Abstract

The Culex mosquito acts as a vector for elephantiasis or is called filariasis. As an efforts tostop a chain of mosquito spread. The eradication by using chemicals could endanger human health.Therfore, need to make natural insecticides from plants. The aims of study is to determine the effect ofsqueezed water leek (Allium fistulosum L.) to inhibit of Culex sp mosquito larvae. The research was anexperimental method with a complete randomized design. As a control group used without squeezedwater leek, intervention group divided into 10% and 20% concentrations of squeezed water leek. Eachgroup was done with 9 times repetition. Ten Culex mosquito larvae put into each glass of concentration0%, 10%, 20% of squeezed water leek for 24 hours. Afterwards, dead larvaes were counted. Theresults of study showed the mortality of Culex sp mosquito larvae for about 0,56 ± 0,72% for controlgroup, 3,78 ± 0,66% for 10% concentration of leek juice, 5,22 ± 1,20 % for 20% concentration ofsqueezed water leek. Based on the result of Kruskal-Wallis test, showed there were a significant effect,between concentration of squeezed water leek to inhibit a larvae mosquito live, with P value 0,000.While the results of Mann-Withney test for each group showed P value < 0,05. The conclusion of thestudy was, consentration of squeezed water leek (Allium fistulosum L.) had a killing power effectCulex sp. Mosquito larvae.

Abstract

Coconut milk includes foodstuffs containing high levels of water and fat. Coconut milk used to people as an addition ingredients in etawa goat milk that could be constributed in protein levels lowering. Therefore, giving coconut milk in Etawa goat milk composition need to observe by determining of protein levels in Etawa goat milk (Capra Aegagrus Hircus) which mixed with coconut milk. The study used an experimental design which had two main group such as treatment group and control group. As control group (K) using pure Etawa goat milk, and treatment group used etawa goat milk with the addition of coconut milk with various ratio such as 1: 1(v/v) (Q1), 1: 2(v/v) (Q2), 1: 3(v/v) (Q3), 1: 4(v/v)(Q4), 1: 5(v/v) (Q5) with 4 times replication each one. Afterward, protein levels was observed using gravimetri methods. The results study showed protein levels of each group was obtained K=2,00% ± 0,13%, Q1=1,30% ± 0,13%, Q2=1,28% ± 0,13%, Q3=1,25% ± 0,17%, Q4=1,19% ± 0,13%, and Q5=1,14% ± 25%. Based on statistically test results using One Way Annova was obtained P-value = 0.000 that meaned any significant differencess in protein levels of each group. As conclusion of the study was coconut milk added in milk protein levels would decrease protein levels of milk.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Desa Simoangin-angin merupakan salah satu desa di Kabupaten Sidoarjo yang memiliki kader kesehatan. Mengingat pentingnya peran Kader Kesehatan dalam pembangunan kesehatan di desa, program studi D-IV Analis Kesehatan Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama melakukan kolaborasi dalam upaya peningkatan pengetahuan penggunaan glukometer untuk menjaring warga yang diduga mengalami DM.  Meningkatkan wawasan Kader Kesehatan dalam menggunakan glukometer yang baik dan benar. Pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan. Evaluasid dilakukan dengan penilaian hasil pre-test dan post-test sebelum yang kemudian dilakutkan uji statistik menggunakan Mann Whitney, nilai-P < 0,05 dinyatakan terdapat perbedaan hasil.  Penyuluhan di hadiri oleh 20 Kader Kesehatan, Jumlah kader yang mengikuti pre-test sebanyak 20 orang dan post-test sebanyak 13 orang. Nilai rerata pre-test 4,50 ± 2,14, sedangkan hasil post-test yaitu 9,24 ± 1,30. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik menggunakan uji Mann Whitney, terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara nilai pre-test dengan post-test (P-value = 0,000). Penyuluhan mampu meningkatkan wawasan bagi para Kader Kesehatan di Desa Simoangin-angin terhadap penggunaan alat glukometer yang baik dan benar. Kata Kunci: Glukometer, Kader Kesehatan, Wawasan  ABSTRACT Simoangin-angin Village is one of the villages in Sidoarjo Regency which has health cadres. Given the important role of health cadres in health development in villages, the Study Program of Medical Laboratory Technology Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya collaborated in an effort to increase knowledge of the use of glucometers to screen residents suspected of having DM. Increase the insight of Health Cadres in using a good and correct glucometer. Community service is carried out by counseling methods. Evaluation was carried out by assessing the results of the pre-test and post-test prior to which a statistical test was carried out using Mann Whitney, a P-value <0.05 indicated that there was a difference in the results. Counseling was attended by 20 health cadres. The number of cadres who took part in the pre-test was 20 people and the post-test was 13 people. The pre-test mean value was 4.50 ± 2.14, while the post-test results were 9.24 ± 1.30. Based on the results of statistical tests using the Mann Whitney test, there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores (P-value = 0.000). Counseling was able to increase the knowledge of Health Cadres in Simoangin-Angin Village regarding the proper and correct use of a glucometer. Keywords: Insights, Glucometer, Health Cadres

