Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable assessment instrument to measure students' higher-order thinking skills in the context of acid-base chemistry. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach using the 4-D model, which includes the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The initial product was validated through expert judgment, evaluated for feasibility by chemistry teachers, and subjected to field testing. The study involved 200 twelfth-grade science students from SMAN Bireuen. Data collection techniques included interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Data collection instruments included interview guidelines, item validation sheets, feasibility evaluation forms, and multiple-choice questions with open-ended justifications. The research findings revealed that the material validation assessment obtained an average score of 47.5 ( 46.194), categorized as "very good." Similarly, the feasibility assessment achieved an average score of 72.5 ( 67.188), also falling within the "very good" category. A total of 30 test items from the trial were analyzed in terms of validity, reliability, difficulty level, discrimination index, and distractor effectiveness. Therefore, it can be concluded that the assessment instrument is appropriate for measuring higher-order thinking skills in the topic of acid-base chemistry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze learning difficulties in relation to students' levels of conceptual understanding—categorized as conceptually understood, misconceptions, and lack of understanding—among 11th-grade science students (Grade XI MIPA) in the Teupah Barat District, specifically concerning the topic of hydrocarbons. A Two-Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic test was employed as the primary instrument. The study utilized a qualitative descriptive method. The population comprised all Grade XI MIPA students from senior high schools in the Teupah Barat District. The sample included 40 students from SMA Negeri 1 Teupah Barat and SMA Negeri 2 Teupah Barat, selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to process and interpret the students' responses. The results indicate that the Two-Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic test was effective in identifying students' conceptual understanding and in uncovering alternative conceptions through dominant incorrect answer choices that diverged from scientifically accurate concepts.The findings reveal that among the participants, 64% demonstrated conceptual understanding, 23% exhibited misconceptions, and 13% showed a lack of understanding regarding the topic of hydrocarbons. These results highlight the diagnostic tool's utility in pinpointing areas where conceptual reinforcement is necessary to enhance students’ comprehension in chemistry education.

Abstract

The mentoring of teachers in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is a strategic step to ensure the success of educational reform in Indonesia. At MTs and MA Darul Falah, this mentoring includes planning, execution, and evaluation, focusing on enhancing teachers' competencies as well as applying innovative teaching strategies and methods. The main objective of this mentoring is to improve the understanding of teachers at MTs and MA Darul Falah regarding the principles and practices of the Merdeka Curriculum. This approach uses a qualitative method with observation and documentation study. Observations were conducted during face-to-face Forum Group Discussions (FGD) and during mentoring sessions at MTs and MA Darul Falah. The results of the mentoring show that teachers experienced an increase in their understanding and skills related to the Merdeka Curriculum. The service activities resulted in an average posttest score of 8.8, with an n-gain increase reaching 0.81, categorized as very good. Additionally, the mentoring was effective in creating Merdeka Curriculum administrative instruments, achieving a suitability rate of 87.5%. The high posttest scores indicate successful knowledge transfer, while the high satisfaction level of participants reflects strong approval of the training and mentoring provided. Active discussions and experience sharing during the activities allowed teachers to find joint solutions to learning challenges. It is hoped that this mentoring will prepare teachers at MTs and MA Darul Falah to prepare curriculum changes, enhance their motivation and confidence in teaching according to the Merdeka Curriculum, and foster collaboration and innovation in teaching practices.

Abstract

This study aims to produce android-based interactive multimedia on colloidal system chemistry material in high school that is suitable for use, as well as to find out student responses regarding the development of android-based interactive multimedia on colloid system material in high school. The method used in this study is research and development (Research and Development) 4D model (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). In this case, researchers only carry out research from up to stage three (Develop). The subjects used were 20 students who were taken randomly. The research instruments used included validation sheets, feasibility questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. The validation results by experts show that the developed interactive multimedia is feasible to use with an average validation score of material experts reaching 84.57%, media experts 90.83%, eligibility by educators 90.37% and student responses of 89.53% . The results obtained from the validators, educators, and students indicate that this interactive multimedia is feasible for use in colloidal chemistry learning.

