Abstract

Fisherman family in coastal area is one of the groups who raise chicken in general, because it is easy to take care, eventhough it is still in extensification level. Approach methodology used is bay : (1) Speech and discussion on potency, prospect, and benefit of raising chicken, (2) demonstration and guidance for working chicken coop, ration formula, tetelo vaccination and choosing a new generation, (3) guidance of raising Buras chicken, time after harvesting and marketing, (4) forming a raise chicken group in order to discus in development of business and carrying out their problem. Speech and discussion material presented is positively responded and satisfactory to the participants because there has not yet been carried out such this program. Generally, the participants wanted to adopt and they were active in demonstration on choosing new generation, ration formula, prohibition of disease, taking care of chicken, making of coop and equipment, timing of harvesting and marketing. It would be concluded that the participants who came from Kelurahan Nambo is very enthusiasm and active in this program. Generally, the participants wanted to raise chicken as a primary job as well as their farming.

Abstract

The activity aims to provide Technical Guidance on Broiler Chicken Maintenance Management for Breeders in Puosu Jaya Village, Konda District. The problem experienced was the low knowledge of the farming community about how to manage chickens so that they can increase their productivity. Community service activities are carried out by implementing a chicken intensification technology package so that it was more profitable and develops in the community, especially the breeder community. The method of activity was carried out in preliminary activities, counseling and demonstrations as well as evaluation design. It can be concluded that the community really needs guidance in developing the potential of broiler farms that they have been working on, which has an impact on increasing income and developing chicken population.

Abstract

This technical guidance activity aims to teach how to process organic fertilizer based on cow dung which is mostly produced by the community's livestock, so that it can  reduce the cost of inorganic fertilizer and be more profitable. This activity was carried out in farmer groups in Morome and Alebo Villages, Konda District, South Konawe Regency. The method of activity is carried out by: (1) lectures and discussions on materials and methods of processing organic fertilizers, (2) demonstrations and guidance on the  selection of materials and processing of cow dung-based organic fertilizers, (3) packaging and marketing methods for livestock manure-based organic fertilizers. cow. The counseling material presented received a positive and satisfactory response from the participants. In general the participants wanted to adopt the training materials and were very active in the technical guidance. It was concluded that the participants were very interested in applying the guidance materials taught and producing them commercially. The participants hoped that their village would often be given agricultural and livestock guidance and counseling activities.

Abstract

This activity is a community service activity carried out to help increase the productivity of goat selling breeders around the coast of Kendari City, especially in the Anduonohu Market area. Implementation of activities carried out in the form of counseling in the form of visits, delivery of material and discussions directly to goat farmer. The material presented was in the form of planting forage as the main source of feed for goats and using reinforcing feed, the need for strong and tidy goat pens, namely a stage model so that they can maintain environmental cleanliness and livestock health, Management of goat manure waste into bokashi fertilizer. The results of the activity show that they understand and are capable of cultivating forage as the main source of feed and know the importance of using forage boosters (concentrates). 2) Farmers know the benefits of using stilt pens to maintain a clean environment and goat health but have not implemented them due to limited funds to build cages. 3) Farmers do not know about the use of EM4 in leftover feed and livestock manure to produce bokashi organic fertilizer in a short time.

Abstract

  This technical guidance aims to provide understanding to cattle breeders regarding the benefits of integrating cattle and food crops in one area so that participants are motivated and encouraged to carry out integration between cattle and food crops. This technical guidance was implemented at Sindang Kasih Village, West Ranomeeto District. Implementation of technical guidance uses lecture and discussion methods. The tools and materials used are vehicles, cell phones, and laptops. In general, Cattle Farmers in Sindang Kasih Village already understand the integration of cattle and food crops and its benefits and are committed to implementing this integration as indicated by the ability of all participants to answer questions correctly at the end of the activity session (100%). The challenges and problems of beef cattle farming include maintenance and waste processing systems. Integrating livestock with food crops in Sindang Kasih Village has been implemented well. The livestock in Sindang Kasih needs to be further improved to become one of the breeding and fattening centers in Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

The Komala Village community has many goats but there are many problems faced by the community such as dead fetuses, malnutrition, limited health care, environmental conditions, lack of knowledge and training and limited infrastructure. Therefore, the aim of this extension activity is to provide education to the farming community about the correct way to raise goats. This activity was carried out on Friday, March 26, 2023 at 16.00 WITA - Finish, located at the Gazebo of the Komala Village Head's House, South Wangi-Wangi District, Wakatobi. Counseling materials presented to the community: (1) Types of appropriate and balanced feed for goats, (2) Natural feed, supplementary feed, and fermented feed, (3) How to organize feeding according to age, weight, and maintenance objectives, (4) Efficient feeding methods, and (5) Mixing and serving feed techniques. After following the goat farming extension, the community response was as follows: (1) enthusiasm and participation, (2) increased understanding, (3) interest in new practices, (4) awareness of the importance of improving goat rearing practices (5) satisfaction with information, (6) positive perception of benefits, (7) desire for further training, and (8) better collaboration. The conclusion from this community service activity is that the community in Komala Village still has low knowledge regarding how to raise goats. Although they have experience in raising goats, many things can still be improved in farming practices to achieve better results. As for what needs to be improved in community knowledge, such as feed management, care, production management, use of technology, and business management skills.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to provide knowledge and skills to women in coastal villages on how to make fish floss from tuna scraps, resulting in floss with a texture, aroma, and taste similar to beef floss. The activity was conducted in Abeli Subdistrict, with participants from five coastal neighborhoods in Kendari City: Abeli Village (3 participants), Lapulu Village (3 participants), Talia Village (5 participants), Nambo Village (4 participants), and Sambuli Village (4 participants), totaling 19 participants. The activity was conducted using educational sessions and demonstrations.  The evaluation results showed that the community, particularly the women who participated in the training, were able to master and apply the fish floss production techniques taught. Based on observations by the program implementers, approximately 90% of the women were already able to make fish floss, as most participants had previously been accustomed to making traditional Bajabu fish floss. With this knowledge, they were able to utilize their free time productively by producing fish floss from tuna scraps.

Abstract

As agents of change, community are required to acquire extensive knowledge and skills during their studies. The development of these skills should ideally be gained through practical activities during the academic process; however, this is often hindered by the lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure for practical training. This results in community not fully mastering the required skills. This science and technology application activity aims to strengthen the skills of animal science community through training in the production of meatball using chicken meat as the main ingredient. The activity was conducted at the Animal Science Department of the Faculty of Agriculture, Halu Oleo University. The methods used in the activity were as follows: (1) lectures and discussions on the potential and prospects of the bakso agroindustry and agribusiness, (2) demonstrations and guidance on meatball production, and (3) motivation for entrepreneurial spirit development. The results of the activity showed that the training materials presented received positive and satisfactory responses from the participants, as such activities had never been conducted before. Generally, the participants expressed interest in adopting the material on making baksos using chicken meat as the main ingredient. It was concluded that the target audience, consisting of animal science community, were enthusiastic and active in the technical guidance activities for meatball production. Overall, the training participants expressed a desire to engage in entrepreneurship by producing meatballs made from chicken meat.
