Abstract

Learning English, as outlined in Curriculum 2013, is more directed at mastering the ability to write text-based genres. In this study the author introduces game by utilizing the Android Emulator. The problem of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using the Andoid Emulator tool as an effective interactive learning media on the ability to write and the involvement of students in the learning process of writing. The design of this study is pre-test-post-test group design. After implementing the Game Before Writing Procedure using the Nox Android Emulator, a post-test is performed. The population is high school students SMA Bhayangkari 10 Porong. Research samples were 39 students. The Research Instruments are tests and observation sheet. Data Analysis is using the T Test and descriptive. From data, the mean difference is 12,435. This means that Learning with Game Before Writing Procedure has an influence on the ability of Writing Report.. 80% of students are actively involved in the game. Based on the results of the T Test for the Utilization of the Nox Android Emuator in the implementation of Game Before Writing Learning Procedures, it is effective in improving report writing skills. The fun game encourages student involvement

Abstract

This study aims to find out whether there was statistically significant difference of students’ English vocabulary achievement after the implementation of Total Physical Response (TPR) technique, the learning technique focuses on body movement and music. In addition, this research aims to find out how much influence the Total Physical Response (TPR) method has on learning English vocabulary that students can master it correctly during the process of teaching-learning activities. This research was a quantitative-qualitative research design. The subject of this research were 20 students of SDN Gampingrowo 02, Tarik, Sidoarjo. The English vocabulary tests and observation sheets were used to collect the data as the instrument of this study. This data was analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test. The result of this study showed that there was significant difference of students’ English vocabulary achievement after the implementation of Total Physical Response (TPR) technique in the application of English vocabulary learning, with p=0.00>0.005. This suggests that Total Physical Response (TPR) technique can help the students to understand English vocabulary easily and more interestingly. Abstract

This study investigates the integration of instructing derivational and inflectional morphemes at SMP Al Islah Surabaya to improve students' comprehension and its application to the English language. It aims to enhance students' vocabulary acquisition, reading comprehension, and writing skills by employing an effective curriculum and specific instructional methodologies. The present study employs a mixed-methods methodology, integrating quantitative language proficiency evaluations with qualitative observations of classroom interactions and student remarks. Initial results suggest that providing direct guidance on derivational and inflectional morphemes substantially impacts students' linguistic proficiency and apply grammatical principles with greater effectiveness. It emphasizes the significance of including morphology education in the language learning curriculum. It offers practical suggestions for teachers to cultivate a more profound morphology awareness among SMP Al Islah students and improve English language competency.

Abstract

Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) improves writing proficiency through flexible, interactive, and feedback-oriented educational experiences. Mobile devices provide real-time modifications, multimedia integration, and collaborative activities such as blogging and peer review, allowing students to enhance their writing skills beyond conventional classroom limitations. Writing, a critical skill in language acquisition, requires not only mastery of vocabulary and syntax but also the ability to structure ideas and communicate effectively. However, traditional classroom instruction often lacks the immediate feedback and interactivity that modern learners need. MALL addresses these challenges by offering real-time feedback, interactive exercises, and multimedia resources that enhance the writing process. Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) promotes vocabulary enhancement and cultural understanding via real digital information. Despite obstacles like technical limitations and application choices, its capacity to promote learner-centred environments is considerable. This study investigates the role of Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) in enhancing writing skills, focussing on its advantages and obstacles, and analysing techniques to optimise its effectiveness. The findings from this research can guide optimal strategies for integrating mobile technology into language education, thereby enhancing student engagement and writing proficiency.

Abstract

This community engagement program was designed to enhance the pedagogical skills of early childhood educators by introducing montage-based learning as an innovative method to support children's fine motor and language development. The program was implemented at a rural early childhood education center in Pasuruan, Indonesia, where a significant number of children exhibited limited motor and verbal abilities, and teachers had not previously applied montage as a structured learning and evaluation tool. The program involved a series of activities, including needs assessment, training workshops, guided classroom implementation, and evaluation using a custom-designed assessment rubric. The results showed significant improvements in both teacher competence and student engagement. Teachers demonstrated increased confidence and creativity in planning and conducting montage activities, while children displayed better coordination and expressive language skills during and after the intervention. The developed rubric was found to be effective in capturing children's developmental progress in a structured manner. Overall, the program successfully empowered educators to integrate art-based methods into their teaching strategies, resulting in a more engaging and developmentally supportive learning environment. This approach holds promise for broader application in other early childhood education contexts to address similar pedagogical challenges.