Abstract

VR (VR) is a technology created with the aim of creating a three-dimensional (3DVR) simulated environment where users can observe and interact with the contents of that environment. This research aims to develop and assess the quality of a 3D-VR-Based Virtual Lab learning media. The development of learning media in this research uses the ADDIE development model. However, in this research, it is limited only to the development stage, namely validation by media experts and feasibility testing. Based on the validation results from each media validator, covering three aspects: audiovisual, software engineering, and instructional design, good results were obtained. Therefore, 3D-VR media developed is declared valid and feasible to be tested with learners.

Abstract

This research is to produce a suitable digital assessment tool for high school students' in chemical literacy with validity, reliability, levels of difficulty and discrimination power. The research metodology is Research and Development (R&D) using the Oriondo and Dallo-Antonio model. The research stages include planning the test instrument, testing, determining empirical validity, determining reliability, and interpreting test scores. In the planning (instrument creation), where the validation score estimates by experts in content, language, construction, and media are above 0.8, indicating that the test instrument is considered suitable for further testing to estimate validity, reliability, difficulty levels, and discrimination power. Out of the 25 developed questions, 24 fit the Rasch model. The reliability of Instrument Part I is 0.67, and Part II is 0.65, falling into the "sufficient" category. The questions exhibit varied difficulty levels, ranging from very easy to very difficult, with a standard deviation (SD) of 0.21 for Part I and 0.14 for Part II. The separation achieved by Instrument Part I is into 4 ability groups, while Instrument Part II separates into 2 ability groups. The distractors for multiple-choice questions fall into the "good" and "very good" categories, fulfilling their intended function effectively.

Abstract

Conceptual errors or misconceptions are individuals' perceptions that do not align with scientific concepts recognized by experts. This study aims to identify the misconceptions experienced by 11th-grade students on chemical equilibrium, assisted by the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) and utilizing the Discovery Learning model. The research employed an experimental method with a pre-experimental design. The population of this study comprised all 11th-grade students at MAS Syamsuddhuha, with the sample being a single class, namely XI IPA 3. The data collection instrument was a multiple-choice test accompanied by reasoning and a CRI scale, administered after the learning intervention. The analysis results indicated that 43.14% of the sample still experienced misconceptions. The types of misconceptions on chemical equilibrium concepts were as follows: dynamic equilibrium (33.33%), equilibrium constant for concentration (Kc) (46.30%), partial pressure constant (61.11%), the relationship between Kc and Kp (38.89%), degree of dissociation (33.33%), equilibrium shift according to Le Chatelier's principle (65.74%), and chemical equilibrium in industry (38.89%). The findings demonstrate that misconceptions persist among students regarding understanding chemical equilibrium concepts.

Abstract

Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka dan tuntutan pendidikan di era Society 5.0 menuntut guru untuk mampu memanfaatkan teknologi digital secara pedagogis, salah satunya melalui pengembangan video pembelajaran yang mendukung pembelajaran diferensiasi. Namun, masih terdapat kesenjangan antara tuntutan tersebut dan kompetensi guru dalam mengolah video pembelajaran secara efektif. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi teknis dan pedagogis guru dalam pembuatan video pembelajaran berbasis diferensiasi melalui pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi CapCut. Metode yang digunakan berupa lokakarya dan pendampingan berkelanjutan yang melibatkan 44 guru kimia dari 24 sekolah menengah di Kabupaten Bireuen. Pelatihan dilaksanakan melalui tahapan terstruktur yang meliputi pengenalan aplikasi, penyampaian materi dasar pengeditan video, penyusunan storyline dan naskah, praktik langsung, serta evaluasi melalui diskusi dan tanya jawab. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 30 guru (68%) mengalami peningkatan kompetensi yang signifikan, 8 guru (18%) berada pada kategori cukup meningkat, dan 6 guru (14%) tidak menunjukkan peningkatan yang berarti. Guru yang mengalami peningkatan mampu menghasilkan video pembelajaran yang lebih terstruktur, komunikatif, dan sesuai dengan prinsip pembelajaran diferensiasi. Variasi hasil pelatihan dipengaruhi oleh perbedaan pengalaman awal dan literasi teknologi peserta. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan berbasis praktik dan pendampingan menggunakan aplikasi yang mudah diakses seperti CapCut efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi guru serta berpotensi mendukung penguatan pembelajaran digital di sekolah
