Abstract

Abstract

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number two aims to create a healthy and productive society free from hunger. According to SDG data, the stunting rate among children under five decreased from 24.4% in 2021 to 21.6% in 2022. However, disparities remain across provinces, and national targets have not yet been achieved. Stunting is characterized by a Z-score less than -2 SD (moderate) and less than -3 SD (severe). One of the main obstacles to achieving this goal is the prevalence of malnutrition among children under five, which is a major factor contributing to stunting (1). This study aims to explore mothers' perceptions using the Health Belief Model (HBM) regarding exclusive breastfeeding in preventing. The research method is analytical, using a cross-sectional design with a Chi-Square test to analyze the influence between variables. The population consists of all mothers with toddlers, with a total of 149 visits recorded in the past year. A sample of 60 mothers was selected. Primary data were collected using questionnaires, and secondary data were obtained through interviews. The results showed that most respondents were aged 31–40 years (66.7%), had a high school education (66.7%), and were housewives (91.7%). There was a statistically significant relationship between perceived susceptibility (p=0.009) and perceived severity (p=0.024) with the practice of exclusive breastfeeding in preventing stunting. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between mothers' perceptions of susceptibility and severity. Educational interventions should focus on enhancing mothers’ positive perceptions of the importance of exclusive breastfeeding

Abstract

Background: Adolescent mental health and risky behaviors, including the KRR TRIAD (Risky Sexual Behavior, Drug Abuse, and HIV/AIDS), remain significant public health challenges in Indonesia that contribute to school dropout rates. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of PENA (Education and Animation)-based psychoeducation in improving knowledge and behavior related to mental health, TRIAD KRR, and dropout prevention. Methods: This quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group followed the TREND (Transparent Reporting of Evaluations with Nonrandomized Designs) reporting guideline. A sample of 124 students was selected using a simple random sampling technique. The intervention group received PENA-based psychoeducation for a duration of 4 weeks (two sessions per week), while the control group received leaflets. Data were collected using a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The intervention group showed a significant increase in knowledge (Median 80, IQR: 75–85) compared to the control group (Median 45, IQR: 40–50) with $p = 0.015$. Furthermore, the intervention group demonstrated better behavior in preventing TRIAD KRR and school dropout with p < 0.001. Conclusion: PENA-based psychoeducation is more effective than traditional leaflets in improving knowledge and fostering positive behavioral changes among adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding significantly increases the risk of infectious diseases in infants, particularly diarrhea, which can increase up to 30-fold. Globally, exclusive breastfeeding rates remain below established targets, including in Indonesia. In Aceh Province, exclusive breastfeeding coverage has not yet reached the national target of 80%. Various factors influence breastfeeding success, one of which is father involvement, which is currently considered the strongest external variable. Emotional and instrumental support from fathers has been shown to help regulate oxytocin levels and increase mothers' confidence in breastfeeding. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between father involvement and the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Method: This study used a quantitative method with a correlational design through a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted from February to June 2025 in Pante Raya Village, Wih Pesam District. The study population was mothers with infants aged 7–12 months, with a purposive sampling technique of 30 respondents. The research instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire to measure paternal involvement and an interview with infant feeding history to assess the success of exclusive breastfeeding. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test with a 95% confidence level (p value = 0.05). Results: Univariate analysis results showed that the majority of fathers had good levels of involvement (73.3%) and most mothers were successful in providing exclusive breastfeeding (80.0%). Bivariate analysis showed that good paternal involvement was followed by a high level of exclusive breastfeeding success (95%). Chi-square test results showed a p value of 0.002 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between father involvement and the success of exclusive breastfeeding in Pante Raya Village. Fathers' support is a crucial factor in increasing the success of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Rupture of the perineum is one of the common complications in vaginal delivery that can increase the risk of postpartum hemorrhage, infection, and maternal death. One of the factors that contribute to the occurrence of perineal rupture is the baby's birth weight. Babies with a birth weight of ≥4000 grams can cause greater pressure on the mother's birth canal, increasing the likelihood of tearing of perineal tissue. In Indonesia, 75% of mothers who give birth vaginally experience perineal lacerations, and postpartum bleeding is still the leading cause of 40% of maternal deaths. This study aims to determine the relationship between infant birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture in normal childbirth at the Lusi Marbun Independent Midwife Practice, Simalungun Regency in 2022.This study uses an observational analytical design with a case control approach. A sample of 30 maternity mothers was selected using the total sampling method. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the relationship between birth weight and perineal rupture. The results showed that the majority of babies had a birth weight of <4000 grams (63.3%) and the majority of mothers experienced a second degree perineal rupture (70%). The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture (p-value = 0.000). There is a significant relationship between birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture. The greater the baby's weight, the higher the risk of perineal rupture in the mother during childbirth. It is important for health workers to carry out early detection of fetal weight, provide nutrition education during pregnancy, and prepare for the delivery process optimally to minimize the risk of complications.

