Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impacts of the 2013 Curriculum and the Merdeka Curriculum on primary, junior, and senior high school education in Indonesia. The 2013 Curriculum was introduced to enhance critical thinking, creativity, and character education, while the Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes greater flexibility, independence, and student-centered learning approaches. This study used a mixed-methods with a comparative analysis to assess educational outcomes, teacher and student adaptability, and overall satisfaction within these distinct curricular contexts. Data was collected via surveys, interviews, and academic performance metrics from a representative sample of schools across different regions of Indonesia. Quantitative data from surveys were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, including t-tests and ANOVA, to compare student engagement levels and academic performance under both curricula. Qualitative data from interviews and observations were coded and analyzed thematically to capture the nuanced experiences and perceptions of teachers and students. Research findings show that the 2013 Curriculum and the Merdeka Curriculum have their strengths and weaknesses, the latter is generally viewed more favorably by teachers and students for its emphasis on flexibility, learner autonomy, and holistic development. The Merdeka Curriculum has shown promise in fostering student engagement, critical thinking skills, and creativity, yet challenges persist in terms of implementation, teacher training, and resource allocation. A novel finding of this research is the significant improvement in holistic assessment practices under the Merdeka Curriculum, which better captures student competencies beyond standardized testing. Additionally, the study highlights the critical role of equitable resource allocation and continuous professional development for teachers in the successful implementation of curriculum reforms.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Google Sites as a learning media for Indonesian language instruction to enhance the Pancasila Student Profile in elementary schools. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were elementary school teachers and students who utilized this web-based learning media. Data were collected through interviews and observations with respondents. The data analysis included qualitative methods, such as data reduction and presentation, as well as quantitative analysis, supported by data triangulation to compare findings from various sources. The research showed that 84.6% of respondents strongly agree, and 15.4% agree, that this Google Sites-based platform was effective in increasing student engagement and interest in learning Indonesian. This learning medium allows students to study independently, search for necessary materials flexibly, and access engaging and interactive learning resources, positively impacting their understanding and learning outcomes. Additionally, the media received a feasibility score of 3.75. The content and language feasibility score of 3.75 also indicates an enhancement in the characteristics of the Pancasila student profile. Features such as discussion forums, collaborative project assignments, and materials aligned with Pancasila values help students develop skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and national values. Students are encouraged to actively participate and collaborate with peers, fostering cooperation and responsibility.

Abstract

Instilling local wisdom values in early childhood is crucial for strengthening cultural identity and contextual learning. Learning media based on local wisdom needs to be developed and its effectiveness evaluated in early childhood education. This study aims to evaluate the quality of local wisdom-based instructional media for early childhood education across five aspects: systematics, language, substance, graphics, and usefulness. A descriptive quantitative survey was conducted with 100 early childhood teachers in Surakarta. The instrument was a validated questionnaire using a four-point rating scale. Reliability testing confirmed internal consistency, and ethical protocols (informed consent, anonymity) were observed. The research results show that, Findings reveal that systematics and usefulness scored highest, showing that the media is well-structured and supportive for teaching practice. In contrast, the substance and graphic aspects scored lower, indicating limited content depth and visual quality. Divergent views were noted on the use of foreign terms. Local wisdom-based instructional media is highly relevant and useful, but improvements are required in substance integration and visual design. This study contributes novelty by providing a comprehensive evaluation framework for media grounded in local culture. Practical implications highlight the importance of contextualizing media development for teachers, while future research should examine direct impacts on children’s learning outcomes.
