Abstract

Introduction: Patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis often experience a decline in quality of life. This decline is due to challenges in accepting their condition, the physical and emotional impact of treatment, and significant lifestyle changes. Maintaining or improving quality of life is essential for these patients to manage their condition effectively and live well. Methods: This study employed a literature review design, adhering to the PRISMA checklist for study selection. The review utilized five journal databases: ScienceDirect, EBSCO, PubMed, Neliti, and Google Scholar, with keywords aligned with MeSH terms: "quality of life," "chronic renal failure," "determinants," and "hemodialysis." The inclusion criteria encompassed articles published between 2015 and 2024 in English or Indonesian. A total of 15 eligible articles were included in the analysis. Results: The literature review identified several factors influencing the quality of life in hemodialysis patients. These included demographic factors such as age, gender, and education; clinical aspects like hemodialysis duration, medication adherence, complications, and comorbidities; psychological factors such as depression; and social determinants like family support and income. Nutritional status and hemoglobin levels were also significant contributors. Conclusion: This study identified several factors affecting the quality of life of hemodialysis patients, including hemodialysis duration, medication adherence, age, gender, education, occupation, family support, nutritional status, depression, hemoglobin levels, and comorbidities. Future research should explore additional factors not covered in this review to understand better the most influential determinants of quality of life in patients with chronic kidney failure.

Abstract

Introduction: The Patient-Centered Care (PCC) model aims to improve the quality of healthcare services by upholding human dignity and recognizing each patient’s individuality, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, skin color, age, gender, political beliefs, religion, or social status. This study aimed to identify key factors influencing patient satisfaction with healthcare services based on PCC principles, specifically comparing patients with BPJS and non-BPJS payment statuses. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. A total of 315 respondents who had been hospitalized for more than 24 hours at Bunda Margonda Hospital were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the PPE-15 questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-square tests, and logistic regression. Results: Among BPJS patients, satisfaction was significantly influenced by gender (p = 0.029), marital status (p = 0.023), education (p = 0.020), and length of treatment (p = 0.025). In the non-BPJS group, age (p = 0.029) and marital status (p = 0.024) were significant factors. Logistic regression analysis revealed that length of stay was the most influential factor for BPJS patients (aOR = 2.3; p = 0.023), whereas marital status was the primary factor for non-BPJS patients (aOR = 1.3; p = 0.024).Conclusion: A shorter length of hospital stay is positively associated with higher satisfaction among BPJS patients, while marital status significantly influences satisfaction among non-BPJS patients. These findings highlight the need for tailored approaches in delivering patient-centered care based on payment status and demographic characteristics.

Abstract

Introduction: The success of pulmonary TB treatment remains low due to patients' lack of compliance with the treatment regimen. This study aims to determine factors related to treatment compliance among TB patients at the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the Raja Ampat Regional General Hospital. Methods: An observational research design with a cross-sectional study approach was employed, involving 125 tuberculosis patients receiving treatment at the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the Raja Ampat Regional General Hospital, selected through total sampling technique. Data collection utilized a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test), and multivariate (Binary Logistic Regression) analyses. Results: The majority of treatment-compliant TB patients among the 125 respondents were 74 (59.2%) in the compliant category. There was a significant relationship between age, education, knowledge, attitude, perception, motivation, and staff support with the level of treatment compliance. Good knowledge (AOR: 2.18; CI: 1.05-1.56; p 0.003) and high staff support (AOR: 1.27; CI: 1.11-1.68; p 0.006) increased TB patient treatment compliance. Conclusion: TB patient treatment compliance is still below the established standards. Knowledge and staff support enhance better treatment compliance, emphasizing the importance of education and improving service access, such as health worker visits to TB patients' homes.
