Abstract

This study investigated of code-crossing and hierarchical politeness in 15th-century English royal courts, as depicted in the film The King (2019) by using asymmetrical communication or code-crossing by Wadji, the concept of code-crossing as language choice reflecting social status, privilege, and identity influenced by social rules, and strategy politeness by Brown & Levinson, which encompasses bald on record, negative politeness, positive politeness, and off-record strategies. This research aims to analyze how these linguistic phenomena manifest within the film's social dynamics. Employing a descriptive-qualitative research method with thematical analysis, which focuses on describing and explaining topics. The data is obtained from the dialogue in the movie script explore how social status and age influence language use. The result show lower and middle class (inferior) prefer to address the upper class (superior) in high code as a sign of respect whereas the upper class frequently use low code, furthermore the result of hierarchical politeness reveal that bald on record and negative politeness strategies are mostly used. These results underscore how communication practices are shaped by social hierarchies, consistent with the continued relevance of politeness in social interactions. This research contributes to the field of sociolinguistics by empirically demonstrating the interplay of code-crossing and politeness theory in historical film context.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the yield responses of red chili to three agricultural buildings (greenhouse, screenhouse, open field), four nutrient solution volumes (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% ETc) and two cultivars (Pilar and Osaka). This is the first study to assess the combined effects of agricultural buinding type, nutrient volume based on ETc, and two red chili cultivars (Pilar and Osaka) using a split-splt plot design under tropical-dry season conditions. The experiment was conducted from August 2024 to February 2025 at Padjadjaran University, Indonesia, using a split-split plot design with 24 treatment combinations and three replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and DMRT at the 5% level. The results showed no interaction among three factors but each had a significant individual effect. Greenhouse conditions significantly increase the number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, individual fruit weight and fruit length. Nutrient volume of 75% ETc and 100% ETc produced comparable result for fruit number and fruit weight per plant. The Pilar cultivar outperformed Osaka in fruit weight and diameter. These findings suggest that greenhouse cultivation with 75% ETc and Pilar cultivar enhance yield and supporting sustainable chili production in tropical regions.

Abstract

Ramadan is a month synonymous with togetherness. Among the activities that foster togetherness is breaking the fast together. Breaking the fast together has become one of the deep traditions in our culture. In an effort to increase social awareness and share with others, we carried out a community service initiative by holding iftar activities together at Aisyiyah Payakumbuh Orphanage. This service aims to analyze the impact of breaking the fast together on the welfare of the orphanage children. The methods used are participatory observation and interviews. The results of the service showed that this breakfasting activity had a significant impact on the social welfare of children in the orphanage, both in terms of emotional and psychological. Participation in this activity increases a sense of togetherness and happiness and provides valuable social experiences for children living in orphanages.

Abstract

Tahfiz Al-Qur'an is an effort to maintain, memorize, maintain and preserve the Qur'an revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Islamic boarding schools that are mushrooming in Indonesia will be incomplete without this activity. Even in non-boarding schools, Qur'anic tahfiz is one of the extracurriculars. This shows how much attention Muslims pay in memorizing the Qur'an. To  test and improve the quality of memorization of the Qur'an, it is necessary to hold a Qur'an tahfiz competition. This journal discusses the Qur'an tahfiz competition as a place to improve the quality of memorization. The method used is observation. The results showed that the Qur'an tahfiz competition can spur the enthusiasm of Qur'an memorizers, train competitive spirits and establish ukhuwah Islamiyah among fellow Qur'an memorizers.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) adalah virus yang menyerang sistem kekebalan tubuh dan jika tidak ditangani dapat berkembang menjadi Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), yaitu tahap akhir infeksi HIV yang ditandai dengan menurunnya kemampuan tubuh melawan infeksi. Berdasarkan laporan UNAIDS (2023), sebanyak sekitar 39,9 juta orang di dunia hidup dengan HIV, terjadi penambahan sekitar 1,3 juta kasus baru setiap tahunnya. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari Kemenkes RI pada tahun 2024 tercatat 503.261 kasus HIV, dan sebanyak 47.687 kasus merupakan remaja usia 15–24 tahun. Di Jawa Barat, kasus HIV mencapai 62.298. Terdapat 141 kasus HIV/AIDS di Ciamis pada tahun 2024, jumlah ini mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 45 kasus dari tahun 2023. Angka ini menunjukkan bahwa remaja menjadi kelompok yang rentan terhadap penularan HIV/AIDS. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran remaja terhadap bahaya HIV/AIDS melalui edukasi yang informatif dan interaktif. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMK Pasundan Kawali, Kabupaten Ciamis. Metode penyuluhan dilakukan secara ceramah menggunakan media audiovisual. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan secara signifikan, sebelum penyuluhan terdapat 66% siswa berpengetahuan kurang dan 34% siswa berpengetahuan cukup, setelah penyuluhan terjadi peningkatan 89% pengetahuan siswa baik dan 11% berpengetahuan cukup. Peserta menunjukkan minat tinggi dalam diskusi dan tanya jawab. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa penyuluhan yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan interaktif dan media yang menarik efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman remaja mengenai bahaya HIV/AIDS. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah awal dalam membangun kesadaran dan perilaku sehat sejak remaja, dan dilakukan secara berkala sebagai upaya promotif dan preventif terhadap penularan HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

