Abstract

Carrots (Daucus carota L.) are vegetable types of annuals because they only produce once and then die. Carrot tubers are reddish-yellow due to the high content of carotene. Microcrystalline cellulose is one of the excipients (additives) in tablet preparations, namely as a filler, which is considered a binding agent because it can increase the compactness ability of tablets from compression mixtures. Microcrystalline cellulose comes from natural resources containing lignocellulose fibers such as wood and non-wood. One of the abundant fibrous plants in Indonesia is carrots (Daucus carota L.). The main chemical composition of carrots includes carbohydrates, namely dietary fiber (hemicellulose, cellulose), starch, and several types of sugar. This research aimed to determine whether carrot cellulose (Daucus carota L.) can be made into microcrystalline cellulose and compare the physical quality of carrot cellulose microcrystalline results with Avicel PH 102. Microcrystalline cellulose is made by a delignification process using 15% NaOH, followed by a bleaching process using 3.5% NaOCl, and then continued with a hydrolysis process with HCl 2.5N. Then, microcrystalline cellulose is carried out a physical quality evaluation, which includes organoleptic, identification, pH, solubility of substances in water, shrinkage of dryers, and starch. The results of the research showed that carrots can be made into microcrystalline cellulose, namely with the results of physical quality evaluation compared to Avicel PH 102, organoleptic powder, odorless, tasteless, and yellowish white (microcrystalline cellulose) and white (Avicel PH 102); identification, each of which produces a blue-violet color; pH 5.67 and 6.5; the solubility of substances in water is 0.1% each; drying shrinkage 4.70% and 2.53%; and starch, respectively not formed violet blue solution.

Abstract

The menteng plant, which belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family, is a subtropical plant worldwide. Flavonoids are one of the groups of phenolic compounds found in plant tissues that can act as antioxidants. This research aimed to determine the class of chemical compounds found in the Menteng fruit peel and determine the characteristics of fruit peel flavonoids by UV Spectrophotometry and IR Spectrophotometry. %. Phytochemical screening showed positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, and steroids/triterpenoids, while tannins, saponins, and glycosides were negative from 400 grams of simplisia produced 39.1 grams of viscous extract. Characterization of crystal isolates of UV spectrophotometry showed a wavelength of 280 nm, inferred to be a flavanoid. The results of IR spectrophotometry show the O-H, C-H aliphatic, C=C aromatic, C=O, C-H, and C-O groups.

Abstract

Indonesian people have long used plants as medicine and for health maintenance, which is inherited from generation to generation. One plant that can be used in traditional medicine is the ciplukan plant (Physalis angulata L.), which is a small plant that can grow anywhere. It turns out not only has a unique taste but is also beneficial for health; ciplukan can be used to treat flu and sore throat, whooping cough, bronchitis, mumps, ulcers, and also Ayan or epilepsy. Empirically, the use of ciplukan plants functions as a cure for smallpox, which has been used by the community by bathing. Smallpox is shaped like a blistered burn and will be shaped like an ulcer. So, researchers are interested in developing in the form of ointment because it is more effective to use and can be taken anywhere. This research was conducted to determine that ethanol extract of ciplukan leaves can be formulated on the basis of absorbent ointment and to determine the healing effect of burns in rabbits from the preparation of ethanol extract ointment of ciplukan leaves (Physalis angulata L.). Ciplukan leaf extract is made from simplicial ciplukan leaves by maceration method and then tested for the effectiveness of healing burns on rabbits using ointment. The ointment is made in 4 formulations, namely F0, F1 (10%), F2 (15%), and F3 (20%) using white Vaseline as the ointment base. Evaluation of ointment preparations includes physical stability (shape, smell and colour, homogeneity, pH, dispersion, adhesion and viscosity. All formulas of ointment preparations are good in storage. In ointment preparations in the homogeneity test, all formulas are homogeneous. In pH inspection, dispersion, adhesion and viscosity all meet requirements according to predetermined or established standards. Ciplukan leaf extract can be formulated into an ointment dosage form. Ointment preparations with a high concentration are most effective in healing burns in rabbits.

Abstract

The avocado peel contains flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids, and glycosides and has antimicrobial properties. Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-positive bacteria and typical skin microorganism that causes acne. It produces lipase, which breaks down free fatty acids from skin lipids. The gel preparation was chosen. It is better used in treating acne because it does not contain oil or affect acne. This study aimed to determine whether the ethanol extract of avocado peel can be used as an anti-acne gel and to choose the inhibitory power of the gel preparation against Staphylococcus aureus. The ethanol extract of avocado peel was prepared using the percolation method; the extract was formulated into anti-acne gel with 10%, 20%, and 30%. Then, a physical evaluation of the preparation was carried out by assessing organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, spreadability, irritation, skin moisture, and syneresis. Then, the activity of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria was tested on gel preparations. The result is that the ethanol extract of avocado peel can be formulated into gel preparation. It has a distinctive aroma, is homogeneous, has a pH range of 6,2-6,9, has a value of viscosity, spreadability, and good adhesion, does not irritate, can moisturize the skin, and does not cause syneresis. The gel preparation had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, namely a concentration of 10% inhibition of 14.56 mm, 20% inhibition of 19.46 mm, and 30% inhibition of 21.2%, so the interpretation of the inhibition zone was included in the susceptible category.

