Abstract

Building literacy education and students character in the 21st century began to be developed specifically in schools. The development of character education and the improvement of mastery literacy can be done by habituation and ethnoscience-based guided inquiry learning. The purpose of this study was to learn the implementation of ethnoscience-based guided inquiry learning on the literature and students character. The place of this research is at SDN 2 Wonosobo and SDN 5 Wonosobo, Wonosobo Regency. The type of research is a mixed method, with embedded experimental design. The sample in this study amounted to 56 students, for qualitative data samples, three samples were selected which obtained poor pretest (SP-1), moderate (SP-2), and high (SP-3) values. Data collection is done by test, observation, and documentation methods. The results of this study show a significant effect on the implementation of ethnoscience-based guided inquiry learning and the mastery of students literacy. This can be seen from the significance value of p (asymp. Sig. 2 tailed) of 0,000. The character development of students varied enough from SP-1, SP-2, and SP-3, and showed better development from each meeting. The conclusion in this study shows that ethnoscience-based guided inquiry learning gives a significant influence on the mastery of scientific literacy and the student's character.

Abstract

The implementation of character education in Indonesia show that students have not received proper and maximum character education services because the unavailabilities of integrated character mapped in a tiered and focused manner. This research conducts the integration of character values into the curriculum that is stated in the mathematics syllabus and learning devices for Junior High School grade VII, VIII, and IX that is based on ATONG (Amati Tanya Olah Nalar dan Gagas) in a tiered and focused manner. This research aims to design syllabus and learning devices based on the ATONG approach that integrated character education; produce a valid syllabus and learning devices; and test the effectiveness of the coordinate system learning based on the ATONG approach with Eliciting Activities model that integrated hard work character. This research refers to the Borg & Gall model (2003) which is modified into 5 steps. The learning devices test was conducted in sampling method in grade VIII SMP Kartika XII. The result of expert validation shows that the syllabus and learning devices are valid with a score of 3.60 which is considered as very good; the learning devices test results in an effective learning. This research is success to map characters in a focused and tiered manner on innovative mathematics learning. The mapping of specific cognitive and psychomotor abilities is indispensable because the mapping in the syllabus is still general.

Abstract

Science literacy began to be accommodated in Indonesia in the curriculum 2006 (KTSP) and more clearly seen in the curriculum 2013 through inquiry activity and scientific approaches. Based on the result of a comparative study conducted by OECD through PISA for children aged 15-17 years, Indonesia obtained unsatisfactory result. It was caused by the Indonesian?s low interest in reading according to UNESCO in 2012. Another thing that caused the low scientific literacy score of students was textbooks. The result of an analysis of the SMP science textbook which used in various schools in Central Java showed that the learning materials did not contain scientific literacy components. Textbooks have an important role in science learning. The learning material which used during the learning process was the learning support beside the role of the teacher. This research was a research and development that produced a product in the form of a science literacy learning material with sound as the theme. The purpose of this research was to find out the characteristics, validity and effectiveness of the learning material compiled. The assessment was conducted on grade VIII F which was chosen based on purposive sampling technique. The result showed that the preparation of physical science learning material based on science literacy could improve the ability of science literacy in the medium category. In addition, the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning outcomes were good.

Abstract

This study aims to determine effort in improving the quality of teacher competenes in Pre-School institutions; to describe the use of learning management Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); as well as to describe the quality of learning management. Data in the form of suggestions and reasons were analyzed using qualitative analysis. The results of the study are teacher performance in Pre-School institutions can be improved by implementing SOP on learning management, the use of SOP affects the quality of learning in Pre-School, measurement of teacher performance in a Pre-School institution after applying SOP on learning management with 80% results in good category, teacher responses to the developed learning management SOP show good responses, provide convenience. The study concludes that the importance of SOP on learning management for quality of early childhood services, the program process is still lacking because in the aspect of SOP implementation there is still a lack of smoothness and awareness of the program teacher is still minimal, the product program is quite good, because it provides convenience in working, program evaluation is carried out with supervision activities and filling out an assessment form from the school principal. Assessment tools as supervision sheets must be available to assess teacher performance. The principal as a supervisor, carries out classroom supervision activities by observing and monitoring teaching and learning activities in schools. Some important things in supervision by school principals are related to discipline, creativity, innovation, effective ways of communication, responsibility and accuracy of teachers in using learning media.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are describe the characteristics, determine the validity, to test the practicality of worksheet based on scientific literacy, and to test the effectiveness of the product in improving student?s scientific literacy capability. The type of this research is Research and Development (R&D) that produces worksheet based on scientific literacy on optical tools topics. The research was done at SMP Rembang, Purbalingga. The characteristics of  the worksheet which is developed are using four scientific literacy aspects that can be found in the worksheet main feature, that are ?Ayo Belajar?, ?Mencoba Yuk?, ?Ayo Berpikir Ilmiah?, and ?Sains dalam Kehidupan?. The research findings shows that the validity test?s result of the worksheet is in valid category with the result of 84.95%. The result of  practicality of the worksheet based on scientific literacy is in the practical category with the result of 82.60%. The improvement of scientific literacy capability in cognitive aspect showed that the experimental class was 0.69 and the control class was 0.47. The result showed that affective and psychomotoric learning in the experimental class is higer than the control group. Based on the result, it is concluded that the worksheet based on scientific literacy is valid, practical, and effective to increase student?s scientific literacy capability.
