Abstract

Access to quality education in remote and rural areas remains a global challenge due to geographical isolation, lack of infrastructure, and limited resources. Mobile learning (m-learning) has emerged as a potential solution to bridge this gap, offering flexible and accessible education through mobile devices. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of mobile learning in remote and rural areas, focusing on its impact on student engagement, learning outcomes, and the challenges associated with its implementation. A mixed-methods research design was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with students and teachers from rural schools that have adopted mobile learning platforms. The study involved 250 students and 50 teachers across three regions. Quantitative data was analyzed to assess learning outcomes, while qualitative data provided insights into the user experience and challenges faced in implementing m-learning. The findings reveal that mobile learning significantly improves student engagement, with 70% of students reporting increased motivation to learn due to the flexibility and accessibility of m-learning. However, technical challenges such as poor internet connectivity and limited access to devices were noted as barriers to full adoption. Despite these challenges, 65% of teachers reported positive changes in student performance and participation. In conclusion, mobile learning offers a promising solution for enhancing education in remote and rural areas. While it significantly improves engagement and learning outcomes, addressing the technical and infrastructural barriers is crucial for maximizing its potential. The study suggests that with proper investment in infrastructure, m-learning can be an effective tool for bridging educational disparities in underserved regions.

Sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0,000 karena nilai p value <0,05. Ada hubungan cakupan vitamin A denagan pengetahuan orang tua tentang manfaat vitamin A pada balita di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Balowerti Kota Kediri

Abstract

The rapid decline of regional languages poses a significant challenge to cultural preservation and linguistic diversity. As globalization and digitalization continue to spread, regional languages are at risk of being overshadowed by dominant languages. This research explores the potential of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and gamification, to revitalize regional languages by enhancing language learning applications. The study aims to develop and evaluate an AI-driven, gamified language learning application designed to promote the acquisition and preservation of regional languages. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining the development of the language learning application with usability testing and user feedback. The application integrates AI to provide personalized learning experiences and uses gamification elements to increase engagement and motivation. The effectiveness of the application was tested through pilot studies with users from different age groups, focusing on language retention, engagement, and user satisfaction. The results show that the AI and gamification-based application significantly improved language retention and engagement among participants. Users reported higher motivation and enjoyment compared to traditional language learning methods, and the application was particularly effective in making learning more interactive and appealing for younger audiences. This study concludes that integrating AI and gamification into language learning applications can play a pivotal role in revitalizing regional languages, providing a scalable and engaging solution for preserving linguistic heritage.

Limited learning media, learning resources, family economy, and motivation cause children to lack awareness of reading activities. Children’s reading literacy skills are the primary concern in this activity. The activity implementation for 2 days in Karang Rejo village, Tarakan, North Kalimantan, began with observations in the town. The participants were 14 lower-grade children (grades 1-3 of elementary school). Abstract

Background. Intercultural empathy is an essential skill in globalized societies, yet language education often overlooks its emotional and cultural dimensions. Multicultural folklore offers a rich and underutilized resource for embedding cultural narratives in language curricula to foster deeper cross-cultural understanding. Purpose. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of integrating multicultural folklore into language learning to enhance students' intercultural empathy across five core dimensions: openness, empathy, respect, engagement, and confidence. Method. Using a quasi-experimental design, two groups of junior high school students (N=60) were observed over six sessions. The experimental group received a folklore-integrated language curriculum, while the control group followed a conventional language program. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, and student reflective journals, analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic coding. Results. The experimental group showed a significant increase in empathy scores, with a mean gain of 11 points compared to 2 points in the control group. Reflective writings revealed enhanced emotional engagement, especially in students exposed to diverse cultural narratives. The empathy dimension showing the highest improvement was respect, followed by emotional empathy. Conclusion. Multicultural folklore is a powerful pedagogical tool for fostering intercultural empathy in language education. The integration of narrative elements into linguistic instruction enhances not only comprehension but also emotional connection and cultural sensitivity. Future research should explore broader cultural contexts and assess long-term impact.
