Abstract

This community service program aims to empower educators in Gayo Lues through improving digital literacy and utilizing local culture-based virtual tour technology. This program replicates the Langsa Multicultural Heritage Virtual Tour, an innovative learning tool previously developed through a research program. Based on the mapping of current conditions, the primary target group was 18 teachers from the Sekulen Private Elementary School. The educators were accompanied by 30 students from the Period II Community Service Program at Samudra University, who served as mentors. The method applied was a Participatory Action Research (PAR) Framework combined with Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD). This method involved participatory mapping to assess current conditions, collaborative workshops, co-creation of digital content, and classroom mentoring for implementation. As a result, technical skills, such as producing 360° photos as a basic element of virtual tours and developing them in Google Sites, can be mastered by teachers with the available resources. In addition, there was a significant increase in teachers' digital literacy scores from an average of 45.0 to 78.2 or 74%. The program's outputs include the Gayo Lues Heritage Virtual Tour platform, digital lesson plan modules, and improved teacher capacity for technology integration in learning. This activity has provided digital-based teaching materials that can be used in the classroom as well as the potential to help other sectors such as tourism and cultural heritage preservation.

Abstract

Learning media play an important role in creating meaningful and interactive learning experiences. However, the implementation of IPAS learning on buying and selling activities in Grade IV elementary schools is still dominated by conventional teaching methods, resulting in low student engagement. This study aimed to develop Reviali (Visual Representation of Buying and Selling), an instructional media integrated with the Role Playing learning model, to determine its validity and practicality. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the Four-D (4-D) model consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate stages. The research subjects were fourth-grade students of MIN 1 Langsa. Data were collected through observation, interviews, validation questionnaires from material and media experts, teacher response questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative techniques. The findings indicate that the developed Reviali learning media met the valid criteria based on expert validation and the practical criteria based on teacher and student responses. The integration of visual media with role-playing activities provided concrete learning experiences, encouraged active participation, improved communication skills, and created an enjoyable learning environment. Therefore, Reviali learning media is feasible to be used as an instructional medium in IPAS learning on buying and selling activities in Grade IV elementary schools.

Abstract

The problem in this study is that science learning is still centered on the delivery of material by the teacher so that students are not actively involved in the learning process of natural and artificial appearances material. The purpose of this study is to determine the development process, expert validation, practicality, and effectiveness of the Fun Thinkers Book media. The method used in this study is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were 13 thirdgrade students of Tanah Merah State Elementary School. Data collection instruments include observation sheets, interviews, validation questionnaires (material, language, and media experts), teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest tests. The results of the study showed a 100% validation of the material with a “very high” criterion, 92% with a “very high” criterion for linguists, and 100% with a “very high” criterion for media experts. In the implementation phase, the teacher response rate was 94% with a “very practical” criterion, and the student response rate was 92.30% with a “very practical” criterion. The trial results showed that the N-Gain value for the pretest and posttest was 0.82 with a “high” criterion, and the N-Gain percentage was 81.67% with an “effective” criterion. It is recommended that schools with this media development will increase student enthusiasm, teachers are expected to be able to use the media, and future researchers are expected to continue developing the media with more diverse variations.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study was motivated by the limited use of innovative learning media in teaching the topic of the Arrival of European Nations in the Indonesian Archipelago, resulting in learning activities that were predominantly conducted through lectures and textbooks. This condition caused students to experience difficulties in understanding historical concepts that are abstract in nature, participate less actively in the learning process, and achieve suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aimed to develop an animated video learning media that is valid, practical, and effective for teaching the topic of the Arrival of European Nations in the Indonesian Archipelago in Grade VI IPAS (Science and Social Studies) learning at SD Negeri Paya Pelawi. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The research instruments included material expert validation sheets, language expert validation sheets, media expert validation sheets, teaching module validation sheets, pretest–posttest instrument validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results showed that the animated video learning media achieved a very high level of validity, with material expert validation reaching 96%, language expert validation 96%, media expert validation 77% (feasible), teaching module validation 95%, and pretest–posttest instrument validation 95%. The practicality level reached 92% in the small-group trial, 92% in the large-group trial, and 90% based on the teacher's response, all of which were categorized as highly practical. The effectiveness of the learning media was demonstrated by an increase in students' learning mastery from 40% in the pretest to 75% in the posttest. Therefore, the developed animated video learning media was found to be valid, practical, and effective, making it suitable for use as an alternative learning medium in Grade VI IPAS learning on the topic of the Arrival of European Nations in the Indonesian Archipelago at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This research was motivated by issues in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning in Class IV at SDN 10 Langsa. Educators still predominantly rely on textbooks as the main learning source, causing students to tend to lose focus during the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to develop a learning medium tailored to students' needs, test the feasibility, and ensure the practicality of an animated video learning medium based on Canva and CapCut applications covering the topic "Becoming Environmental Heroes" (Menjadi Pahlawan Lingkungan). This Research and Development (R&D) study employed the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Data were collected through observations of IPAS learning in Class IV, interviews with educators, expert validation assessments, as well as response questionnaires from both the educator and students. The validation results indicated that the product was declared "Very Feasible" based on assessments by material experts (96.87%), language experts (100%), and media experts (82.5%). Furthermore, the product achieved a "Very Practical" level of practicality, obtaining a 97.5% score from an educator practitioner's response questionnaire and a 91.71% score from 19 students' responses. Consequently, this animated video learning medium is proven to be highly feasible and practical for use in IPAS learning in elementary schools.
