Abstract

This research aims to determine and explain the effect of fun workplace and work environment on work engagement through job satisfaction on educational staff at a public university. This research is classified as quantitative research with a population of 50 university educational staff, and the sampling technique used is a saturated sampling method, resulting in a total sample of 50 respondents. The statistical analysis used in this research was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help of SmartPLS software. The results of this research show that fun workplace has no significant effect on work engagement, work environment has a significant positive effect on work engagement, job satisfaction has a significant positive effect on work engagement, fun workplace has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction, work environment has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction, job satisfaction is able to mediate the effect of a fun workplace on work engagement, and job satisfaction is able to mediate the effect of the work environment on work engagement. The implications of this study suggest that to enhance the effectiveness of the fun workplace program, institutions should incorporate fun into daily routines instead of depending only on occasional major events. This includes morning briefings with ice breakers and informal interaction spaces. These should be aligned with the faculty’s formal culture to ensure appropriateness. Furthermore, the study suggests supportive leadership approach including constructive feedback, task rotation, and fair performance evaluations to improve staff well-being and development.

Abstract

Early childhood education (ECE) is fundamental for fostering lifelong learning and cognitive development, yet teachers’ varying conceptual understandings of learning environments can significantly shape children’s opportunities to explore, interact, and think critically. This multi-site qualitative study—the first within the Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah Kindergarten (TK ABA) network—analyzes variations in teachers’ perceptions and practices in designing learning environments that promote cognitive growth across three schools in Batu City, Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. Findings reveal distinct pedagogical orientations: TK ABA 01 demonstrated constructivist and inquiry-based practices with integrated loose parts; TK ABA 02 maintained conventional teacher-centered instruction; and TK ABA 03 reflected transitional patterns through exploratory outdoor learning with limited planning consistency. Quantitative descriptors supported these findings: planning quality (ABA01 = 4.6; ABA02 = 2.4; ABA03 = 3.8) and child engagement (ABA01 = 85%; ABA02 = 46%; ABA03 = 71%). These results underscore the centrality of environmental design, creative media use, and teacher collaboration in enhancing cognitive stimulation. The study offers novel insights into intra-network variations in early childhood pedagogy and recommends professional development that emphasizes ecological awareness and environment-based learning design to ensure equitable cognitive experiences for all children.

Abstract

The implementation of character values through the Pancasila Student Profile is a complex task, facing various obstacles, particularly due to the rapid and often uncontrolled technological developments in the era of Society 5.0. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing thematic analysis to identify key patterns in student character development, along with source triangulation to ensure the validity of findings. Based on this research, strengthening students' character through the integration of local wisdom in P5 activities at SMA Muhammadiyah Boleng, specifically through the Tiba Meka dance, has proven to be effective. Observations and interviews indicate a 30% increase in students’ cultural awareness, demonstrating that learning the Tiba Meka dance not only helps students recognize and preserve their cultural heritage but also cultivates discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and cultural pride. Furthermore, the active involvement of teachers and strong parental support significantly contribute to the success of this program. The findings highlight that the P5 initiative, through traditional dance, fosters character formation rooted in local identity and strengthens students' connection to their cultural heritage. This study suggests that integrating local wisdom into education, particularly through performing arts, is a practical and effective strategy for shaping students with strong personal and cultural values, offering valuable insights for the broader Indonesian educational system.
