Abstract

Stunting is still a serious public health problem in Indonesia that has an impact not only on linear growth but also on clind development. Stunting will affect physical performance and mental and cognitive functions will be disrupted. The children are left behind in many areas of child development including; social personality, fine motor, language, and gross motor. This study purposes to determine the relationship between stunting and children’s development. This study used a quantitative method using a cross sectional approach. The study respondents were 190 toddlers obtained by consentive sampling techniques that fit the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection instrument used anthropmetric measurements and the Denver II questionnaire (DDST) is highly sensitive. Analysis of bivariate data using Kendall's Tau test. The results of the study were mostly male stunting toddlers (62.3%), the average age was 31.42 months. The results showed 53 stunting toddlers (100.0%) with normal development of 2 toddlers (3.8%), and suspected or suspected 50 toddlers (96.2%). The results of Kendall's Tau test reveal that there is a relationship between stunting and toddler development with p value =0.000 (p <0.05). Conclusion of stunting has relationship to the development of toddlers in Kemudo Village.

Abstract

Inability of pregnant adolescents to make decisions regarding antenatal care and the choice of birth attendants increases the risk of maternal and childbirth complications. This study aimed to develop and validate an empowerment measurement instrument based on the Cattaneo and Chapman framework. A quantitative approach was applied in three community health centers (Puskesmas) in Cimahi City, known for high adolescent pregnancy rates. Data were collected by three community volunteers who distributed questionnaires directly and via Google Forms. Instrument validity was examined through a readability test with 10 adolescents and face validity by four experts. Thirty pregnant adolescents participated. Reliability was tested using Cronbach’s alpha. The empowerment construct produced 40 statements; the Item-Total Correlation test revealed one invalid self-efficacy item, two knowledge items, two skill items, one action item, and three impact items. The overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.92, with subscales: meaningful goals (0.84), self-efficacy (0.58), knowledge (0.70), skills (0.52), action (0.77), and impact (0.83). This study concludes that the empowerment instrument is valid and reliable, and further research is recommended to revalidate it through content validity and factor analysis with larger samples

Abstract

This study aims to explore the need for virtual laboratory media (V-Lab) that integrates differentiated learning using the STEAM approach for electroplating and electropolishing. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive, with the research subjects comprising 3 teachers and 75 students from two public senior high schools and one vocational high school in Metro City, Lampung. Data collection used questionnaires, learning observations, and interviews. The results of the observations show that chemistry learning is still dominated by lectures and exercises (40%), while limited equipment, materials, and costs, as well as the risk of hazardous waste, continue to limit practical activities. Students experience significant difficulties in visualizing sub-microscopic phenomena, especially in determining ion flow (74%) and reactions at the anode-cathode (62%), resulting in a low ability to calculate Faraday's Law (60%). Cognitive data analysis shows a diversity of student abilities, with the majority being at the "need guidance" level (41%). These findings underscore the need for innovative learning media, with 100% of teachers and 77% of students agreeing with the development of V-Lab integrated with differentiated learning and the STEAM approach. V-Labs are expected to transform abstract concepts into concrete ones, increase motivation, and accelerate the learning pace of diverse students without the physical risks of a laboratory setting.

Abstract

Most of the area in Jabung Village, Pelupuh, Sragen is paddy fields, with most of the population's livelihood being farm workers and convection business. However, during the Pandemic, the convection business was sluggish and slumped. This makes the people of Jabung village need other alternative businesses to increase their income. The amount of agricultural land in Jabung village, which produces rice husk waste, can be an alternative for new businesses for the community. Based on the research results of the Research Group (RG) at the Chemistry Education Study Program, UNS, rice husks can be made as activated charcoal, which is used to purify used cooking oil. The purified cooking oil can be used to make biodiesel, soap and aromatherapy candles. Therefore, the community service team of the Chemistry Education Study Program has provided training on the manufacture of activated charcoal from rice husks and its use for purifying used cooking oil as a provision for business in Jabung Village. Attended by 60 participants, this training focused on three main activities; educating the community about the process of absorption by activated charcoal, purifying used cooking oil using activated charcoal from rice husks, and marketing processed products from used cooking oil and activated charcoal. The results of the evaluation of this training, as many as 36.73% of participants strongly agree, and 53.06% agree that the community gets direct benefits from training activities on making activated charcoal from rice husks and its use for cleaning used cooking oil.
