Abstract

ABSTRACTThe increasing population in Indonesia causes the need for food for animalprotein to increase. One of the contributors to animal protein is chicken. Thecharacteristics of chicken (joper) are that it can be produced in large quantities withuniform weight, faster growth rate than native chicken, has a low mortality rate, is easy to adapt to the environment and has a taste that is not different from native chicken. In the chicken farming business, the cost of feed has an effect of 70% so thatalternative feeds are needed to support business efficiency. One of the efforts toimprove business efficiency is the use of mulberry as a local poultry feed which ischeaper economically. However, the high content of crude fiber and antinutrients caninterfere with the energy adequacy of poultry by blocking the absorption of nutrientsfrom feed in the digestive tract. This study aims to determine whether the addition offermented mulberry leaves to the feed ration will affect the final weight of the supernative chicken. This study was grouped into 4 treatments, namely Treatment I (PO),ration feeding without additional mulberry leaf meal, treatment II (P1) feeding ration +2% fermented mulberry leaf flour, treatment III (P2) feeding ration + mulberry leaf meal fermented 4% and Treatment IV(P3) feeding ration + fermented mulberry leaf flour 6%. DOC came and weighed DOC with the aim of knowing the average initial weight. Final body weight was obtained from weighing 60 days old chicken body weight (g) before slaughter. The results showed that the final body weight of super free-range chicken fed with the addition of fermented mulberry leaf flour had an average final body weight of 677.4-721.8 g, thus the addition of fermented mulberry leaf flour in the feed ration had no significant effect (P > 0.05) to the final weight of chickens. Keywords: chicken, body weight, mulberry leaves, fermentation, feed ration

Abstract

The coverage of the COVID-19 Booster vaccination for pregnant women is still very low, this is because there are still many pregnant women who experience doubts about making a decision to vaccinate. Pregnant women found that Booster doses were associated with higher maternal antibody levels and thus reduced risk for severe COVID-19 related outcomes, as well as a stronger degree of protection for the baby than mothers who only received the primary dose (1st dose and 2nd dose). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the willingness of pregnant women to carry out the COVID-19 Booster vaccination. This research is a quantitative research with correlation analytic method. The population in this study were pregnant women who were recorded in the PWS KIA K1 data for pregnant women at the Balongpanggang Gresik Health Center as many as 120 respondents, a sample of 55 samples. Sampling used a purposive sampling method by distributing questionnaires online via Google forms and offline using a paper-based-test technique. The results of the study showed that the willingness of pregnant women to carry out the COVID-19 Booster vaccination was 80%. Bivariate analysis in this study used Chi square, Fisher and Kruskal-wallis statistical tests. There is a relationship between education, knowledge and attitudes with the willingness of pregnant women to carry out the COVID-19 Booster vaccination in the working area of the Balongpanggang Health Center, Gresik Regency in 2023. The role of midwives, the community and the government is very much needed in efforts to fulfill the coverage of the COVID-19 Booster vaccination, especially in pregnant women who are a vulnerable population during a pandemic. An approach with the right health promotion strategy is expected to be able to help achieve the target of vaccination coverage.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between egg weight and fertility, hatching loss, hatchability, and fixed weight of Super Javanese chickens (Joper) in the context of developing the TEFA (teaching factory) Breeding and Hatchery at the Politeknik Negeri Jember. This research used 40 layer hens and 5 rooster Bangkok chickens reared in colonies with a ratio of 8:1. Treatment consisted of grouping egg weights, namely P1 (<55 g) and P2 (>55 g). Observations were made three times during the hatching period. The variables observed were fertilization, hatchability, and hatching weight. The data obtained was analyzed descriptively and analytically. The results showed that egg weight was closely correlated with hatching weight (R = 0.98) and had a regression value of Y = -0.625 + 0.686X. The hatching weight of eggs weighing <55 g and eggs weighing >55 g had a significant difference (P<0.05) with eggs weighing >55 g having a greater hatching weight. Egg weight had no significant effect (P>0.05) on hatchability or the percentage of hatched or unhatched eggs. The conclusion that can be drawn is that egg weight has a real influence and is closely correlated with hatching weight (DOC weight).
