Abstract

Explanation of the chart currently still uses generators as an energy source to turn on the lights at night, so it requires relatively high operational costs to buy fuel oil, besides the use of fuel oil has a negative impact on the environment because it can cause environmental damage. Therefore, alternative energy sources are needed to overcome these problems. In this study, it is proposed to make a PLTB with a power of 300 Watt with an IoT system placed in the chart aiming to reduce the operational costs incurred by fishermen to buy generator fuel by utilizing the wind available in nature. The methodology for making this PLTB uses a 300 Watt DC generator with a 3 blade HAWT wind turbine which is controlled using an INA219 sensor, a BH1750, and an anemometer sensor with a monitoring system utilizing IoT-based technology using a website. The test will be carried out by testing the effect of wind speed on the generator output voltage and current, battery charging time, battery usage time on lamp load, and monitoring system using the website. Based on the test results obtained data with a minimum wind speed of 2 m/s the power generated by the generator is 0.378 Watt and the maximum power is achieved when the wind speed is 9 m/s. In this PLTB it takes 12 hours to charge the battery with a capacity of 7.2 AH to full with a charging current of 0.66 A, while for discharging the battery using a 10 Watt DC lamp load it takes 6 hours. The monitoring system at the generator using the website functions properly so that the data obtained from the generator can be monitored in real time and stored in the database.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities are a handful of people with special needs who have the same roles and rights as society in general. However, they will usually find it difficult to carry out daily activities, for example in using a vehicle. Therefore we designed a Car Control System for Wheelchair Users to help people with disabilities, especially for those who experience physical limitations in one of the bodies, namely the legs. The Steering Control System and FESS that we designed use a Brushless DC Motor as the main driver of the steering system using a microcontroller in the form of Arduino and the Brushless DC Motor Controller itself. As well as the existence of a Tilt sensor or tilt sensor which is useful as a signal to Arduino to activate the Flywheel with the aim of having a charging system from the remaining rotation of the Flywheel as energy savings. The method we use is retrieval of RPM data from 1.2V – 3.3V so that we get a stable RPM value.

Abstract

The presence of foreign objects in pepper seeds is one of the things that affect the quality of pepper seeds. Farmers in Bangka sell pepper to pepper collectors. The collectors in this area still inspect the pepper using manual methods without the help of other tools, so there are still foreign objects such as dry leaves or pepper stalks. This method is often inefficient because the precision of each person is different. In this case, we propose to determine the quality of pepper based on the percentage of foreign objects automatically in accordance with the determination of pepper quality standards regulated in the national quality standard (SNI). The authors use YOLOv3 for object detection which is one of the fastest and most accurate object detection methods, outperforming other detection algorithms. However, YOLOv3 requires a heavy computer architecture. Therefore, YOLOv3-tiny, a lighter version of YOLOv3, can be a solution for smaller architectures. This study found that YOLOv3-tiny model has a reasonably high network performance value: precision value of 0.99, recall value above 70%, and F1 score above 80%. While determining the quality of pepper according to the standard quality of pepper (SNI) the value obtained must be below 2%. Then a comparison was made between the detection system and the manual calculation of objects. It was found that in the sample of 26 pepper seeds, the system detected 8.97 seconds faster than manual calculation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a novel "sit and reach test" flexometer device utilizing a linear potentiometer sensor to quantitatively evaluate an individual's body flexibility. The innovation in this research lies in the utilization of electronic means to measure flexibility, replacing conventional manual methods. The device employs a linear potentiometer sensor that translates analog voltage into a digital value (ADC) and subsequently converts the digital data into distance measurements in centimeters (cm). The processed data, representing the distance measurements, is wirelessly transmitted to a personal computer (PC) for automatic capture and analysis. The design considerations prioritize modernity, practicality, effectiveness, and efficiency. The experimental outcomes demonstrate the efficacy of the developed tool. The readings from the linear potentiometer sensor exhibit a high linearity, indicated by an R2 value of 0.9999. The average error percentage is minimal, measuring at 0.17%. Moreover, the device allows for direct wireless transmission of data to a PC immediately after assessing an athlete's flexibility. This study not only introduces a novel electronic approach for assessing body flexibility but also validates its accuracy and efficiency through comprehensive testing and analysis.

Abstract

The ability to hear is a gift given by God to humans. By hearing, a person will be able to speak and communicate, but some of them are born with hearing loss or are known as deaf. Deafness is a condition where the sufferer loses their hearing so that deaf people experience difficulty in communicating with the person they are talking to because of limited hearing. The deaf communicate using sign language when communicating with the person they are talking to. The problem is that not all deaf interlocutors can use sign language to communicate. Hearing limitations cause deaf people to experience difficulties in interacting in society and the world of education because it is difficult for them to adapt to their surrounding environment. So in this research a tool was created that can make it easier for deaf people to communicate with normal people via an LCD display. By utilizing Google Voice as a user voice recording feature connected to the Android application. As a result of the tool that has been created, users can send voice messages via the Google Voice feature in the Android application, the voice messages that have been sent are then converted into text displays on the LCD, and the text that has been sent will be saved in the application history feature.

Abstract

The implementation of a PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller for speed regulation of a DC motor, employing both the Ziegler-Nichols method and a Iterative Methods approach for PID parameter tuning. DC motors are integral to various applications, requiring precise speed control for optimal performance. The Ziegler-Nichols method was utilized to initially estimate the PID parameters (Kp, Ki, and Kd), using system response data to derive values from both the L and T parameters as well as the Ku and Tu parameters. The experimental setup involved a DC motor controlled via PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), with speed measurements taken from a tachometer for validation. Results demonstrated an average percentage error of 2.08% between serial monitor readings and tachometer measurements, indicating high accuracy. Further refinement using the Iterative Methods identified optimal PID settings (Kp = 0.095, Ki = 0.08, Kd = 0.02) that provided stable and precise speed control. This study confirms the Ziegler-Nichols method as a reliable foundation for PID tuning, while also highlighting the effectiveness of iterative adjustments for achieving fine-tuned control. Future work may explore adaptive control strategies to enhance the system's responsiveness to changing conditions.
