Abstract

This study addresses the low learning outcomes of Grade V elementary school students in the Integrated Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject. The objective of this classroom action research is to improve student learning outcomes through the application of the Inquiry Learning Model. The research was conducted at a public elementary school in Indonesia over two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The sample consisted of 25 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation sheets, learning outcome tests, and documentation. Analysis focused on both qualitative (teacher and student activity) and quantitative (student test scores) data. In Cycle I, classical learning completeness was 63%, and classical absorption reached 64.21%. After revising the instructional strategies, Cycle II showed a significant improvement, with classical completeness reaching 100% and absorption increasing to 88.42%. The results indicate that the Inquiry Learning Model effectively enhances students' understanding and engagement in IPAS learning. This model promotes active student involvement, encourages critical thinking, and improves conceptual mastery. The findings suggest that implementing inquiry-based strategies in classroom instruction can lead to better academic outcomes in elementary science and social science subjects. Educators are encouraged to adopt and adapt the inquiry model to different learning contexts. The paper includes 22 references, 2 tables and the learning instruments used during the study. Future research may explore the long-term impact of inquiry learning on various student competencies across different grade levels and subject areas.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model supported by the Wordwall application on student learning outcomes in Grade V IPAS subjects at SD Inpres Kabonena. This research employs a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design, specifically the one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 25 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests, interviews, and documentation. The analysis involved prerequisite tests including normality testing, N-Gain analysis, and hypothesis testing using the Paired Sample T-Test, assisted by IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The results of this study indicate a T-test significance value of 0.001 < 0.05; therefore, H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted, meaning that there is a significant effect of the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by the Wordwall application on student learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model assisted by the Wordwall application has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Grade V students in IPAS subjects at SD Inpres Kabonena. The Problem-Based Learning model assisted by the Wordwall application deserves to be considered as an alternative solution for innovative and effective learning in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research investigates the teacher’s role in music education for fifth-grade students at SD Islam Alhidayah Besusu. Recognizing that music learning at the elementary level is essential for developing students’ cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, the study focuses on how teachers act as facilitators, classroom managers, motivators, supervisors, and demonstrators. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation involving a classroom teacher and students. Findings reveal that while the teacher has performed well as a demonstrator and class manager, several challenges persist, including limited musical instruments and the teacher’s lack of formal training in music education. Observations and student questionnaires indicate that students generally perceive the teacher’s efforts positively, especially in creating a conducive learning atmosphere and providing clear demonstrations. Statistical results from the questionnaires show that 62.5% of students state the teacher always gives clear examples before practice, and 50% feel inspired by musical works shown in class. In conclusion, despite facing resource constraints, the teacher’s proactive role significantly supports the effectiveness of music learning. It is recommended that schools provide more comprehensive training and facilities to empower teachers in delivering high-quality music education in primary schools.

Abstract

Reading interest plays a crucial role in academic achievement, particularly during elementary education when foundational literacy skills are established. However, limited research has examined this relationship within Indonesian elementary education contexts. This study investigated the correlation between reading interest and Indonesian language learning outcomes among fourth-grade students. A quantitative correlational design was employed with 16 fourth-grade students at SD Inpres 5 Taipa Laga selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a validated 13-item reading interest questionnaire (Cronbach's α = 0.85) and students' midterm examination scores in Indonesian language. Statistical analysis was conducted using Pearson's correlation with significance set at p ≤ 0.05. All participants demonstrated either high (44%) or very high (56%) reading interest levels. Academic performance showed similar distribution with 44% achieving good scores and 56% excellent scores. Correlation analysis revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between reading interest and learning outcomes (p = 0.003). Students with very high reading interest achieved excellent academic performance (88.9%) compared to those with high interest (14.3%). The findings validate Expectancy-Value Theory by demonstrating how intrinsic motivation correlates with academic achievement. Results align with previous research emphasizing the importance of reading interest in literacy development. The strong correlation suggests that educational interventions targeting reading interest cultivation may enhance academic outcomes. Study limitations include small sample size and cross-sectional design, necessitating longitudinal research with diverse populations to establish causal relationships.

Abstract

The issues underlying the implementation of this community service activity cover two main aspects, namely: (1) the lack of optimal opportunities for teachers to develop their professional competencies through technology-based learning, and (2) the lack of maximum utilisation of learning media that is in line with the characteristics and learning styles of students. This community service activity was designed with the aim of improving teachers' understanding, skills, and competence in utilising the Assemblr Edu application as a means of designing Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media. It is hoped that the implementation of this activity will make a real contribution to improving the quality of the learning process at SDN Lonja. The activity was carried out at SDN Lonja with the involvement of the principal and teachers based on the subjects they teach. The stages of implementation of the community service programme include socialisation and direct mentoring activities using a group approach, so that teachers can gain collaborative practical experience. The results of the activities show that all participants were able to use the Assemblr Edu application and create AR-based learning media tailored to the learning needs of each group, such as solar system and food chain visualisation media for upper grades, interactive maps for social studies and civics lessons, and 3D prayer and art media for religious and art teachers. The dissemination of the Assemblr Edu application to teachers proved to run smoothly and had a positive impact in the form of increasing teachers' knowledge and skills in using Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media. Teachers who were initially unfamiliar with this application are now able to understand its benefits and operate it to create learning media in accordance with the teaching material. This activity has had a positive impact in improving teachers' readiness to face the challenges of 21st-century learning and has contributed to improving the quality of the teaching and learning process in schools.
