Abstract

The challenges of education today are inevitable. The need for education which is part of the needs of life accompanied by increasingly sophisticated technological developments must of course go hand in hand to become an innovation for education. This study aims to see and describe clearly how the implementation of English language education for elementary school teacher education at the Open University. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, in which the author is the key to the research who directly collects data in the field through observation, interviews with informants, then collects documentation related to the research. The results of the study show that the implementation of English education at UT has been designed with the aim of equipping students with basic English language skills that are relevant to the context of elementary education. Learning is carried out through an online learning system that combines independent learning with printed and digital modules and online tutorials (TUTON). Technology, such as the UT LMS platform and video and audio media, is the main means of delivering material and evaluation. Learning evaluation is carried out through individual assignments, discussion forums, quizzes, mid-term exams, final semester exams, as well as teaching practices and Final Program Assignments.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of project-based learning (PjBL) in translation education, focusing on the development of students' collaborative and critical thinking skills. Using a quasi-experimental design, the research examines how engagement in real-world translation projects influences students' active learning, integration of theory and practice, and overall engagement in the learning process. Key findings indicate that PjBL significantly increases student participation, fosters the application of theoretical knowledge in practical settings, and improves essential professional skills such as teamwork and decision-making. The research contributes to the field of translation learning by highlighting the potential of PjBL as an innovative and effective teaching strategy. It emphasizes the importance of designing and implementing project-based activities that enrich students' learning experiences and prepare them for the complexities of professional translation work. However, the study acknowledges certain limitations, including its limited focus on a single educational context, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Future research directions are suggested, including exploring the impact of PjBL in different educational settings and assessing its long-term effects on students' career readiness and professional development.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penerapan model pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PjBL) untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan konsep & kemampuan berpikir Kreatif peserta didik di SMA Negeri 1 Simanindo. Metode pengandian ini menggunakan pengabdian kuantitatif yang menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dan desain kontrol pre test-post test. Populasi pengabdian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas sebelas SMA Negeri 1 Simanindo tahun ajaran 2023/2024. . Pengabdian menghitung frekuensi dan normalitas pengujian dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 26.0. Berdasarkan data hasil analisis tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengujian hipotesis terhadap nilai posttest, diperoleh thitung = 8,973 > ttabel = 1,699 pada taraf signifikansi a = 0,05 dan derajat kebebasan (df) = 29, maka hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Hal ini berarti bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada keterampilan siswa dengan menggunakan Project Based Learning (PjBL) dan tanpa menggunakan Project Based Learning (PjBL) di SMA Negeri 1 Simanindo.