Abstract

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that can relieve arthritis symptoms, such as inflammation, swelling, and muscle stiffness and pain, by acting as an inhibitor of enzymes that produce prostaglandins. In the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia Edition V (2014), the determination of sugar tablet content was carried out using high performance liquid chromatography. This method is expensive compared to the spectrophotometric method. The purpose of this research is to find an alternative method that is simple and inexpensive but provides good accuracy. This research was descriptive in nature using spectrophotometry-UV method, with 0.1 N NaOH Methanol as a solvent. The samples used in this study were 4 generic meloxicam tablets. The test parameters of this research included the preparation of Standard Mother Solution I (LIB I). Maximum wavelength, Linearity Protection of the Calibration Curve and Determination of the Concentration of Meloxicam in Tablet Preparations. From the results of testing the samples, generic meloxicam tablets were taken from PT. (Dankos pharma) 102.47 ± 0.9868%; generic meloxicam tablets (PT. Etercon Pharma) 98.05 ± 1.0930%; generic meloxicam tablets (PT. Mahakam Beta Farma) 99.79 ± 1.046%; generic tablets (Triman) 101.21 ± 2.4345%. All the tablets specified meet the general strength requirements, that is, the active ingredient content is not less than 90% and not more than 110% of the amount stated on the label.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can counteract / reduce the negative effects of free radicals that cause damage to the body. Natural antioxidants are used as an alternative in an effort to minimize the use of synthetic antioxidants which can cause carcinogens. Utilization of melinjo leaves as herbal tea is one effort to use natural antioxidants to minimize the use of synthetic antioxidants which can cause carcinogens. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of secondary metabolites contained in melinjo leaf tea, the characteristics of melinjo leaf tea and the antioxidant activity of melinjo leaf tea. This research was conducted by making melinjo leaf herbal tea through a drying process in a drying cabinet at 40oC, phytochemical screening, examining the characteristics of the tea, and testing the antioxidant activity. The results of the Phytochemical screening examination showed that melinjo leaf herbal tea contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids/triterpenoids. As well as having the characteristics of water content 5.6866%, water extract 36.9740%, total ash content 5.7658%, water soluble ash content to total ash 7.7066, acid insoluble ash content 0.54%. While the antioxidant activity test of melinjo leaf herbal tea showed very weak antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 501.7622 ppm

Abstract

Buah rimbang (solanum torvum sw) memiliki manfaat sebagai antioksidan, mencegah diabetes, mengatasi masalah pencernaan, meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh, mencegah kanker, merawat fungsi jantung, merawat kesehatan kulit, mengatasi peradangan, obat untuk infeksi bakteri, memperlancar peredaran darah, kesehatan mata dan buah rimbang dapat menjadi tabir surya alami. Tablet hisap banyak di kembangkan dalam industri farmasi karena kelebihan yang lebih mudah diterima oleh pasien terutama pada anak-anak, bentuknya yang menarik seperti permen serta praktis dalam penggunannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui serbuk buah rimbang dengan variasi bahan pemanis memiliki sifat granulasi yang baik dan untuk mengetahui sediaan tablet serbuk buah rimbang memenuhi syarat sebagai sediaan tablet hisap. Metode yang digunakan pada proses pembuatan tablet ini adalah proses pembuatan tablet hisap dengan menggunakan metode granulasi kering yang di dalamnya terdapat uji mutu karakteristik fisik granul dan setelah menjadi tablet dilakukan uji mutu karakteristik fisik sediaan tablet dan selanjutnya dilakukan uji tingkat kesukaan pada para panelis terhadap perbandingan konsentrasi variasi bahan pemanis Hasil penelitian dari mutu karakteristik fisik granul yaitu uji waktu alir, sudut diam, dan indeks tap mendapatkan hasil yang memenuhi syarat serta mutu sediaan tablet yang meliputi uji keseragaman bobot, kerapuhan, kekerasan, dan waktu hancur juga memenuhi syarat pada tiap formula dan saat dilakukan uji kesukaan. Para panelis menyukai tablet hisap Formula 1 yaitu dengan perbandingan. Manitol : Xylitol (1:1). Kombinasi pemanis yang disukai para panelis adalah komninasi 1:1 yang mana Manitol dan Xylitol memiliki kombinasi rasa yang pas dimulut para panelis.

