Abstract

Although research on student Mental Health has been widely conducted, there is still a gap in studies that specifically examine the relationship between Quality of Life and Peer Social Support on the Mental Health of students with disabilities in the context of higher education in Indonesia. Students with disabilities in higher education often face significant psychological challenges, such as accessibility barriers, social stigma, and academic pressure that can affect their Mental Health. This study aims to investigate the role of Quality of Life and Peer Social Support in influencing the Mental Health of students with disabilities in Indonesia. The research method uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The research sample consisted of 104 students with disabilities aged 19-23 years, obtained using accidental sampling techniques. The research instruments consist of the Indonesian Quality of Life Scale (α = 0.942), the Peer Support Questionnaire (α = 0.858), and the Azira Mental Health Scales (α = 0.929). The research results indicate that Quality of Life and Peer Social Support together are a significant predictor of Mental Health (F = 78.163; p = 0.000). Partially, Quality of Life is a significant predictor of Mental Health (t = -12.503; p = 0.000), whereas Peer Social Support does not show a significant predictor of Mental Health (t = -0.030; p = 0.976). These findings emphasize the importance of improving the Quality of Life for students with disabilities as a key strategy in Mental Health interventions, while Peer Social Support needs to be optimized to be more effective in providing a positive impact.

Abstract

Javanese women experiencing involuntary childlessness often face strong cultural pressures that can impact their psychological well-being and marital satisfaction. This study aims to examine the relationship between husband’s social support, self-acceptance, and marital satisfaction in Javanese women with involuntary childlessness. Using a quantitative approach and a multiple-correlation design, data were collected from 157 participants via purposive sampling. Instruments included the Social Support Questionnaire (SSQ), Berger's Self-Acceptance Scale, and the ENRICH Marital Satisfaction (EMS) Scale. Analysis using Pearson correlation and multiple regression showed that both husband’s social support and self-acceptance were significantly related to marital satisfaction (F = 96.892; p < 0.001). Social support showed a strong positive correlation (r = 0.712), while self-acceptance had a moderate correlation (r = 0.322), both significant at p < 0.001. These findings highlight the vital role of husband’s support in enhancing self-acceptance and marital satisfaction. The study underscores the importance of relational support within the Javanese cultural context. Keywords: involuntary childlessness, husbands’ social support, marital satisfaction, self-acceptance

Abstract

Student athletes face the dual pressures of academic and sporting demands, which make them vulnerable to mental health problems. To be able to improve psychological well-being, it is necessary to have a locus of control from within student athletes, so that they are expected to be able to control themselves to carry out healthy living behaviors, so that psychological well-being can increase. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between locus of control, healthy living behaviors, and psychological well-being in student athletes in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach and multiple correlation analysis design involving 418 participants from various provinces in Indonesia. This study used 3 scales consisting of, IPC LOC (Internality, Powerful Others, and Chance Locus of Control), The Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II, and the scale of Psychological Well-Being. The result showed a significant relationship between locus of control with psychological well-being (r = 0,758 and sig. = 0,000), and healthy lifestyle behavior with psychological well-being (r = 0,513 and sig. = 0,000). The results obtained found that locus of control and healthy lifestyle behavior have a relationship with the achievement of psychological well-being of student athletes.

Abstract

his study examines the differences in psychological well-being between primigravida and multigravida women of the Nuaulu tribe in Central Maluku during the Nuhune ritual—a traditional period of cultural seclusion symbolizing spiritual purification before childbirth. Employing a comparative quantitative design, the study involved 30 participants (15 primigravida and 15 multigravida), assessed using an adapted version of Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale. Statistical analysis using the Mann-Whitney U test revealed significantly higher well-being scores among primigravida women (U = 5.500, p < 0.05), with a large effect size (r = 0.82). These findings suggest that first-time participation in cultural-spiritual rituals may foster greater personal growth, purpose, and emotional support. The results underscore the importance of culturally grounded maternal health strategies that recognize the psychological functions of indigenous rituals. Limitations include the small sample size and cross-sectional design.

Abstract

Bipolar disorder is a psychological disorder that can affect mental health and cause extreme mood swings. Coping strategies that focus on problem-solving and reducing or managing emotional stress are needed. This study aims to explore coping strategies among individuals diagnosed with Bipolar disorder using a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants in this study consisted of four individuals aged 17-25 years with Bipolar disorder, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the interactive analysis technique by Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that participants employ coping strategies such as taking medication regularly, counseling, engaging in favorite activities, pursuing hobbies, and exercising. Additionally, support from partners, family, and friends plays a crucial role in helping participants cope with bipolar disorder. Cultivating self-love through positive self-affirmation and seeking spiritual support through prayer and gratitude can also serve as coping strategies. Factors contributing to bipolar disorder include traumatic experiences in the past, such as limited social contact during COVID, domestic violence during childhood, broken homes, and toxic relationships. This study provides insights into the dynamics of individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder and the coping strategies used by individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Abstract

A toxic relationship shows a negative impact on the physical and mental condition of individuals who have undergone the subject. Even though the students have experienced unpleasant conditions in life, to continue her life journey, the student needs to make peace and build a concept of forgiveness for the circumstances that are formed through empathy. This research aims to determine the relationship between empathy and forgiveness in students who have been victims of toxic relationships. The method used is quantitative correlational. An equal number of 355 students who had been victims of toxic relationships came to be participants in this study, with the sampling technique used, specifically, incidental sampling. This study uses a scale, namely the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (α = 0.863) and Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations -18 (α = 0.843). The research data analysis method uses the product-moment correlation test from Karl Pearson. The results show that there was a significant positive relationship between empathy and forgiveness (r = 0.228 and sig = 0.000 (p<0.01). Empathy contributed 5.2% to forgiveness. It appears that empathy is one of the factors associated with increased forgiveness in students who have been victims of a toxic relationship.

Abstract

Female sex workers (FSWs) often manage a concealable, stigmatized identity, yet some are known within their neighborhoods. Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), this study examined how five Indonesian FSWs (35–45 years) living in Central Java made sense of “living openly” and mental health as emotional, psychological, and social well-being. “Living openly” was defined as negotiated openness: at least some community members (e.g., neighbors, informal leaders, and/or family) knew participants’ work status, while operational details were deliberately withheld. Participants were recruited via snowball sampling and completed in-depth interviews in Indonesian; excerpts were translated into English for reporting. Idiographic accounts converged in four cross-case themes: (1) boundary work that eased the burden of secrecy without requiring total disclosure; (2) emotional relief coexisting with vigilance as stigma resurfaced through gossip, moral judgment, harassment, and safety concerns; (3) psychological well-being sustained by time–space separation between work and home, privacy management, selective trust, and meaning anchored in caregiving roles; and (4) social well-being built through routine participation and visible contribution to community activities under conditional acceptance. The findings position openness as a continuing social practice through which well-being is reconstructed amid persistent stigma and structural vulnerability. Implications highlight harm-reduction norms, safe spaces, and family support.
