Abstract

Hypertension is still one of the problems that exist in the world of health to this day. General public knows it as hypertension because of the increase in blood pressure exceeding the normal limit. According to 'Riskesdas’ data in Southeast Asia in 2018, the number of hypertension patients in Indonesia increased by 34.1% annually. This study uses a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. Data was collected in July 2024 with a population of 35 respondents and a sample of 33 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria with purposive sampling techniques. Data processing included coding, editing, and tabulating, then analyzed with SPSS software for the Wilcoxon test with an α of 0.05. The study results showed that before the counseling was carried out, as many as 13 respondents had poor self-management, while 15 had good self-management after counseling. Meanwhile, the blood pressure results before counseling were 21 respondents with unstable systolic results and 23 respondents with stable diastolics, while after counseling there were 24 respondents with stable systolic results and 33 respondents with stable diastolic. After the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.003 in self-management, a p-value of 0.001 in systolic blood pressure, and a p-value of 0.002 in diastolic blood pressure, which was smaller than α (0.05). This shows the influence of health counseling on self-management and blood pressure stability in hypertensive patients. This research shows that health counseling is essential to realize good self-management in hypertensive patients so that good blood pressure stability can be achieved.

Abstract

Cataracts are one of the causes of blindness, successful cataract treatment does not depend on surgery alone. Postoperative care and treatment greatly influences visual outcomes after surgery. The research aims to explain the relationship between the level of treatment compliance and visual acuity in patients after phacomulsification cataract surgery at Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Lumajang. The research design used was analytical observational with a cross sectional approach. The target population is 70 patients with cataracts who check up at the eye clinic, the target population is post-cataract surgery patients who are controlled at the eye clinic with a amount of 46 patients. The research sample consisted of 45 respondents who were selected using the Accidental Sampling technique. Data collection used the MMAS-8 questionnaire to measure the level of treatment compliance and the Snellen Chart to measure visual acuity values. Data analysis used the Spearman rank correlation test. The results of measuring the level of compliance with treatment of patients after phacomulsification cataract surgery at Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Lumajang were obtained by 17 patients (37.8%) of the amount respondents who had a low level of treatment compliance. The results of measuring the vision values of 16 patients (35.6%) of the amount respondents had good vision values. The results of data analysis using the Spearman rank correlation test showed a significant relationship between the level of treatment compliance and vision scores with a value of ρ = 0.000 < 0.05. This shows that the more compliant the treatment is, the better the visual acuity score. Research shows that patient compliance with post-cataract surgery treatment is critical for optimal recovery. High compliance is associated with improved vision, so disciplined patients tend to have better vision. These findings emphasize that interventions to improve patient compliance should be a top priority in cataract treatment, and postoperative patient compliance needs to be considered

Abstract

Disasters such as floods, earthquakes, and pandemics have been shown to affect the quality of life, mental health, and economic sustainability of affected communities. In response to these disasters, individuals are expected to prepare themselves and their families for the worst risks that can occur at any time. Currently, family preparedness is very important to be grown in social life. The purpose of this research is to describe the relationship between socio-demographic factors associated with family preparedness in urban disaster-prone areas in Probolinggo District. The research design used was descriptive analytic research design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using purposive sampling technique with a sample of 122 respondents. Furthermore, respondents will be given a questionnaire to determine or identify family preparedness variables. After that, the data was collected and processed with the help of SPSS 23 for windows using bivariate tests on each variable to determine its relationship with family preparedness. From the results of the bivariate test using Spearman rank, there is a significant relationship between socio-demographic factors and family preparedness including: gender (p=0.000), education (p=0.000), occupation (p=0.000), and knowledge with (p=0.015). Meanwhile, the variables of age (p=0.808) and social support (p=0.195) have no correlation with family preparedness (p value 0.05). These results indicate that it is important to improve family preparedness by correcting deficiencies in several factors that do not have a significant relationship from the research results

Abstract

Currently, the main problem that occurs is the high number of flood disasters which have a very large impact on people's lives. This flood disaster has not been matched by community preparedness in flood-prone areas. Most of them still do not have preparedness in responding to disasters that threaten every year. Therefore, efforts are needed to increase the preparedness of at least the closest family to gain knowledge and ability to respond to existing disaster events. The purpose of this study was to find out how FDMT influences family preparedness. The research design used was a pre-experimental design with a one group pre post test design approach. The sample was selected by purposive sampling technique with a sample of 60 respondents. Furthermore, respondents were asked to fill out a questionnaire first (pre-test) then given an intervention. Then at the end of the activity the respondent will be given a questionnaire (post test) about family preparedness, These variables include: knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and abilities. The results showed that all sub-variables of family preparedness experienced a significant increase before and after the intervention, namely: knowledge increased (p = 0.000), perception (p = 0.021), attitude (p = 0.001) and ability (p = 0.000). From the results of this study it can be concluded that the FDMT intervention is effective in increasing family preparedness so that it can be used for disaster management training for the community.

Abstract

The abundance of flora in Indonesia is an advantage that Indonesia has, so it needs to be preserved to support the continuity of social life. Cemara udang is a conifer tree with a straight, sturdy trunk, with hanging branches and sharp green leaves which is also found in Indonesia, which borders the Indian Ocean. This species is conserved in Indonesia and is found in coastal areas, beaches and mangrove forests. Through this literature study, exploration of the empowerment of cemara udang plants is discussed. Cemara udang plants provide protection from potential adverse climates such as strong winds and soil protection. This plant also has medical benefits such as inflammation problems, digestive issues, and sore throats, and is anti-bacterial. This plant is known to have biactive compounds such as alkaloids, glycosides, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, phenolics and triterpenoids. This study also explores the potential for sustainability of cemara udang plants in Indonesia to make them more commercially efficient, as an advanced material whose potential has recently been discovered as nanoparticles for health, and as an adsorbent to overcome the problem of aquatic environments that contain a lot of residual dye.

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying various plants in Indonesia that can be used as natural preservatives for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), extraction methods and their application techniques. The method used in this literature study involved electronic searches in published databases such as PubMed, Wiley Online Library, and Google Scholar. Data acquisition was conducted by searching journals using specific keywords, focusing on journal publications from 2010 to 2025. The collected data were identified, analyzed, and evaluated, followed by compiling the analysis results to develop arguments and draw conclusions. The findings of this study indicate that (1) the plant parts used as natural preservatives include leaves, rhizomes, fruits, fruit peels, seeds, and stems, with leaves being the most frequently studied compared to roots, fruits, and seeds; (2) The active compounds with potential preservative properties in Indonesian plants include flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, steroids, triterpenoids, saponins, glycosides, and essential oils; (3) Among extraction processes, maceration is the most commonly used technique for obtaining natural preservatives from plants; (4) The application methods used for these natural preservatives include soaking and coating techniques. Thus, it can be concluded that most of the examined plants exhibit excellent potential as natural preservatives for Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) based on chemical, microbiological, and organoleptic aspects.