Dental and oral health care for the elderly is an important aspect in improving their quality of life. According to the 2018 Riskesdas report, the largest proportion of dental problems in Indonesia is tooth decay/cavities/pain (45.3%). Meanwhile, the prevalence of dental caries in Indonesia is 88.8% with the prevalence of root caries at 56.6% (Riskesdas, 2018). The goal of community service is to carry out : Community Empowerment to Improve the Quality of Life of the Elderly at the Social Welfare Home for the Elderly “Budi Sejahtera II” Through Dental and Oral Health Care in Sungai Paring Village, Martapura. The total number of residents is 70 elderly people located at the Social Welfare Home for the Elderly “Budi Sejahtera II” Martapura, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province. In this community service, the respondents are 30 elderly individuals (25 elderly and 5 staff members from the home). The results obtained show that there are 6 respondents (24.0%) with ≥ 10 teeth, 11 respondents (44.0%) with 6-10 teeth, and 8 respondents (32.0%) with ≤ 6 teeth. Meanwhile, there are 16 respondents (64.0%) without caries and 9 respondents (36.0%) with no caries or who have lost their teeth (edentulous). It is recommended to have dental care by getting dental fillings either at the nearest community health centre or hospital. Providing education and examining the dental and oral hygiene of the elderly through integrated health services and mobile health centres can be an effort for early detection and prevention of dental and oral health problems. This can help reduce the incidence of dental pain and tooth loss among the elderly. Keywords : Community Empowerment - Dental Caries – Elderly

Abstract

Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, muncul konsep-konsep mengenai “arsitektur penyembuhan” atau dengan kata lain adalah arsitektur yang bersifat “terapeutik”. Salah satu elemen arsitektur yang dipercaya dapat membantu unsur terapeutik adalah warna, terutama untuk interior. Makalah ini merupakan deskripsi penulis untuk mengumpulkan desain bangunan maupun desain interior yang menggunakan warna sebagai unsur terapeutik. Melalui pencarian pustaka yang ditelusuri melalui internet, penulis mengelompokkan tipe-tipe desain dalam golongan yang diklasifikan berdasarkan tema-tema tertentu. Hasil pengelompokkan tersebut, memberikan gambaran bagi penulis terhadap adanya kesimpulan mengenai warna sebagai unsur terapeutik yaitu: 1) terdapat spektrum warna yang harus diperhatikan ketika memilih warna karena tiap penyakit berbeda warna; 2) spektrum warna yang berbeda berdasarkan golongan usia; 3) warna yang sama namun berbeda nomer palet warna, dapat berdampak terhadap mood seseorang dalam kondisi tertentu.

Abstract

Keterlambatan pada tumbuh kembang anak saat ini masih menjadi masalah serius baik di negara maju maupun berkembang di seluruh dunia. Keterlambatan ini dapat didukung dengan pemahaman tentang sensoris dan motorik. Tujuanya adalah agar setelah di lakukan sosialisasi ini orang tua dapat memahami pentingnya melatih peningkatkan kemampuan sensoris dan motorik terhadap anak. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada hari Minggu, 5 Mei 2024 dengan 18 responden ibu-ibu kp Selang Bulak RT 002 RW 001 Ds Wanajaya Kec Cibitung Bekasi yang memiliki anak pada usia dini. Metode kegiatan yang digunakan dalam presentasi mengenai pengetahuan sensoris dan motorik. Memanfaatkan media leaflet, dan tanya jawab. Penyebaran pretest dan posttest. Hasil nya dari 18 responden yang memiliki pengetahuan kurang tentang pengetahuan sensoris dan motorik anak yaitu dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 51,11 %, dan setelah dilakukan penyuluhan dari 18 responden mengalami perubahan nilai pengetahuan responden naik menjadi 86,94 % (Pengetahuan Baik), Berdasarkan hasil dari pretes dan posttest tersebut ada peningkatan pengetahuan dari responden yaitu sebesar 35,83 %. Hasil luaran dari pengabdian kepada Masyarakat berupa Manuskrip yang dipublikasikan pada Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Nusantara (JPkMN). Pengabdian ini dilakukan guna meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu akan pentingnya sensoris dan motorik anak sehingga tumbuh kembang anak dapat berjalan dengan semestinya.

