in Central Java in 2021, namely cervical cancer at 1.2% or the equivalent of 19,734 people and breast cancer at 0.7% or the equivalent of 11,511 people. Based on the preliminary study conducted, the results showed that of the 10 questions about BSE at SMA 5 Tegal, 6 out of 10 respondents answered that they did not know or had a low understanding of BSE, while the other 4 respondents indicated sufficient understanding about BSE. The aim of this study was to evaluate SMA 5 Tegal students' understanding of the importance of breast self-examination (BSE) in early detection of breast cancer. The research method that will be used in this research is a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design. The population of this research was 117 female students of SMA 5 Tegal class XI (adolescent girls), with sampling using the total sample. The results of this research show that the majority of respondents have a good understanding of BSE, namely 89 respondents (76.1%), where this respondent's understanding is obtained from good knowledge about BSE, knowing the correct BSE examination techniques.

Abstract

Parents' behavior in selecting snacks significantly influences children's snacking habits, which are positively associated with nutritional status. The nutritional status of school-age children is influenced by several factors, including their daily eating habits at home instilled by their parents and peer-snacking behavior in the school environment. This study investigated the relationship between parents' behavior in snack selection and the nutritional status of school-age children at SDN 4 Mojolangu. The research employed an analytical correlational design with 160 respondents comprising 80 parents and 80 students in grades 1-4. Additionally, weight and height measurements were taken for the students. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Sommers'D test. The results indicate a significant relationship between parents' behavior in snack selection and the nutritional status of school-age children. The analysis of the correlation between parental behavior and nutritional status (BMI-for-age) yielded a significance value of p=0.000 (r=1.000), indicating a strong positive correlation. Meanwhile, the correlation between nutritional status (Height-for-age) showed a significance value of p=0.000 (r=0.654), demonstrating a strong positive correlation.

Abstract

Indonesia still has a fairly high stunting prevalence rate of 24.4% which is still above the standard tolerated by WHO, which is below 20%. Meanwhile, in Central Java, the stunting rate reached 20.9% and based on family data, 43.05% of families were at risk of stunting. In the Bangungalih Health Center area, there were 3,437 toddlers and 471 toddlers experiencing stunting. The purpose of this study was to identify the experiences of mothers under five in implementing meal plans for stunting. The research method used was an analytical survey by analyzing the experiences of mothers under five in implementing meal plans on the risk of stunting in the Bangungalih Health Center area. The population is mothers who have toddlers, with the sampling technique that is accidental sampling. The number of respondents was 20 people. Abstract

Scraping therapy, known locally as kerokan, is a traditional treatment still widely practiced in Indonesia to address minor ailments such as colds, muscle aches, and fever. Family perceptions strongly influence the preference for scraping therapy as a primary form of home care. This study aims to explore how families perceive scraping therapy as an alternative to modern medicine. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving participants who had received or administered scraping therapy in the past year, were aged 18 or older, and participated voluntarily. Purposive sampling was used to select participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs), focusing on their knowledge, motivations, and personal experiences. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify key patterns and meanings. The findings revealed that many families consider scraping therapy effective, affordable, and easy to perform. It is viewed as a cultural tradition passed down through generations and a practical solution amid limited access to healthcare facilities. Nevertheless, some concerns were noted, including potential skin irritation and the absence of scientific validation. Despite these issues, cultural beliefs and accessibility make scraping therapy the preferred choice for minor health problems. Healthcare professionals should educate communities while respecting local traditions to ensure safe practices.

Abstract

Inadequate breast milk production for newborns might result in impaired growth and development. Enhancing breast milk production can be achieved by lactation massage, a therapeutic technique including massage movements on the breast area that stimulates lymphatic and blood circulation, increases milk production, and alleviates issues related to blocked milk ducts. The applicability of this scientific findings to health services is limited; therefore, midwifery support is essential in enhancing breast milk production with lactation massage. Midwives can utilize their expertise to perform lactation massage, thereby enhancing breast milk supply and promoting the effectiveness of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to ascertain the correlation between midwives' knowledge and attitudes on the enhancement of breast milk production by lactation massage. The method used was cross-sectional, and the target population consists of midwives attending Harapan Bersama Polytechnic. Utilizing a total sampling technique involving 11 individuals. Data were acquired by surveys and subsequently analyzed using the chi-square method. The study's results yielded a P value of 0.04 (α0.05), indicating a correlation between midwives' knowledge and attitudes on the enhancement of breast milk supply via lactation massage, with an odds ratio of 0.33. Midwives' knowledge and abilities must be improved in order to use lactation massage to boost the supply of breast milk.

Abstract

In comparison to the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the prevalence rate of cake consumption during pregnancy is 35-75% greater in the third trimester globally. WHO also reports that persistent electricity shortages contribute to 40% of maternal mortality in underdeveloped nations. In 2017, malnourished pregnant women have a 60% increased risk of disease, including chronic exhaustion. To preserve the lives of mothers and newborns, the WHO has advised a maximum of 10% to 15% for sectio caesarea (SC) deliveries, although this number has increased globally. Situations surrounding KEK and History of Sc Due to the potential rise in maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, this poses a significant obstetric risk. The goal of this case study is to get a realistic sense of what it will be like to care for Mrs. N as a full-service midwife at the Suradadi Health Center in Tegal Regency in 2022. By using Varney's 7-step midwifery care management and SOAP development data, during pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and babies. The OSOC method, which is an activity to accompany moms starting to be proclaimed pregnant until the postpartum period, was employed in this study as a case study methodology. The study's participants were expectant mothers. Mrs. N is 29 years old, has chronic energy deficiency, and has had Sc for less than two years. The outcomes during pregnancy were experiencing CED with an upper arm circumference of 22 cm and a history of Sc less than 2 years. Data collection was done from 17 October to 30 November 2022 utilizing interviews, observation, and recording.