Abstract

Student Search is often interpreted as "looking for students", while in the context of management, the term means examination or search of students. The "legal umbrella" regarding the application of student search in educational institutions in Indonesia is still not specifically regulated by the government, especially the ministry of education and culture. This study aims to analyze student search from the ethical point of view of educational leadership management. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. The sources of data and study analysis materials are based on relevant scientific literature, including books, articles, proceedings (national/international), and final projects (thesis, thesis, or dissertation). The results of this study indicate that student search still leaves confusion (polemic) in its application because until now there has been no regulation from the relevant ministry or government that specifically addresses the ethics of examination of students. This is because the Criminal Procedure Code only regulates the procedures for searching the public in general (not specifically on students), as well as in the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 19 of 2007 concerning Education Management Standards which does not specifically contain the rules for student search. Furthermore, the regulation only concludes that school rules and regulations are entrusted to the principal with the consideration of the education board and school committee.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas hasil penelitian tentang implementasi kurikulum Pendidikan Islam dalam penerapan gaya kepemimpinan pada tingkat menengah, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimanakah implementasian dan apa-apa saja bentuk gaya kepemimpina religius di SMP Bumi Alquran Siantar. Metode dalam penelitian ini penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, teknik dan instrumen pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara mendalam, observasi, observasi, dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala sekolah SMP Bumi Al-Qur’an Siantar mengimplementasikan gaya kepemimpinan religius dalam memimpin SMP Bumi Al-Quran Siantar dengan mengambil kebijakan-kebiajakan yang merujuk pada Hadist Nabi Muhammad SAW mapun nilai-nilai yang merujuk pada Islam. Contoh berinfaq, silatturahmi, Rihlah, Musyawarah, dan memberikan contoh kedisiplinan pada bawahan.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the policies that Pancabudi Development University and UMN Alwasliyah Medan implement, the process by which policies are made, the manner in which policies are implemented, any variations in policy implementation, and the challenges that the institutions face in the field and how they resolve them. The present study employs a qualitative research methodology in conjunction with an empirical policy research strategy. By first outlining each policy at each site, doing an analysis inside each site, and then conducting an analysis between sites, this research used a multisite research design. The study's findings demonstrate that Pancabudi Development University has a policy for quality enhancement. 1) a rule requiring all UNPAB instructors and affiliated parties to promptly adapt to higher education standards without the chancellor's commands 2) Modify the metrics and raise the caliber of the literature produced by the instructors 3) Create a rewards program for instructors who successfully publish in journals approved by SINTA and Scopus. 4) Help instructors with their writing 5) Establish "study Saturdays," in which professors are allowed to study on Saturdays. 6) Give importance to the functional roles of lecturers 7) offer recognition and rewards to students who achieve well and engage in activities that enhance the campus's reputation; 8) adopt a philosophy inspired by Professor Khadirun Yahya that emphasizes unity. At Unpab, policy-making involves the bottom line. The challenges encountered are disparities in lecturers' writing skills, which Unpab addresses by offering support. Rules put in place by UMN Alwasliyah Medan 1) Implement academic directives without following the chancellor's instructions; Dikti's regulations are considered academy orders. 2) raise the standard of writing for both instructors and students; 3) publish student theses; 4) help instructors with their writing; 5) LPM UMN conducts frequent audits; and 6) the chancellor established an SMS center for direct complaints from all UMN inhabitants. 7) Online presence of instructors is tracked 8) UMN Alwasliyah's Foundation and Chancellor established a Code of Ethics Team. 9) honors the top instructors in Tridharma-related activities with awards 9) UMN fund handlers, like PTN-BH 10) Form a committee to revise the curriculum. 11) Letters on Alwasliyah philosophy in the same way as Shafs 10 and 11. At UMN, proposals are incorporated into the policy-making process by way of individual hierarchies. By approaching each lecturer differently, the challenges posed by misunderstanding and the shortcomings of some instructors in terms of modifying the writing standard were addressed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kendala/permasalahan dalam penerapan standar nasional pendidikan pada tingkat sekolah dasar (SD) di Kecamatan Gunung Maligas Kabupaten Simalungun. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan melalui observasi dan wawancara. Analisis data menerapkan reduksi data, model/penyajian data, dan penarikan/ verifikasi kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan beberapa kendala/permasalahan dalam implementasi delapan standar nasional pendidikan, yaitu: 1. Pergantian kurikulum sekali dalam lima tahun dan tidak disosialisaskan dengan cepat oleh Dinas Pendidikan, 2. Kurikulum yang diimplementasikan pada tingkat sekolah dasar (SD) bervariasi, 3. Penerapan Kriteria Ketercapaian Tujuan Pembelajaran (KKTP) yang sangat variatif di setiap sekolah yang mengakibatkan kaburnya skala penilaian pencapaian kompetensi siswa, 4. Guru masih cenderung copy paste untuk menyusun modul ajar atau rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP), 5. Belum ada Alur Tujuan Pembelajaran (ATP)/silabus untuk mata pelajaran muatan lokal, 6. Guru belum mampu mendisain media  pembelajaran yang innovatif dan kreatif berbasis digitalisasi, 7. Akses internet belum memadai di setiap sekolah, 8. Penentuan kelulusan peserta didik ditentukan oleh pihak sekolah, 9. Pengadaan guru PJOK, guru Agama Kristen, guru Bimbingan dan Konseling (BK), dan  guru Seni yang minim pada tingakat sekolah dasar, 10. Masih ada guru yang belum tamatan S-1, dan tidak linier dengan mata pelajaran yang diampuh, 11. Tidak merata pendistribusian sarana dan prasarana sekolah seperti ruangan kelas yang tidak layak pakai, buku paket, alat peraga, perpustakaan, laboratorium IPA, computer, dan Akses internet yang tidak memadai di setiap sekolah untuk mendukung pelaksanaan pembelajaran, 12. Beberapa kepala sekolah tidak memiliki kemampuan manajemen dan kepemimpinan, 13. Sekolah tidak memiliki mitra untuk pengembangan kompetensi guru, kurikulum, dan sarana prasarana sekolah, 14. Rencana Kegiatan dan Anggaran Sekolah (RKAS) yang diusulkan kepala sekolah cenderung tidak disetujui dan direvisi oleh Dinas Pendidikan sesuai keinginan mereka, 15. Dana BOS tidak mencukupi untuk pembiayaan operasional sekolah dan Dinas Pendidikan tidak memberikan kebebasan kepada pihak sekolah untuk pengelolaan Dana BOS sesuai kebutuhan sekolah, 16. Lembaga Swadaya Masyarakat (LSM) ikut berperan untuk pengadaan sarana dan prasarana sekolah, 17. Masih banyak guru/sekolah yang belum menguasai indikator dan instrumen penilaian.

