Abstract

Background: End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is a chronic disease that has a significant impact on patients' physical, psychological, and social functioning. While hemodialysis therapy prolongs life expectancy, it also places a significant physical and emotional burden. This condition can reduce their quality of life. Implementing good self-management behaviors, such as adherence to therapy, dietary adjustments, and emotional management, can help patients adapt and improve their well-being. Purpose: To identify the relationship between self-management and quality of life in ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis in Surakarta. Methods: This study was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 150 patients undergoing HD, and the sampling technique used convenience sampling with a sample size of 80 people. Inclusion criteria included patients undergoing HD for at least 6 months. The instrument used to measure self-management was the HemoDialysis Self-Management Instrument (HDSMI), while quality of life was measured using the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form (KDQOL SF-36). The relationship between the two variables was analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: This study found a significant positive relationship between self-management and quality of life in hemodialysis patients (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). Patients with good self-management skills tended to demonstrate higher levels of physical and psychological well-being. Conclusion: Improved self-management is positively associated with a higher quality of life in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis. Therefore, nursing interventions should focus on strengthening self-management skills through health education and ongoing psychosocial support.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia. In 2024, Boyolali Regency recorded 963 DHF cases, with Sambi District accounting for the highest number (114 cases and 1 death). Notably, 16% of cases occurred in school-aged children, highlighting the importance of their knowledge regarding DHF prevention. Objective: This study aimed to assess the level of knowledge about DHF prevention among 5th and 6th grade elementary school students in Sambi District and identify influencing factors. Method: A quantitative descriptive design was applied using a cluster random sampling technique. A total of 62 students from nine elementary schools participated. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Results: The majority of students (64.5%) had moderate knowledge about DHF, 24.2% demonstrated good knowledge, and 11.3% had poor knowledge. Most respondents were female (62.9%). Conclusion: The overall knowledge level among students was categorized as moderate, with a predominance of female respondents. The results indicate the need for enhanced school-based health education programs to improve students’ understanding and preventive practices related to DHF.

Abstract

Background: Head injury is a serious problem that can lead to death and even death. Handling of head injuries starts from protecting the brain with blood flow to the brain so that hypoxia or brain ischemia does not occur. Hemodynamics is the result of measuring systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate. Objectives: This literature review aims to find out what interventions can be done when there is an increase in hemodynamic status in head injury patients Methods: This database search was conducted by searching on google scholars with the keywords head injury, hemodynamics. The inclusion criteria of this literature review are articles that were researched within the last 5 years with the year published 2015-2020, full text, using the Indonesian language, the article that used is the article. Results: Interventions that can be done when there is an increase in hemodynamic status in head injury patients are giving oxygen and increasing 30o, giving oxygen through a simple mask and head position 30o, giving head-up position 30o compared to 15o position, giving nasal prong oxygenation therapy and murotal therapy Al-Qur'an for 30 minutes 3 times/day. Conclusion: All interventions resulting from this literature review were in the form of giving oxygen and increasing the head 30o, giving oxygen through a simple mask and head position 30o, giving the head position 30o compared to 15o position, giving nasal branch oxygenation therapy, and murotal Al-Qur'an therapy for 30 minutes 3 times/day.

Abstract

Background: Impaired mobility in stroke patients often causes excessive pressure on the skin, increasing the risk of pressure ulcers. If left untreated, decubitus wounds can get worse and lead to infection. Based on evidence, regular right-left tilt mobilization is a potential intervention to prevent pressure ulcers. Objective: Analyze the application of right-slant-left-slant mobilization to prevent pressure ulcers in stroke patients at Ibu Fatmawati Soekarno Regional Hospital, Surakarta City. Method: Descriptive research design with a case study approach, carried out every 3 hours on 2 respondents to explore the application of right oblique-left oblique mobilization in preventing pressure ulcers in stroke patients. Results: Before implementing the right oblique-left oblique mobilization every 3 hours the respondent was at moderate risk with a score of Tn .S 15, Ny.S 16 and pressure ulcers can be prevented. Conclusion: There is an effect of tilting mobilization to the right and left which is indicated by a decrease in the risk of developing pressure ulcers at the Ibu Fatmawati Soekarno Regional Hospital, Surakarta City.