Abstract

This study departs from a conceptual issue regarding the relationship between Social Sciences and Social Studies (IPS), which is often still vaguely understood. Social Sciences as an academic discipline has broad branches, such as sociology, economics, history, geography, anthropology, politics, and social psychology, while IPS is present as a form of implementation of these branches of science in primary and secondary education. Through a literature review using the SPAR-4-SLR approach, this study not only collects and summarizes relevant sources but also analyzes the contribution of each Social Science discipline to Social Studies material, while highlighting the role of society as both a source and a real-world laboratory for learning. The results of the study show that Social Sciences and Social Studies have a hierarchical and functional relationship. Social Sciences provide the theoretical framework, concepts, and scientific methods, while Social Studies simplifies and contextualizes them to suit the developmental level of students. This shows that Social Studies cannot be separated from the roots of Social Sciences, while Social Sciences find their relevance through application in Social Studies. Furthermore, IPS learning is not merely a transfer of knowledge, but also plays an important role in shaping students' critical attitudes, social skills, and civic character. Thus, this study confirms that the relationship between Social Sciences and IPS is not only important to understand theoretically, but must also be used as a basis for developing an IPS curriculum that is more contextual, responsive to scientific developments, and in line with the dynamics of contemporary society. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berangkat dari persoalan konseptual mengenai hubungan antara Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial (IPS) yang seringkali masih dipahami secara kabur. Ilmu Sosial sebagai disiplin akademik memiliki cabang yang luas, seperti sosiologi, ekonomi, sejarah, geografi, antropologi, politik, dan psikologi sosial, sementara IPS hadir sebagai bentuk implementasi dari cabang-cabang ilmu tersebut dalam ranah pendidikan dasar maupun menengah. Melalui metode literature review dengan pendekatan SPAR-4-SLR, penelitian ini tidak hanya mengumpulkan dan merangkum sumber relevan, tetapi juga menganalisis kontribusi tiap disiplin Ilmu Sosial terhadap materi IPS, sekaligus menyoroti peran masyarakat sebagai sumber sekaligus laboratorium nyata pembelajaran. Hasil kajian memperlihatkan bahwa Ilmu Sosial dan IPS memiliki hubungan yang hierarkis sekaligus fungsional. Ilmu Sosial menjadi penyedia kerangka teori, konsep, dan metode ilmiah, sedangkan IPS menyederhanakan serta mengontekstualisasikannya agar sesuai dengan tingkat perkembangan peserta didik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa IPS tidak dapat dilepaskan dari akar Ilmu Sosial, sementara Ilmu Sosial menemukan relevansinya melalui penerapan di IPS. Selain itu, pembelajaran IPS tidak hanya sekadar transfer pengetahuan, tetapi juga berperan penting dalam membentuk sikap kritis, keterampilan sosial, dan karakter kewargaan peserta didik. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa relasi antara Ilmu Sosial dan IPS tidak hanya penting dipahami secara teoretis, tetapi juga harus dijadikan pijakan dalam mengembangkan kurikulum IPS yang lebih kontekstual, responsif terhadap perkembangan ilmu, serta selaras dengan dinamika masyarakat kontemporer.

Abstract

This research uses a case study methodology to examine the social interactions of early adult women raised in single-parent households where the father figure has been absent since childhood. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and field notes. The study reveals that the informants had strong attachments to their fathers and experienced deep grief upon their fathers' deaths, which led to social withdrawal and reluctance to engage with the opposite sex. The absence of a father figure significantly impacted the informants' social development, particularly in forming relationships with the opposite sex. Informants expressed feelings of loss and were reluctant to open up to others, especially men, due to their grief and a sense of abandonment. Despite these challenges, the informants eventually adapted by accepting the reality of their father’s death, finding comfort in spiritual growth and learning to accept themselves. This study highlights the long-lasting effects of father absence on social behaviors, particularly in early adulthood, and how these individuals navigate their relationships with others.
