Abstract

The recirculation system in the maintenance of tortoise will affect several water quality parameters, also known as water quality dynamics. Water quality such as temperature, DO, pH, turbidity, nitrate, nitrite, alkalinity, total hardness, TAN are parameters that are directly related to the physiological system of fish. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of various recirculation systems on water quality dynamics. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 3 replications and fish were kept for 20 days. The results obtained during the research include physical and chemical parameters. The temperature was between 24.5Co-27.6Co, the highest temperature measured in the current recirculation system treatment, the degree of acidity (pH) the average pH value ranged from 6.10-7.42. The value of nitrite ranged from 0.041-0.083 mg/L. Nitrate values ranged on average from 4.40 to 5.32. The average alkalinity value ranges from 44.02 to 77.30 alkalinity has a large effect on pH. Ammonia is produced from the excretory activity of fish, the average value of ammonia is 0.05 - 0.2 mg/L. In this study, the highest survival rate was found in the current recirculation treatment with a survival rate of 99%, and the lowest survival value was found in the non-recirculating treatment with a value of 53.5%. In this study, water quality is very influential on the survival of the jungle fish. Keywords: water quality; jurung fish; maintenance; recirculation; Dynamics system

Abstract

The cultivation of dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) has great potential to be a profitable business as long as farmers can overcome obstacles such as odors in ponds and fish. Maintenance ponds that are not paid enough attention to make the aroma of the resulting dumbo catfish slime stronger. In overcoming this problem, we need a material that can reduce the odor in dumbo catfish. One natural ingredient that can improve water quality and reduce odor in catfish is by mixing chitosan in the feed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of chitosan in removing odors and to determine the best dose of chitosan for eliminating odors in dumbo catfish. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments used were (P0 = without chitosan; P1 = 2% chitosan; P2 = 4% chitosan; P3 = 6% chitosan, with 3 repetitions for each treatment). Parameters observed included organoleptic tests including aroma, texture, and taste to determine the effect of chitosan on dumbo catfish meat. The results of the study showed that the addition of chitosan to feed had a significant effect on eliminating odors in the organoleptic (aroma, texture, taste) of African catfish. The best dose of chitosan to remove odor in dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is at P2 (dose 4%) and P3 (6%).

Abstract

Depik fish is a fish which is one of the endemic species in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh Regency. Typical fish of the Gayo community which is currently being developed for domestication. However, from the results of several studies, the growth of depik fish is relatively slow, so it needs to be increased. One way to accelerate the growth of depik fish is by hormonal induction, through immersion in the hormone thyroxine with different doses. The aim of this research is to evaluate the growth performance and survival of depik fish soaked in thyroxine hormone with different doses of thyroxine hormone. This research was carried out at the Lukup Badak Fish Seed Center (BBI), Central Aceh using a completely randomized design (CRD) experimental method with four treatments and three repetitions. The treatments in this research were different durations of immersion in the thyroxine hormone, namely: no dose (P0), 0.05 mg/ liter (P1), 0.1 mg/ liter (P2), and 0.15 mg/ liter (P3). Meanwhile, the duration of the thyroxine hormone soaking used is 24 hours. Rearing of fish seeds is carried out using an Aquarium measuring 30 cm long, 20 cm wide and 25 cm high according to the treatment, for 28 days with a stocking density of 20 fish/container. This study concluded that different doses of the thyroxine hormone in Depik fish fry gave the highest growth in the treatment dose of 0.15 mg/liter, while the lowest growth was in the control treatment (no dose).
