Abstract

The Continuing Professional Development Program (CPD) aims to develop teacher professionalism. CPD is carried out in accordance with the needs of teachers to achieve professional competency standards and/or increase their competence above their professional competency standards which at the same time has implications for the acquisition of credit points for promotions/functional positions of teachers. One of the things that is part of the PKB is scientific publications. Currently, teachers are still having difficulty writing scientific research articles that meet the requirements of scientific publication in a scientific journal. The results of a survey of science teachers in Bengkulu Tengah Regency, only 18.75% of teachers have ever submitted scientific articles to a scientific journal. Based on these results, a service was carried out which aimed to (1) increase the knowledge of science teachers in Central Bengkulu Regency about writing scientific articles in journals and (2) increase the motivation of science teachers in Central Bengkulu Regency to write scientific articles in journals.

Abstract

Amorphophallus titanum is an endemic flora of Sumatra that was listed in the IUCN Red List in 2018 under the endangered category. Conservation efforts must be undertaken to preserve A. titanum both ex situ and in situ. Additionally, artificial propagation of plants needs to be carried out to obtain seedlings that can be replanted in their natural habitat or conservation areas. Propagation through the rachis cutting method is interesting to conduct because it is considered easier and more cost-effective compared to other methods. This research aims to determine the potential success of the planting media used and the challenges faced in the propagation of A. titanum through the rachis cutting method, conducted at the Pondok Sains Terpadu (POSTER) conservation, Science Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Bengkulu. The planting media used were cocopeat and soil, with 40 samples of A. titanum rachis and 20 repetitions for each planting medium. The research results show that the cocopeat medium produced a higher success rate (15%) than the soil medium (0%). Callus appeared in the 8th week, followed by buds in the 12th week. The leaves experienced decay and drying in the 16th week, but the buds continued to grow until they bloomed perfectly in the 20th week. The failure of rachis cutting propagation using average soil media was observed from the 4th week after planting. Thus, it can be concluded that cocopeat media shows potential to support the propagation efforts of A. titanum through the rachis cutting method. The challenges of this research are influenced by pest and disease disturbances (S. rolfsii, Collembola, and H. haydeniana) due to the open research location, as well as environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, light, and pH of the growing medium.

Abstract

Background: Science teaching at the junior high school (SMP) level still struggles to connect scientific concepts with students' everyday experiences. The absence of local wisdom integration contributes to low motivation and poor understanding of scientific material. One underutilized local potential is the traditional drying process of octopus practiced by coastal communities in Kaur Regency, Bengkulu.Aims: This study aims to develop and assess the feasibility of a science learning module based on the local wisdom of dried octopus, focusing on the concepts of temperature, heat, and expansion for seventh-grade students.Method: Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, the study involves five stages: analysis of student and teacher needs, module design, expert-validated development, implementation through a readability test involving 21 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 24 Kaur, and final evaluation. Results: The results of the expert validation showed a module feasibility level of 95% with the category "very feasible," while the student readability test obtained an average score of 97% with the category "very easy to understand." The developed module also received positive responses from students regarding engagement, content clarity, language, and usefulness. Conclusion: The science module based on the local wisdom of octopus drying is considered highly feasible and practical for teaching temperature, heat, and expansion. Integrating local wisdom into science learning has been proven to improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes and foster awareness of local cultural values.

Abstract

The present study was carried out to produce a product in the form of e-module guidelines of basic physics practicum developed using the SIGIL application to practice students' science process skills during the covid-19 pandemic. This research-based paper was conducted through ADDIE model, which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the analysis phase, a needs analysis of questionnaire was conducted to determine the need for e-modules for practitioners and practicum assistants. During the design stage, a preliminary design is made in the form of the structure or content of the e-module, practicum titles, and their layout. Furthermore, in the development stage, the e-module has been developed using the SIGIL application by inserting a practical tutorial video based on a scientific approach and has been assessed with an average score of 3.82 considered Very Good. The implementation was carried out by giving the developed e-module to 20 students who took the basic physics practicum course. After using e-modules for 4 practicum titles, students are given a posttest of science process skills. Based on the posttest results, students received an average score of science process skills of 83.94 considered Skilled category. In addition to data on the score of science process skills, at this stage data on student responses to e-modules were also obtained using responses from questionnaires. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of static fluid pressure learning with Predict, Observe, Explain (POE)-oriented student worksheets on the eighth-grade students' science process skills. This research employed a non-equivalent control group design. A total of 166 students from five classes in class VIII at State Junior High School 03 in Bengkulu City represented the research population. Students in class VIII-1 (control group) and class VIII-2 (experimental group), for a total of 58 students, were selected as subjects using non-probability sampling and the convenience sampling method. By applying non-parametric inferential statistics, particularly the Mann-Whitney U test, the hypothesis was examined. The results confirm that the use of POE-oriented worksheets in learning the concept of pressure in static fluids has a statistically positive effect at the significance level (0.05) with a p-value (0.003) on science process skills, and the effect size (r=0.39) is in the medium category. The availability of worksheets that rely on scaffolding strategies such as POE may enable students in secondary schools to construct their own knowledge during the learning process. The provision of worksheets that employ scaffolding techniques, such as the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) approach, has the potential to facilitate the development of students' knowledge construction and science process abilities in secondary school settings.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the ability of mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) to reduce styrofoam waste by observing the decrease in styrofoam weight and survival rate over one week. The method used is an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments (P0, P50, P100, P150) and 4 replications. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The research stages include container preparation, larvae, stocking, feeding, and maintenance. The results show that the weight loss of styrofoam occurred at P50 (18.5%), P100 (22.75%), and P150 (36%). Meanwhile, the control group (P0) only experienced a weight loss of 1.5%. This indicates that the greater the number of T. molitor, the greater the weight loss of styrofoam. The highest survival rate for T. molitor was observed at P50, with a decrease in numbers of only 12.5%. At P150, the decrease was 16.8%, and at P100, it was 28.75%. This decrease is suspected to be caused by competition among T. molitor, population density, and a lack of nutrients despite the addition of supplementary feed. Based on the analysis of the results, it can be concluded that T. molitor is capable of reducing styrofoam waste, with the highest survival rate in the P50 group.

Abstract

Pengukuran dilakukan setiap 7 hari sekali selama empat pekan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the effect of combining shrimp head waste and cassava leaves on the growth and protein content of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments: P1 (100% shrimp heads), P2 (75% shrimp heads + 25% cassava leaves), P3 (50% + 50%), P4 (25% shrimp heads + 75% cassava leaves), and P5 (100% cassava leaves). Each treatment had three replications. The observed variables included weight, length, thickness of maggots, feed consumption, specific growth rate (SGR), waste reduction index (WRI), and protein content. The results of the study showed that descriptively, the average maggot weight ranged from 0.04-0.055 g, length between 10.80-11.73 mm, and specific growth rate (SGR) between 6.13-7.23%. Maggot protein content was recorded between 25.09-27.32%, feed consumption ranged from 86-93%, and waste reduction efficiency (WRI) was in the range of 5.28-6.64 g/day. Based on the results of the analysis of variance, all observed variables did not show significant differences between treatments (p > 0.05). Thus, although there were variations in descriptive values, these differences cannot be considered statistically significant and do not reflect the effect of different treatments on the growth of BSF maggots. Further research is needed with a larger sample size, as well as a more detailed analysis of feed nutrient content, to obtain more accurate and applicable results.
