Abstract

Abstract

The ability of preschool principals to solve problems effectively is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of early childhood education institutions. Preschool principals are key in managing administrative tasks, teacher performance, curriculum implementation, and parent-school relationships. However, challenges such as limited resources, staff conflicts, and adapting to educational policies require strong problem-solving skills. This study aims to explore the problem-solving abilities of preschool principals in Medan, Indonesia, by identifying key challenges they face and analyzing the strategies they employ to address them. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, involving 20 preschool principals in Medan as participants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and observations to gain insights into the problem-solving methods applied in various educational scenarios. Thematic analysis was used to identify recurring patterns and strategies in addressing common issues. Practical problem-solving skills among preschool principals are essential for maintaining a well-functioning educational environment. These skills include analytical thinking to identify the root causes of instructional or behavioral issues, decision-making under pressure, conflict resolution between staff or with parents, strategic planning for curriculum and resource development, and collaborative problem-solving that engages teachers in reflective dialogue and peer learning. Training programs focusing on strategic decision-making, leadership development, and conflict resolution can further strengthen their problem-solving abilities, ultimately improving early childhood education in Medan. Studies should also investigate how principal problem-solving styles influence teacher motivation and the sustainability of innovative pedagogical approaches.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of teacher professionalism and discipline on teacher performance at Rawas Ulu Muratara Vocational School. The core problem addressed is the variation in teacher effectiveness, which may be rooted in varying levels of professional competence and disciplinary behavior among educators. The objective of the research is to determine how significantly these two factors contribute to improving overall teacher performance and to identify the extent of their individual and combined effects. The study employed a quantitative research method grounded in a positivist paradigm, utilizing statistical analysis to examine data collected from a representative sample of teachers at the school. Instruments such as structured questionnaires were used to gather numerical data on teacher professionalism, discipline, and performance indicators. The collected data were analyzed using multiple regression techniques to measure the degree of influence each independent variable had on teacher performance. The results revealed that teacher professionalism has a dominant and significant effect, contributing 63.9% to teacher performance. Teacher discipline also significantly influences performance, with a contribution of 26.8%. When analyzed together, both professionalism and discipline account for 77.369% of the variation in teacher performance, indicating a strong combined effect. These findings highlight the urgent need for professional development and stricter enforcement of discipline policies to enhance educational outcomes. The study offers valuable insights for school leaders, policymakers, and education stakeholders seeking to implement effective strategies for improving teacher quality and overall institutional performance.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Driving Teachers (Guru Penggerak) in advancing innovative work behavior among educators within the context of Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) policy. Employing a qualitative approach through literature review, this paper synthesizes insights from policy documents, scholarly publications, and training frameworks to understand how teacher leadership, reflective practice, and technological adaptation contribute to educational transformation. The review highlights that Driving Teachers act not only as classroom facilitators but also as mentors, collaborators, and change agents within professional learning communities. Their ability to foster student-centered, inclusive, and contextually relevant instruction is central to the success of Merdeka Belajar. The analysis also identifies challenges such as policy-practice gaps, limited institutional support, and the need for sustained professional development. This study offers practical implications for education policymakers, school leaders, and teacher educators in enhancing teacher capacity and system-wide innovation. It also contributes to the academic discourse on teacher agency and reform in emerging education systems.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and teacher work motivation. This research was conducted at Putra Anda Binjai Vocational School. This research method uses non-test techniques, namely in the form of questionnaires. The sample for this research consisted of 80 teachers. The sampling technique was carried out by total sampling. The research results show that the r count is 0.803, with a p value = 0.000. Because p < 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05), Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected, so it can be interpreted that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional regulation and teacher work motivation. The resulting determinant coefficient is r2 = 0.845, so it can be seen that emotional regulation has an influence of 84.5% on teacher work motivation and another 35.5% is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

This study affirms that Teaching Factory (Tefa) is a systemic educational innovation bridging vocational high school learning with industry needs. By embedding authentic production processes into curricula, Tefa supports national economic priorities and global TVET reform principles. Bibliometric analysis identified four clusters: resources and evaluation, competency-based education, operational implementation, and the education–industry–quality link. Publication growth since 2018 reflects strong policy momentum from initiatives such as SMK Revitalization. However, gaps remain in longitudinal employability studies, cost-effectiveness evaluations, and Industry 4.0 integration. Tefa’s success depends on teacher development, curriculum alignment, infrastructure readiness, and industry collaboration. With strategic scaling and continuous improvement, Tefa could serve as a benchmark for vocational education reform in Indonesia and other nations.
