<![CDATA[Insulin resistance plays a crucial role in maternal metabolic adaptation during pregnancy. Underweight pregnant women have metabolic conditions potentially affecting insulin sensitivity and glucose homeostasis. The Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) quantitatively measures fasting glucose and insulin levels, providing insights into metabolic health during pregnancy. This study aims to determine the differences in HOMA-IR between underweight and normal-weight pregnant women. The research employs a case design with a quantitative approach, using non-probability sampling techniques including quota and purposive sampling. The total sample comprises 24 participants, divided into 12 underweight pregnant women and 12 normal-weight pregnant women. Statistical analysis shows significant differences between groups: glucose levels (p <0.001), insulin levels (p = 0.018), and HOMA-IR values (p <0.001), all indicating significant findings (p <0.05). The study found differences in glucose and insulin levels between the two groups. Insulin and glucose levels tended to be higher in underweight pregnant women, indicating insulin resistance involvement with higher HOMA-IR levels compared to normal-weight pregnant women. This study can serve as a basis for understanding the patho-mechanism in underweight pregnant women. ]]>

<![CDATA[The nutrients in the food consumed play a role in determining a person's condition and nutritional status. This research aims to determine the description and relationship between the level of maternal nutritional knowledge and the feeding patterns of mothers who have stunted toddlers in Desa Sumorame Candi Sidoarjo. This research method is analytical observational with a cross sectional approach. The research subjects were 40 mothers of stunted toddlers in Sumorame Candi Sidoarjo Village. Data collection used a questionnaire with guided interviews. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test (significance ?<0.05). Data shows the percentage of mothers with high levels of knowledge about nutrition (5%), medium (27.5%), and low (67.5%) while mothers with appropriate (47.5%) and inappropriate feeding patterns (52, 5%). The chi-square statistical test results showed a relationship between the mother's level of knowledge and toddler feeding patterns (p=0.027). The research concludes that the mother's level of knowledge about nutrition influences the mother's feeding pattern for her toddler.]]>

<![CDATA[Design, taste, marketing and perceptions of safety from e-cigarettes have increased the appeal of e-cigarettes to young people around the world so that their use continues to increase. This is one of the threats in efforts to reduce the prevalence of smokers aged 10-18 years in Indonesia. Electric cigarettes cause oxidative stress while the brain is vulnerable to oxidative stress because it requires large amounts of oxygen. This experimental study with a posttest only control design aimed to determine changes in histological structure and number of male Wistar rat cerebellum Purkinje cells after exposure to electric cigarettes. This study used a sample of 32 male wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) which were divided into 4 treatment groups: group A (without treatment), group B (put in an exposure cage), group C (given exposure to electric cigarettes 15 times in a cage exposure), and group D (given exposure to e-cigarettes 30 times in the exposure cage). Exposure to e-cigarettes was given for 50 days, then sacrificed and samples were made with Hematoxylin Eosyn (HE) staining. The results showed that the number of cerebellar purkinje cells in male Wistar rats exposed to electric cigarettes decreased significantly and there was a significant difference in the number of cells between 15 and 30 exposures and karyolysis occurred in the cells. E-cigarettes cause core damage and decrease in the number of Purkinje cells in the cerebellum of male wistar rats.]]>

<![CDATA[Hadirnya perempuan di dunia terja terbukti dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan anggota keluarga. Bahkan bagi negara sumbangan kerja perempuan di ruang publik meningkatkan kemakmuran. Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) mencatat, sebanyak 52,74 juta pekerja perempuan di Indonesia pada 2022. Pekerja Perempuan yang bekerja di sektor in-formal menjadi pilihan yang fleksibel secara waktu. Hal ini yang menjadi pilihan para ibu Rumah Tangga penderita ODHA untuk bekerja sehingga masuk dalam kategori UMKM. Peluang ini berlaku bagi usaha UMKM dalam meningkatkan pemasarannya di platform Shopee. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk mengkaji dampak pelatihan pemasaran e-commerce shopee untuk usaha ibu rumah tangga pendertia ODHA di Kawasan Surabaya Barat. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara terstruktur secara langsung dengan metode pre-test dan post-test. Semua infroman belum pernah memasarkan produknya di e-commerce Shopee. kesimpulan ada dua. Pertama, adanya peningkatan pengetahuan e-commerce sebesar 37%. Kedua, adanya peningkatan keterampilan menggunakan platform Shopee sebesar 30%. Hal ini berdampak makin lebarnya wilayah pemasaran pemilik UMKM. ]]>

<![CDATA[There has been an increase in dengue cases (in 2022) with a total of 1,135 deaths, of which 73% were children aged 0-14 years, so the government is trying to eradicate dengue with a target of zero deaths by 2024. Temephos is reported to be resistant and another plant that has a larvicidal effect is the leaves of Citrus hystrix DC. This study aims to compare the histological features of the midgut larvae of Ae. aegypti round cut due to the effect of temephos and ethanol extract of C. hystrix leaves. Research method Post test only control group design. Samples of Ae. aegypti third instars were given C. hystrix leaf ethanol extract doses of 80 ppm, 400 ppm, 1500 ppm (LC 50%), distilled water (positive control) and temephos (negative control). At each given dose, there are 3 replications. After that, histopathological preparations were made and the epithelial length was measured (round body cross section). The results of the Mann Whitney test between the 1500 ppm dose group and the temephos group were p = 0.268 > 0.5. So it was concluded that there was no difference in the histological appearance of the midgut of Ae. aegypti round pieces due to the influence of temephos and ethanol extract of C. hystrix leaves at a dose of 1,500 ppm. Methanol extract of C. hystrix leaves causes changes in the histological appearance of the midgut of Ae. aegypti round pieces which increased with increasing concentration of the extract.]]>