Abstract

Mother-to-child transmission of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B remains a public health challenge. Transmission can occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. To reduce the rate of transmission, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia launched the Triple Elimination program through screening pregnant women in integrated antenatal services. However, the use of this examination is influenced by the behavior of pregnant women, including knowledge, attitudes, and actions. To find out the relationship between the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of pregnant women with the use of Triple Elimination examinations at the Kuala Bangka Health Center, North Labuhan Batu Regency in 2022. This study is an analytical observational study with a cross sectional design. The sample consisted of 35 pregnant women who visited the Kuala Bangka Health Center. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Most of the respondents had good knowledge (45.7%), positive attitudes (74.3%), and good actions (45.7%). There was a significant relationship between knowledge (p=0.007), attitudes (p=0.003), and actions (p=0.007) with the use of Triple Elimination examinations. Knowledge, attitudes, and actions of pregnant women have a significant relationship with the use of Triple Elimination examinations. Increased education and support in antenatal services is needed to support the success of the mother-to-child elimination program of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is an infectious disease that has a serious impact on the immune system and is at high risk in pregnant women. Mother-to-baby transmission of HIV can occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. HIV screening in pregnant women is important for the prevention of vertical transmission. However, the utilization rate of this test is still low, one of which is due to the lack of knowledge of pregnant women about HIV/AIDS. This study aims to determine the relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about HIV and the use of HIV testing at the Bintang Health Center, Central Aceh Regency in 2022. This study uses an analytical observational design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 40 pregnant women who were selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of pregnant women had sufficient knowledge about HIV/AIDS (40%) and most did not do HIV screening (55%). There was a significant relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about HIV and the use of HIV screening (p-value = 0.0001). There is a significant relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about HIV-AIDS and the use of HIV screening by pregnant women at the Bintang Health Center, Central Aceh Regency. Intervention efforts in the form of education and counseling are needed to increase the knowledge of pregnant women to encourage routine HIV testing in an effort to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological process that is accompanied by various changes, including hormonal changes that can cause nausea and vomiting (emesis gravidarum). One of the non-pharmacological interventions that can be used to manage these symptoms is acupressure therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of acupressure therapy on reducing symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women in the first trimester at the Kuala Bangka Health Center, North Labuhan Batu Regency in 2022. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a pre-post one group design approach. The sample consisted of 20 pregnant women in the first trimester who experienced symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum. The acupressure intervention was carried out for 3 days at PC6 and ST36 points. Measurements of nausea and vomiting levels were carried out before and after the intervention using a standard measurement scale. The results of the analysis showed that there was a decrease in the average rate of nausea and vomiting by 0.90000 after acupressure therapy was performed. The paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a calculated t-value of 7.285 > table 1.729, which means that there is a significant effect of acupressure therapy on reducing the symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum. Acupressure therapy is effective in reducing the rate of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the first trimester.
