Abstract

Farmers in the Nagari Simpang Tanjung Nan IV, Solok Regency, are using synthetic pesticides to achieve good agricultural results. Inappropriate pesticide application practices, such as mixing multiple types of pesticides simultaneously, using incorrect dosages, and spraying more than three times a day, have become commonplace. Residents living next to their farmlands have wells as their primary source of clean drinking water, which are located within the agricultural area. This situation poses a contamination risk to the community. The objective of this research is to analyze the risk of lead (Pb) content in well water within the agricultural area of Kenagarian Simpang Tanjung Nan IV. The research design employs the Environmental Health Risk Analysis (ARKL) method. The research findings indicate that Pb concentrations in the water range from 6,735 mg/L to 53,492 mg/L, exceeding the quality standards set by the Ministry of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017. A significant portion of the population frequently experiences health issues, with an intensity of 66.7%. The average lifetime Risk Quotient (RQ) is 1.11, indicating a risk of pesticide poisoning in the community. Therefore, it is recommended that the community limits the use of pesticides and uses boiled water for daily consumption in an effort to minimize the danger of exposure to heavy metal Pb entering the body through water.

Abstract

Abstract

In the working area of the Andalas Health Center, ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection) ranked first among the ten most common diseases. As of December 2022, 80.43% of houses in this area did not meet health standards. This study aimed to identify factors associated with the incidence of ARI in toddlers in the Andalas Health Center area in 2023. This was an analytical survey using a cross-sectional approach, conducted from March to June 2023. Data were collected through interviews and home environment assessments. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods with the Chi-square test. Results showed that 62.8% of toddlers experienced ARI. Among the assessed homes, 60% had inadequate ventilation, 60% had poor natural lighting, 57.1% had improper room temperature, 68.6% had unsuitable humidity levels, and 54.3% had high occupancy density. Bivariate analysis revealed significant associations between natural lighting (p=0.0001; PR=6.667), room temperature (p=0.0001; PR=4.750), and humidity (p=0.0001; PR=9.625) with ARI incidence. However, no significant relationship was found with ventilation (p=0.353) and occupancy density (p=0.073). It is recommended that sanitarians at the Andalas Health Center increase healthy home education and implement preventive measures, including physical home improvements. Cross-sector collaboration is encouraged to support home renovation programs for low-income families, to create a healthy home environment.

Abstract

Disability groups are groups vulnerable to disaster risk. Most families with disabilities feel worried about defending themselves in the event of a disaster. They are less socialized with disaster mitigation efforts. This research has provided an overview of the preparedness of families with disabilities children in increasing disaster resilience. Analytical research was conducted on families with disabilities children in the city of Padang. Data collection tools in this study used a standard questionnaire from LIPI-UNESCO / ISDR. The data were processed by a computer and analyzed using multiple regression statistical tests. The results showed the preparedness of Families With Disabilities Children in the face of disasters; it was seen that the knowledge category was ready (42.2%), the preparedness plan category was not ready (37.8%), the disaster warning category was not ready (46.7%), the resource mobilization category was not ready, ready (82.2%), the tsunami disaster preparedness index value is 57% (ready category). This research recommended local governments must provide special treatment for people with disabilities by increasing training, seminars, and disaster simulations.

Abstract

Dug wells are the main source of clean water supplies for people living in rural and urban areas of Indonesia. The clean water used by the people of the Panjang Kapuh Desert generally comes from dug wells and drilled wells. In Village Gurun Panjang Kapuh, there are many dug wells that do not meet the construction requirements of dug wells, so they can pose a risk to clean water consumed by the community. The purpose of this study was to obtain an overview of the risk of pollution and coliform content of dug well water in the Village Gurun Panjang Kapuh, Koto XI Tarusan District, Pesisir Selatan Regency in 2022. This research is descriptive with a population of all houses that have clean water facilities dug wells as many as 730 dug wells. Data obtained from the results of the sanitary inspection of dug wells using the sanitation inspection form, in 85 dug wells 7 samples of dug well water were taken for water biology examination (Coliform) in the laboratory. Generally, there is a high risk of contamination of dug wells (69.4%). The total biological content (Coliform) of dug well water from 7 samples, 6 of which did not meet the requirements. It is recommended to the public to make or repair the well construction so that it has a good construction to prevent contamination of dug wells. Health workers should provide counseling and supervise dug well sanitation inspections and periodically check the biological quality of dug well water.