Abstract

Menurut survey sementara yang telah dilakukan di Pondok Pesantren Hidayatullah Al Muhajirin banyak santri yang belum mengetahui manfaat bawang putih yang dapat digunakan sebagai penanganan infeksi jamur candida. Dengan adanya permasalahan tersebut, tim pengusul akan melakukan pengabdian masyarakat dengan judul “Pengenalan Manfaat Bawang Putih dalam Penanganan Infeksi Jamur Candida di PP Hidayatulloh Al Muhajirin Bangkalan” dengan harapan para santri mampu mengetahui manfaat dan mengaplikasikan bawang putih sebagai pengobatan herbal untuk menanggulangi infeksi jamur candida. Metode Penyuluhan ini dilakukan secara offline di ruang pertemuan PP Hidayatulloh Al Muhajirin Bangkalan dengan mengundang beberapa pengurus dan santri sebanyak 48 santri. Sebelum dan sesudah dilaksanakan sosialisasi peserta diberikan kuesioner untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan terhadap budidaya tanaman obat keluarga sekaligus sebagai tolak ukur pemahaman peserta. Hasil dan Pembahasan Terdapat 12 responden (25,00%) yang memiliki penilaian post test yang baik, 29 responden (60,42%) memiliki penilaian post test yang cukup dan 7 responden (14,58%) memiliki penilaian post test yang kurang. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan sebelum dan setelah dilakukan pemaparan materi penyuluhan. Saat pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terlihat para peserta terlihat antusias dan menyimak materi dengan seksama. Kesimpulan Kegiatan ini berdampak positif dan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan terhadap manfaat bawang putih dalam kesehatan. adanya peningkatan pengetahuan ini diharapakkan kedepannya para santriwati dapat memperbaiki pola hidup bersih agar terhindar dari infeksi jamur candida serta mampu menerapkan apa yang telah disampaikan.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit metabolic yang tiap tahun mengalami peningkatan tidak hanya diperkotaan, namun juga di pedesaan seperti desa Ngepung, Kecamatan Kedamean, Kabupaten Gresik. Tujuan dilaksanakan Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini adalah untuk mengimplemetasikan terapi berjemur di pagi hari secara rutin guna menurunkan resiko diabetes melitus dan memberikan alternatif bagi masyarakat terutama lansia untuk menerapkan pola hidup sehat sebagai pencegahan terhadap penyakit diabetes melitus. Metode pelaksanaan yang dilakukan meliputi penyuluhan diet sehat dan manfaat terapi berjemur di pagi hari dan pemeriksaan kadar glukosa darah pada hari ke-1 sebelum terapi berjemur dan ke-7 setelah melakukan terapi berjemur. Kegiatan penyuluhan diikuti 29 warga dengan target usia usia 40 tahun keatas. Implementasi berjemur di pagi hari dilakukan selama 10 menit selama 7 hari. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan mampu meningkatkan antusiasme masyarakat untuk hidup sehat. Namun, untuk implementasi kegiatan terapi berjemur hanya diikuti 16 peserta pada hari ke-1 namun hari ke-7 sejumlah 9 orang.

Abstract

Kolagen dan kitosan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pembalut luka karena memiliki karakteristik yang baik. Namun, pembalut luka kolagen-kitosan perlu dilakukan uji sitotoksisitas sebelum diaplikasikan secara in vivo, seperti Brine Shrimp Lethally Test (BSLT). Pembalut luka kolagen-kitosan tidak dapat larut dalam Dimetil Sulfoksida (DMSO) dan aquadest dengan mudah, oleh karena itu perlu pertimbangan alternatif pelarut karena kolagen dan kitosan lebih mudah larut dalam pelarut asam seperti asam klorida (HCl) dan asam asetat ( CH3COOH). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Lethal Concentration  50 (LC50) dari pembalut luka kolagen-kitosan yang dilarutkan dalam pelarut DMSO, HCl, CH3COOH dengan metode Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Pembalut luka kolagen-kitosan didapatkan dengan mencampurkan larutan kitosan 2% dan kolagen dengan perbandingan 1:1 w/w kemudian dihomogenkan, dicetak, dan dikeringkan.  Penelitian ini menggunakan uji sitotoksisitas dengan metode BSLT dan LC50 dihitung menggunakan Analisis Probit. Pembalut luka dilarutkan dalam pelarut DMSO 1%, CH3COOH 1%, dan HCl 1% hingga homogen, kemudian diencerkan dengan berbagai konsentrasi yaitu 100 ppm, 250 ppm, 250 ppm, 500 ppm, dan 1000 ppm dengan tiga kali ulangan untuk setiap perlakuan. Setelah itu uji BSLT dilakukan dengan menggunakan Artemia salina. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembalut luka yang dilarutkan dalam DMSO 1% memiliki LC50 > 1000 ppm, sedangkan pada pelarut CH3COOH dan pelarut  HCl menunjukkan  LC50< 30. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pelarut DMSO bersifat non-toksik (LC50  > 1000 ppm), tetapi pelarut CH3COOH 1% dan HCl 1% bersifat sangat toksik (LC50 < 30 ppm) sebagai pelarut alternatif pembalut luka kolagen-kitosan pada uji BSLT.