<![CDATA[Fish as natural predators of mosquito larvae is a way of controlling mosquito larvae biologically that does not pose a risk to the health of organisms and environmental damage and overcoming the problem of mosquito resistance to chemical larvacide. One fish tested in the study was the rosy barb (Pethia conchonius) and lemon cichlid (Labidochromis caeruleus). Objectives: To analyzed  a difference in the predation ability of male and female fish to the larvae. Methods: This was an experimental study in the laboratory with a post-test-only design and five replications. One aquarium contains one liter of water, one fish, and 25 larvae of Ae. aegypti. Fish testing starts in the afternoon at 15.00 WIB. Observation the predation time of the fish until the fish eat all the larvae. Results: The average predation time of male P. conchonius fish was 1.57 minutes, and the female was 76.05 minutes. The average predation time of male L. caeruleus fish was 36.72 minutes and for females, 22.08 minutes. There was a significant difference between the predation of the male and female P. conchonius fish groups. There was no significant difference between the predation of male and female L. caeruleus fish groups to Ae. aegypti larvae. Conclusion: Rosy barb (P. conchonius) and lemon cichlid (L. caeruleus) have the potential to control the larval population of the Ae. aegypti mosquito. <![CDATA[Teachers' and students' understanding of the molecular structure of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is important because it is a fundamental concept that explains the pathogenesis of disease and mutations in cell biology learning. This activity aims to improve Biology teachers' understanding of the molecular structure of DNA. The activity was conducted at SMAN 1 Bululawang Malang, with 39 Biology teachers who were members of Malang's Biology Subject Teachers' Community (MGMP) as participants. The methods used included interactive lectures, group discussions, and case studies on sickle cell anemia. The resources utilized for the community service included laptops connected to Wi-Fi, Google Forms for pre-test and post-test applications, PowerPoint slides for the materials, patient scenario PPT, and laptops. Evaluation was carried out with pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement in participants' understanding. The evaluation results showed that participants gave positive feedback regarding the activity. They felt that there was an application of the chemical structure of DNA bands to the shape of DNA, the bioprocess of protein synthesis, and the pathogenesis of sickle cell anemia. A significant increase in conceptual understanding was observed, with an average pre-test score of 67.69 and an average post-test score of 92.05. The five teachers who obtained the highest scores received prizes in the form of medical biology books, which were authored by us. Similar programs are recommended for implementation in other areas to support the improvement of education quality in Indonesia and benefit students who will pursue medical courses.]]>

<![CDATA[Physical and mental changes in the elderly can have an impact on the health of the elderly. Dementia is one of the main health problems experienced by the elderly, characterized by decreased cognitive function that impacts quality of life and independence. Lack of public understanding of early detection, treatment, and prevention of dementia increases the risk of delayed treatment and worsens the condition of the elderly. This community service aims to increase knowledge and awareness of dementia through interactive seminars for the elderly and their families at GKI Sepanjang Sidoarjo. The results of the interactive seminar showed that the percentage of correct answers in the post-test increased by 13.14% from the pre-test. As many as five out of 10 questions with correct answers amounted to more than 50% of the total respondents. Judging from the answers obtained, program participants were not familiar with examples of cognitive functions and the definition of Hoarding Syndrome. At the end of this activity, there was an increase in participants' understanding of improving the health of the elderly, but there were still questions that participants could not answer. In conclusion, this activity succeeded in increasing health literacy related to dementia among the elderly and their families at GKI Sepanjang Sidoarjo, but other educational methods or media are needed to further increase the knowledge of the elderly regarding dementia.]]>

<![CDATA[Mahasiswa kedokteran tidak hanya belajar prinsip-prinsip ilmiah tetapi juga membangun keterampilan penalaran, penyusunan, dan penyampaian konsep yang jelas mengenai fakta-fakta relevan. Mereka diharapkan memiliki kemampuan berpikir yang berkembang dengan cepat, terutama mengingat dinamika bidang kedokteran yang terus berubah dan meluas. Selain itu mahasiswa semester satu kedokteran, akan menghadapi perubahan besar dalam cara pengajaran dari pedagogik ke andragogik. Transisi ini memerlukan proses adaptasi. Oleh karena itu, penting bagi mahasiswa untuk mengadopsi self-regulated learning (SRL), di mana mereka mengelola proses belajar mereka sendiri dengan efektif untuk menghadapi tuntutan kurikulum yang intens dan kompleks di bidang kedokteran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran faktor-faktor pengaturan diri mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Ciputra (FKUC) semester satu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif observational dengan jumlah sampel 37 orang mahasiswa FKUC semester satu. Penelitian menggunakan kuesioner self assessment study strategy LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory), yang dikerjakan secara daring melalui tautan khusus. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa 48,6 % mahasiswa FKUC semester satu memiliki skor regulasi diri < 50, sebanyak 39,2 % mahasiswa memiliki skor 50-75, dan 12,2 % mahaiswa memiliki skor > 75. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa FKUC semester satu dan dibantu oleh institusi wajib mengembangkan keterampilan regulasi dirinya agar dapat mencapai potensi akademik yang optimal.]]>
