Abstract

Research aims: This study examines how regulation, halal awareness, and belief influence the intention of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Medan City to register for halal certification. Although mandated by Law No. 33 of 2014, many MSMEs continue to delay certification due to limited understanding, perceived financial burdens, and assumptions that their products are inherently halal. Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative approach using multiple linear regression was applied. Data were collected from 91 MSMEs in East Medan District through a structured questionnaire, supported by validity, reliability, and classical assumption testing. Research findings: The results show that regulation, halal awareness, and belief significantly shape MSME intentions, explaining 90.4% of the variation. Although MSMEs recognize the importance of certification for legality and consumer trust, challenges related to procedures and limited knowledge remain. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study enriches the literature by illustrating how regulatory and cognitive–religious factors influence MSME certification decisions. Practical/Policy Implications: Stronger government support, wider socialization, and simpler procedures are needed to increase MSME participation. Research Limitations/Implications: The findings are limited to East Medan District and a quantitative approach; future studies should compare regions or use mixed methods for deeper insights.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of price and income of Muslim consumers on purchasing decisions for Berkah Barus Syrup products from an Islamic economic perspective. The study used a quantitative approach with an associative design. Data were collected through a Likert scale questionnaire (1–5) distributed to 80 Muslim consumer respondents in Barus District, Central Tapanuli Regency, who were selected using a random sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression using SPSS version 29, supported by validity and reliability tests, and classical assumption tests. The results showed that price had a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions, as did consumer income, which had a positive and significant partial effect. Simultaneously, price and income were proven to have a significant effect on purchasing decisions for Berkah Barus Syrup products. These findings indicate that price suitability with Muslim consumers' income levels is an important factor in forming purchasing decisions. This study provides an empirical contribution to the development of Muslim consumer behavior studies by integrating the concept of purchasing decisions with Islamic economic principles, particularly in the context of price fairness and consumer welfare. The practical implications of this study can serve as a reference for business actors in formulating pricing strategies that are in accordance with sharia values and consumers' economic conditions.

Abstract

This study analyses the influence of spiritual beliefs, peer pressure, and Sharia financial literacy on the investment interest of FEBI UINSU students in the Sharia capital market. Using a quantitative approach with SmartPLS, the results demonstrate that all three variables have a positive and significant impact. Sharia financial literacy emerged as the dominant factor (t=3.835; p=0.000), followed by religiosity (t=3.353; p=0.001) and peer influence (t=3.322; p=0.001). An adjusted R-squared value of 0.634 indicates that these independent variables account for 63.4% of the variation in students' investment interest. This confirms that the synergy between Islamic values, social interaction, and financial understanding is key to their involvement in Sharia investment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of exports and Islamic bank financing on the economic growth of North Sumatra Province using monthly time series data from 2013 to 2022. The research employs a quantitative approach, with data processed using EViews 12 and analyzed through the Vector Autoregression (VAR) and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) methods to examine both short-term and long-term relationships among variables. The findings indicate the existence of long-term equilibrium among exports, Islamic bank financing, and economic growth. However, in the short term, neither exports nor Islamic bank financing have a statistically significant effect on economic growth, although a unidirectional causality is observed from economic growth to both variables. The impulse response analysis reveals fluctuations in both variables’ reactions to economic growth shocks during the early periods. In the long run, exports show a more dominant and significant influence on economic growth compared to Islamic bank financing. These results highlight the need for strategic efforts to enhance export performance and optimize the role of Islamic banking in supporting regional economic growth.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the One Stop Service (OSS) at the Medan Tembung District Office using a qualitative approach and NVIVO 15 analysis. Findings reveal that OSS remains semi-integrated, with major gaps in technology, human resources, processes, information, and organizational values. These hinder service integration and user orientation. The study concludes that OSS success depends not only on technology but also on institutional capacity, HR competence, and inter-agency coordination.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the business model of Bakso Urat Juara Bandar Khalifah MSME using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach, examine the existing value proposition in shaping brand identity and customer experience, and formulate more effective business model development strategies. The study employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews involving the business owner, business partners, and customers. The findings reveal that the existing business model has incorporated the nine elements of the Business Model Canvas. However, its implementation remains relatively simple and has not been optimally integrated. In terms of value proposition, the business predominantly emphasizes functional values, such as product quality and affordable pricing, while emotional and visual aspects, particularly outlet design, have not been maximized. This condition contributes to a weaker brand identity and less distinctive customer experience. Several development strategies are therefore proposed, including outlet design standardization, product innovation, and service quality enhancement. Consequently, business model development should not merely focus on increasing sales performance, but also on creating sustainable value and strengthening business competitiveness. These insights contribute for small food vendors to move beyond basic survival and focus on creating memorable brand spaces that secure long-term market loyalty.