Abstract

Street sweepers, traffic officers, roadside sellers and motorcyclists, including students are subjects who are vulnerable to exposure to vehicle fumes. One of the air pollution generated from motor vehicle fumes is lead (Pb) which is toxic to humans and is accumulative. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between characteristic factors and lead levels in hair using the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) method. Respondents in this study were 32 male university students. The results showed a significance value of 0.274 (p> 0.05) on the parameter of PPE use, 0.049 (p <0.05) on the mileage parameter, and 0.576 (p> 0.05) on the smoking habit parameter. So it can be concluded that there is no effect of the use of PPE and smoking habits on hair lead levels and there is an effect of mileage on hair lead levels in student respondents.

Abstract

Disposal of Lapindo mud into Porong river had caused environmental polluted which might affect water quality and surrounding especially ponds in Jabon Subdistrict, Sidoarjo city. One of hazardous contaminant that harmful to health was chromium (Cr) metal which had carcinogenic effect. The aim of this study was analyzed Cr levels in ponds water, Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) flesh, Milkfish (Chanos chanos) flesh, Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) flesh, and analyzed the correlation of Cr levels ponds water to Cr levels of Nile tilapia, milkfish, Vaname shrimp. Results of study shown that Cr levels of all ponds water sample were <0,0201mg/L which indicated safe to consumed because they were lower than standard of water Cr levels about <0,05 mg/L. Result of Cr levels in Nile tilapia flesh and Milkfish flesh had same Cr levels about <0,0004 mg/kg which indicated safe to consumed because they were lower than standard of Cr levels fish flesh about <2,5 mg/kg. Shrimp flesh taken from T3 (0,532 mg/kg ) and T5 (0,461 mg/kg) were higher than standard of Cr levels shrimp flesh about 0,4 mg/kg hence need beware to consume. Correlation analyzed of ponds water Cr levels to Nile tilapia flesh, Milkfish flesh, Vaname shrimp flesh Cr levels shown those were not correlation between both of them because P >0,05.

Abstract

Cosmetics are materials intended for use on the outside of the human body or teeth and mucous membranes of the mouth especially to cleanse, scent, change the appearance and / or improve body odor or protect or nourish the body in good condition. In cosmetics can contain harmful active ingredients, one of them is heavy metal. In this study we tested the heavy metals content of mercury and cadmium on cosmetic samples sold in the online market using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) with wavelengths of 253,7 nm for mercury and 228,8 nm for cadmium. Result showed that from 10 cosmetic samples, there were no cosmetic products containing heavy metals mercury and cadmium above the predetermined maximum limit.

Abstract

The Snakehead fish contains high protein that was mostly used as a treatment during healing process in either invasive or passive surgery. Therefore, it could be developed as well as a mixture of wounds dressing for skin healing. The aim of this study was to know the effect of combination of concentrations between chitosan and collagen of Snakehead fish (Channa striata) skin and scales on fungal total number recovered from the composite. Snakehead fish skin and scales was treated by soaking in 2% HCl solvent for 48 hours to obtain collagen from its filtrate. Filtrate obtained continued to neutralize with 1 M NaOH until soluble collagen appeared. Collagen obtained in this study then mixed with 2% chitosan liquid to make wound dressing in various concentrations group. Combination of colagen mixture in this study were chitosan liquid only as control, 25% collagen-75% chitosan (C1), 50% collagen-50% chitosan (C2) and 75% collagen-25% chitosan (C3). The study results showed that on Control, C1 and C2 group there was no fungal contamination, but on C3 group there was contamination of fungal with total counting about 2,43 x 103 CFU. Based on statistically test showed that there was discrepancy for each group with p-value was 0,02 (p<0,05).
