Abstract

The tourism industry represents a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, positioning carbon offsetting as a crucial pathway toward sustainable transition. This study aims to map and synthesize the scholarly literature on carbon offsetting in Indonesia’s hospitality and tourism sector, examining the extent and configuration of sectoral participation in carbon offsetting and analyzing the regulatory, economic, operational, and market-related factors that enable or constrain the adoption and scaling of carbon offsetting across the sector aligning with national net-zero emission 2060 goals. Employing a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA 2020 protocols, 30 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed to ensure methodological rigor and replicability. The findings reveal that carbon offsetting practices are largely indirect and voluntary, focusing on reforestation, waste management, and energy efficiency rather than participation in verified carbon credit markets. While policy support and environmental awareness serve as key enablers, adoption remains limited by weak verification standards, insufficient technical capacity, high costs, and low consumer trust. The study concludes that a multi-level governance framework integrating transparent MRV systems, institutional strengthening, and stakeholder collaboration is essential to transform tourism’s potential into measurable contributions to Indonesia’s decarbonization agenda.

Abstract

Urban waste management is a major challenge in sustainable development, especially in cities with high consumption levels such as Denpasar. Generation Z as a demographic group that grows in the digital era has great potential in supporting waste management policies. This study aims to analyze the perception and participation of Gen-Z in waste management policies in the city of Denpasar and identify the factors that affect their involvement. A qualitative method with a phenomenological approach was used in this study, where primary data was obtained through structured interviews with 24 Gen-Z respondents  who were purposively selected through questionnaires on the https://bit.ly/PersepsiPartisipasiGenZ link, as well as semi-structured interviews with representatives of relevant government elements. Secondary data includes policy documents and reports related to waste management in Denpasar City. Data analysis was carried out using the analysis of the model of Miles and Huberman (1994) which included three main stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to identify the main themes related to perception and participation. The results show that attitudes towards policies, subjective norms, and perceptions of behavioral control play a significant role in encouraging or inhibiting Gen-Z's participation  in waste management. The majority of Gen-Z has a positive perception of the applicable waste management policies. This perception brings Gen-Z participation  to the level of acting together based on the theory of participation levels by Wilcox (1994), where environmental awareness, community support and information accessibility are supporting factors, while the lack of adequate waste management facilities, weak regulatory enforcement, a suboptimal waste transportation system, and bureaucratic flows that seem slow and convoluted are still factors inhibiting Gen-Z participation.

Abstract

This study examines the role of fashion innovativeness in fostering brand loyalty within the retail fashion sector, using Uniqlo as the case study. It aims to analyze how perceived quality, brand love, and customer satisfaction mediate the relationship between fashion innovativeness and brand loyalty. A quantitative approach with a causal-associative design was employed, and data were collected from 190 respondents in Bali through a structured questionnaire. The findings of this study indicate that Fashion Innovativeness has a positive and significant influence on Perceived Quality, Brand Love, Customer Satisfaction, and Brand Loyalty. Product innovation by Uniqlo, reflected in its modern design, high-quality materials, and casual yet trend-driven approach, enhances perceived quality and fosters positive emotional experiences among consumers. The results also demonstrate that Perceived Quality significantly affects Brand Loyalty, while Customer Satisfaction plays a crucial role in shaping Brand Love and customer loyalty. However, Brand Love does not fully mediate the relationship between fashion innovation and brand loyalty, suggesting that emotional attachment must be supported by consistent experiences and engaging loyalty programs to sustain long-term relationships. Mediation analysis further confirms that Perceived Quality and Customer Satisfaction serve as significant mediators linking fashion innovation to brand loyalty. Overall, this study emphasizes that consumer loyalty in the retail fashion industry is not solely driven by product innovation but also by satisfaction and perceived quality built through positive brand experiences.

Abstract

Considering that the level of tax compliance is important for the country as outlined above, research is needed that can provide solutions to reducing and even eliminating the gap between the ideal conditions of taxpayer compliance and the reality on the ground. This study uses a quantitative research design. The quantitative instrument used was in the form of a questionnaire distributed to prospective respondents. The data was analyzed using SmartPLS software with SEM (Structural Equation Modelling) analysis techniques. This study uses purposive sampling in the determination of samples. Typical case sampling is used in this study, namely, prospective respondents are taxpayers who come directly to the tax office to report their tax returns even though at the time of reporting their tax returns at the tax office, they still use digital tax services such as e-filling or e-form. The results of this study show that three of the four research variables used have a significant effect on taxpayer compliance. For future researchers, there is still a lot of room to continue research that explores other factors that affect the relationship between attitudes to behaviour, social norms and perception of behavioural control towards taxpayer compliance in the hope that the results can be used in efforts to improve tax compliance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Complaint Management System (CMS) on patient satisfaction with trust as a mediating variable at Tangguwisia Regional Hospital and Giri Emas Regional Hospital, both Class D government hospitals in Buleleng Regency, Bali. The issue addressed in this study is the suboptimal implementation of the CMS, which has the potential to reduce patient trust and satisfaction with hospital services. This study examines: (1) the direct effect of CMS on patient satisfaction, (2) the effect of CMS on patient trust, (3) the effect of trust on patient satisfaction, and (4) the mediating role of trust in the relationship between CMS and patient satisfaction. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design on 150 inpatients selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the SmartPLS 4 application. The results showed that CMS had a positive and significant effect on both patient satisfaction and patient trust. Trust also had a significant effect on patient satisfaction and was proven to partially mediate the relationship between CMS and patient satisfaction. These findings demonstrate that a responsive, transparent, and solution-oriented complaint management system not only directly improves patient satisfaction but also strengthens patient trust, ultimately enhancing overall satisfaction. Academically, this study adds to the literature by confirming the role of trust as a crucial mediating variable in the context of Class D government hospitals in Indonesia.