Abstract

Traditional methods such as rote memorization and one-way instruction lead to low interest and limited interaction. The community service program introduced the cooperative jigsaw method, where students worked in small groups, took responsibility for vocabulary learning, and taught peers collaboratively. This program aimed to enhance student motivation and engagement in English vocabulary learning through the jigsaw technique at a primary school in Pranti Village, Sedati, Sidoarjo. Using observation checklists, questionnaires, and classroom documentation, the study found that students were attentive, participative, focused, and confident, showing initiative and effective interaction with peers and media. Questionnaire results confirmed increased motivation, enjoyment of responsibility, reduced stress, and higher confidence when learning collaboratively. Key supporting factors included engaging media, peer collaboration, student autonomy, and the teacher’s role as facilitator, aligning with Self-Determination Theory. In conclusion, the jigsaw technique effectively improved both motivation and engagement in vocabulary learning, offering a dynamic, student-centered approach that fosters meaningful and enjoyable language learning for young learners.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan anggota Karang Taruna sebagai tutor English for Young Learners (EYL) guna meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris anak-anak di komunitas mereka. Dengan fokus pada pelatihan metodologi pengajaran yang inovatif dan interaktif, program ini berhasil mengatasi kendala kurangnya tenaga pengajar yang kompeten dan metode pembelajaran yang kurang efektif. Inisiatif ini selaras dengan konsep pendidikan berbasis komunitas dan berkontribusi pada pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) dalam aspek pendidikan berkualitas dan pemberdayaan masyarakat.

Abstract

This community service attempts to explore the use of augmented reality (AR) in how teachers in Paciran can be well known to introduce new vocabulary to students right there. This is a qualitative study with the data taken from both surely by distributing the questionnaires both to the students and the teachers. The questionnaires to the students concern the use of AR in their learning of English while the questionnaires to the teachers is related to the use of AR in their schools and the teachers’ engagement in this AR for their classes. The data is also taken from the interview to the English teachers about the use of AR in learning English. Sifter all the data triangulated from the students and the teachers, they will be decoded and determined into the themes. Besides that, they are also presented in tables. Finally, the inferences can be done for making the conclusion. Based on the results of the training and application experiments to students, each teacher and student agreed that AR media had a positive impact on English learning.

Abstract

Background. The lack of awareness and knowledge possessed by English teachers about the importance of literary works in learning English in elementary schools is a significant factor that makes English learning does not runs optimally. Therefore, this community service program (PKM) needs to be carried out to help students at one of MI (Islamic Elementary School) in Pranti village, Sidoarjo learn English effectively through literary works in the form of fairy tales. Method. The implementation of this program was divided into three stages, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. At the planning stage, location survey and preliminary observation were conducted to get an overview of the partners. The team also discussed the problems experienced by the school and offered solutions. The implementation stage was carried out by conducting dissemination on learning English through literary works and implementation of English language learning through literary works. This program involved 25 third graders of the MI. Results. The result of the pretest revealed that all of the students (25 students) had unsatisfying scores.  After the implementation, the scores increased. All of the students (100%) achieved satisfying scores. The pretest and posttest scores showed a significantly different result as evidenced by the N-Gain score of 0.72 (72.2%). Conclusion. The community service program reveals that literary works in the form of fairy tales involved in classroom English learning through a short movie and flashcards is fairly effective to help the students learn English, especially in mastering the vocabulary. Abstrak: Kurangnya kesadaran dan pengetahuan yang dimiliki oleh guru bahasa Inggris akan pentingnya karya sastra dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar menjadi faktor signifikan yang menyebabkan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menjadi kurang maksimal.Oleh karena itu, program pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini perlu dilakukan untuk membantu siswa di salah satu MI (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) di Desa Pranti, Sidoarjo mempelajari bahasa Inggris secara efektif melaui karya sastra yang berbentuk cerita dongeng. Metode. Pelaksanaan program ini dibagi dalam tiga tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi.  Pada tahap perencanaan, survei lokasi dan observasi awal dilakukan untuk mendapatkan gambaran dari mitra. Tim ini juga mendiskusikan masalah yang dialami oleh sekolah tersebut serta menawarkan solusinya. Tahap pelaksanaan berisi kegiatan diseminasi tentang pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui karya sastra (berupa cerita dongeng), implementasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui karya sastra, monitoring dan bimbingan tentang penggunaan karya sastra dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Pada tahap terakhir, evaluasi pelaksanaan program dan keberlanjutan program setelah kegiatan PKM selesai. Program ini melibatkan 25 siswa kelas 3 di MI tersebut Hasil. Hasil pretes mengungkapkan bahwa semua siswa (100%) menghasilkan nilai yang tidak memuaskan. Setelah implementasi, nilai mereka meningkat. Semua siswa memperoleh nilai yang memuaskan. Nilai pretes dan posttes menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan yang dibuktikan dengan nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,72 (72,2%). Kesimpulan. Program PKM ini mengungkapkan bahwa karya sastra dalam bentuk cerita dongeng yang dilibatkan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di kelas melalui film pendek dan flashcards cukup efektif membantu siswa dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris, khususnya dalam penguasaan kosakata