Abstract

Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melaksanakan pelatihan dan sosialisasi mengenai implementasi Sapta Pesona dalam pengembangan destinasi pariwisata di Kota Padangsidimpuan, Sumatera Utara. Melalui program ini, masyarakat lokal diberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperlukan untuk mengelola destinasi pariwisata dengan lebih efektif dan berkelanjutan. Selain itu, terjadi sosialisasi yang mendalam mengenai pentingnya melestarikan budaya dan lingkungan dalam konteks pariwisata. Hasil dari pelaksanaan program ini menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kesadaran masyarakat lokal dalam mengelola dan mempromosikan destinasi pariwisata mereka. Terbentuknya kerjasama yang erat antara masyarakat lokal, pemerintah daerah, dan pihak terkait lainnya juga menjadi salah satu hasil yang penting dari program ini. Dengan demikian, program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berhasil menciptakan dampak positif dalam pengembangan pariwisata lokal yang berkelanjutan dan berkualitas.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the pronunciation errors in reading text made by students of English Language Education department of Simalungun University. This research applied the qualitative approach with content analysis method. The technique of collecting data used a recording, and data analysis by transcribing the students’ pronunciation from recording into the phonetic transcriptions, grouping the students’ errors in pronouncing English vowels and consonants into separate divisions, employing the percentage descriptive analysis to count all errors, and interpreting the result of the data analysis. The result of research is found on English Vowels and English Consonants error. The pronunciation error on English vowel, namely: /i:/, /æ/, /ə/, /ɜ:/, /ɔ:/, and /u:/. The vowel pronunciation error is commonly on pure vowel. It is on a long vowel sound and short vowel sound. While the pronunciation error of English consonants found: /ʧ/, /ʤ/, /θ/, /ð/, /ʃ/, /ʒ/. The consonant pronunciation error appears on voiceless and voice consonants. The other consonant pronunciation error is to pronounce the double consonant. The students assumed that every double consonant would be pronounced with double sounds. The pronunciation error on English vowels and English consonants were caused some factors. Factors of pronunciation error, namely; 1. Lack of understanding and knowledge. 2. Students are nervous. 3. Students are unable to distinguish between sounds that are almost the same. 4. Students lack practice. 5. Native language. 6. Lack of new vocabulary. 7. Lack of confidence.

Abstract

Pelatihan penerapan konsep dasar pedagogik bagi guru SMP Negeri 1 Simanindo bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi profesional dalam menerapkan strategi pembelajaran yang efektif, inovatif, dan berbasis teknologi. Pelatihan ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Persiapan dilakukan dengan analisis kebutuhan dan perancangan materi. Pelaksanaan mencakup pemaparan konsep pedagogik, strategi pembelajaran interaktif, serta praktik mengajar melalui simulasi. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui observasi dan diskusi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang lebih variatif, seperti diskusi kelompok dan pemanfaatan teknologi. Meski masih terdapat kendala seperti keterbatasan waktu dan perbedaan tingkat pemahaman peserta, pelatihan ini berdampak positif terhadap profesionalisme guru dan kualitas pembelajaran di SMP Negeri 1 Simanindo
