Abstract

Teenagers are an asset and the next generation of the nation, where the future of the nation and state for the future is in their hands. For this reason, it is crucial and inevitable to pay attention to the condition of teenagers today, including their health, specifically regarding reproductive health. Anemia and reproductive health are two things that cannot be separated when talking about adolescent health to prepare them to become a generation that will also have children. It is hoped that the long chain of the stunting phenomenon can be slowly reduced and even broken by preparing the current generation to become a generation that is ready and healthy both physically and physically. Community service activities with the theme of youth education about anemia and reproductive health in Rancakalong Village and Pamekaran Village involved 53 participants consisting of young women with sociodemographic characteristics of early teens and late teens, with junior and senior high school education. The activity results showed an increase in young women's knowledge about anemia and reproductive health, where based on the post-test results, an average score of 88.4 ± 5.6 was obtained from the pre-test results of 59.5 ± 12.6. Thus, it can be concluded that educational activities are significantly useful in increasing young women's knowledge in Rancakalong and Pamekaran villages about anemia and reproductive health.

Abstract

Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem in the community, especially among adolescents and women of childbearing age. One clinical manifestation of anemia or other conditions frequently found in schools and the community is fainting. Lack of knowledge about anemia and the public's lack of knowledge regarding first aid for fainting can result in delayed treatment and an increased risk of complications. This community service activity aims to increase participants' knowledge about anemia prevention and basic skills in providing first aid to fainting patients. The method used was interactive counseling supplemented by demonstrations and simulations, as well as evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The activity was held at Pancar Bakti Junior and Senior High Schools, Gunung Pancar, Bogor, and was attended by 100 participants. The results showed an increase in the average understanding score of participants from 58 (pre-test) to 85 (post-test), with active participation in the discussion and simulation sessions. In conclusion, this outreach activity was effective in increasing participants' basic knowledge and skills regarding anemia and first aid for fainting, and can be used as a promotional and preventive effort in the community.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension, defined as systolic blood pressure >140 mmHg and diastolic >90 mmHg, is a major health issue that may lead to complications in various organs. It is influenced by modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between modifiable risk factors and the incidence of hypertension in Jemah Village, Sumedang Regency, in 2024. Method: This research used a quantitative cross-sectional design and was conducted in April 2024 in Jemah Village. The population included all residents aged ≥18 years, with 50 respondents selected using purposive sampling based on the Lemeshow formula. Central obesity was chosen as the primary variable due to its highest required sample size. Results and Discussion: Among the 50 respondents (24% male, 76% female), 70% were aged 18–64 years. Key modifiable risk factors identified included 66% non-smokers, 82% with excessive salt intake, 54% moderate physical activity, 44% with central obesity, and 54% with dyslipidemia. Chi-square analysis showed significant associations between hypertension and dyslipidemia (p=0.001), smoking (p=0.036), physical activity (p=0.046), and salt consumption (p=0.024). Conclusion: Hypertension was more prevalent among women. Dyslipidemia, smoking, physical inactivity, and high salt intake were significantly associated with hypertension.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting is a form of growth failure (growth faltering) due to the accumulation of nutritional deficiencies that last for a long time starting from pregnancy until the age of 24 months. Optimal nutritional intake for newborns by providing exclusive breast milk as the main food until the age of 6 months and then continuing until the age of 2 years accompanied by appropriate and high-quality complementary foods will prevent stunting in toddlers. One important effort to prevent stunting is by empowering the community, especially parents, to pay attention to the intake of breast milk and complementary foods for their babies. By providing knowledge to the public about the importance of correct breastfeeding and MPASI, it is hoped that the public can change their behavior to prioritize exclusive breastfeeding and correct MPASI. This community service method uses an educational approach through outreach with a total of 139 participants who live in five villages in Jatigede District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. Socialization involving experts gave results that there was an increase in participants' knowledge as measured using pre-test and post-test instruments. The percentage of participants who experienced an increase in knowledge from 139 participants, the results obtained were 118 participants (85%) experienced an increase in knowledge about breast milk and complementary foods, and 19 people (14%) had the same knowledge before and after socialization while 2 people (1%) gained The score decreased during the post-test due to several factors, including some participants who did not have time to complete the post-test questionnaire due to having to do other work