Abstract

Jeruk Sunkist merupakan buah yang banyak disukai oleh semua kalangan masyarakat, agar mudah dalam mengonsumsinya maka dilakukan inovasi dengan membuat jeruk sunkist menjadi sediaan jelly drink. jelly drink yang ada dipasaran masih banyak menggunakan bahan-bahan sintetik sehingga perlu dilakukan modifikasi mengunakan bahan alami, sehingga semua lapisan masyarakat dapat menikmati minuman sehat sehingga terhindar dari minuman yang mengandung zat berbahaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pembuatan minuman yang sehat dari sari jeruk sunkist dengan kombinasi karagenan dan tepung porang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental. Pemeriksaan mutu fisik yang dilakukan meliputi organoleptik, kadar vitamin C, total asam, analisis sineresis, viskositas, homogenitas, pH, dan hedonik. Berdasarkan hasil peneletian diketahui bahwa jeruk sunkist dapat diformulasikan sebagai sediaan jelly drink dengan kombinasi karagenan dan tepung porang. Kosentrasi karagenan dan tepung porang mempengaruhi sifat fisikokimia sediaan jelly drink. Hasil evaluasi mutu fisik sediaan dan uji hedonik jelly drink jeruk sunkist menunjukkan bahwa formula F3 merupakan formula terbaik dan paling banyak disukai oleh panelis baik dari segi tekstur, rasa, aroma, warna dan daya hisap.

Abstract

Jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix DC) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mudah dijumpai dan banyak tumbuh di Indonesia. Tanaman ini tumbuh pada tempat yang cukup disinari matahari, daun jeruk purut terdapat metabolit sekunder steroid/triterpenoid, tanin, flavonoid, dan alkaloid. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui formulasi ekstrak daun jeruk purut (Citrus hystrix DC) yang dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan deodorant stick dengan karakteristik yang baik dan untuk mengetahui kosentrasi dari sediaan deodorant stick tersebut dalam menghambat keluarnya keringat. Penelitian dilakukan meliputi pengumpulan sampel daun jeruk purut yang diambil secara purposif dari Kota Taluk Kuantan Riau, dibuat menjadi serbuk simplisia dan diekstrak dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dan dipekatkan dengan menggunakan rotary evaporator. Simplisia di skrining untuk melihat kandungan senyawa metabolit sekunder pada daun jeruk purut, konsentrasi eksktrak etanol daun jeruk purut untuk pembuatan deodorant stick yang digunakan adalah 1%,2%,3%, kemudian blanko dan sediaan deodorant stick yang dijual dipasar. Evaluasi formulasi sediaan deodorant stick meliputi uji organoleptis, uji homogenitas, uji pH, uji waktu leleh, uji titik lebur, dan uji antiprespiran. Hasil uji sediaan deodorant stick ekstrak etanol daun jeruk purut terhadap antiperspirant dari 20 orang panelis hasil yang di dapat berbeda setiap formulasinya, formulasi yang paling sedikit terdapat terdapat keringat pada kapas yaitu formulasi f4 (+) produk pasar dan formulasi f3 sediaan deodorant stick daun jeruk purut dengan kosentrasi 3%, dimana pada panelis yang paling banyak terdapat keringat dikapas yaitu formulasi f0 (-) blanko . Abstract

Buah rimbang (Solanum torvum Sw.) mengandung metabolit sekunder alkaloid dan tanin yang dimana senyawa ini memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan memformulasikan tablet hisap buah rimbang variasi pemanis manitol dan stevia dengan rasa dan waktu hancur tablet yang baik. Tablet hisap dibuat dengan metode kempa langsung dengan konsentrasi pemanis manitol dan stevia F1 1:1 (25%;25%), F2 1:2 (16,7%;33,3%), dan F3 2:1(33,3%;16,7%). Kemudian uji mutu fisik tablet hisap meliputi keseragaman ukuran dan bobot, kekerasan, friabilitas, waktu disintegrasi in vitro, disintegrasi in vivo, dan hedonic test yang dilakukan oleh panelis dengan analisis deskriptif, dan analisis data waktu hancur in vitro secara statistik dengan SPSS versi 20 dengan uji ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa F1,F2 dan F3 memenuhi syarat sebagai tablet hisap berdasarkan pada hasil keseragaman bobot rata-rata 602 mg, kekerasan rata-rata 11,98 - 10,79 kg, friabilitas 0,50-0,75%, disintegrasi in vitro 5,11 - 2,08 menit, disintegrasi in vivo 3,48 - 1,44 menit, hedonic test pada panelis lebih menerima F3 dengan tingkat kesukaan hingga 83%, ANOVA pada in vitro diperoleh nilai Sig.<0,05 dengan hasil 0,000 kesimpulan H0 ditolak atau H1 diterima. Berdasarkan uji mutu fisik dan hedonic test Formula yang terbaik adalah F3 dengan konsentrasi 2:1(33,3%;16,7%).
